What's the weirdest thing you've seen in a house?

  1. A penny farthing sitting on a landing of a mansion.

  2. Lots of tiny feathers on the stairs of someone's house who didn't own a bird and in the same house I think they had a secret lodger as every time I went to the loo I heard footsteps run from one room to the next upstairs. I never mentioned either!

In a house we viewed. A six foot long medieval style wooden wagon contraption in the massive and otherwise empty master bedroom.

Estate agent said it was staying as they couldn't get it through the doorway or down the stairs.

The same house also had awful plastic window sills and disco ball light fittings. It was a 16th century listed cottage.

Weird, do you think it was a children's toy or what??

A shower cubicle in the bedroom. Freestanding, see through and a pipe running through the wall to the tiny bathroom next door

A bookcase with four copies of Keith Richards' memoir. Identical editions.

No, it was definitely not safe for children to play with.

An enormous oil painting of wounded animals weeping.

This is very weird!

Someone in my stepdads family used leopard print fake fur to wallpaper a wall in her bathroom. As a kid I thought it was so fun. Now I shudder as an adult as it was the wall with the loo on, feel like it must be saturated in poo particles 😂

My job involves visiting peoples houses, I’ve seen male and female mannequins on each level of the house looking out the window.
Fake grass instead of carpet in a bedroom, a swimming pool in the back garden of a standard size semi.
coming across people asleep in bed when being shown around the house, en-suites without doors, massive bars built in the living room.

A door halfway up the stairs. Not that weird on the face of it but….just, why?

FatParrot · Yesterday 17:49

A collection of taxidermied pet rabbits.

BloomingXmas · Yesterday 17:50

These are hilarious

Notfeelinit · Yesterday 17:50

A very small wooden door, halfway up the wall, in a friend’s very old grade II listed cottage

fake grass in the garden
’live, love laugh’ framed on the wall
carpet in the bathroom
An absence of books

In a house I viewed once, a freestanding roll-top bath and loo in the bedroom - no privacy at all. Mind you, there was also an enormous painting of two men in flagrante above the bed so I guess the people who lived there weren’t exactly the shy type…

I didn’t offer on it.

A stuffed fox on the fireplace in a very old house. The house deeds specified that it had to stay!

LittleWoodlandThings · Yesterday 18:00

A shower cubicle in the corner of a bedroom.

A staircase with a wooden gate halfway up it. Like the lower half of a stable door.

A small steam train engine in the front garden of a house.

overhare · Yesterday 18:03

Some... interesting hooks on the bedroom walls. Very sturdy, and definitely not at the right height for pictures.

Our friends had just bought the house. Yeah, they said, we were a bit surprised to find those there, there was furniture in front when we looked round. They're not staying.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · Yesterday 18:05

A horse, an entire motorbike broken down into component parts, a sawn-off shotgun propped up behind the front door. Take your pick.

NobodyEvenCares · Yesterday 18:05

Life size clowns posed as if they were eating at the kitchen table, and one sat on the end of the bed ‘tying his shoes’.

Absolutely terrifying.

Was it a bier?

A bier is a stand on which a corpse, coffin, or casket containing a corpse is placed to lie in state or to be carried to its final disposition.[1]

Many villages have them, very old ones dating back centuries, and if there is no room to store it in the church then it isnusually someone's house!

A coffin in a teenage boy’s bedroom. He slept in it - with the lid open thankfully.

You viewed a sex house. I’ve viewed similar. Was listed under “entertainment” 🤣🫣
