To be bloody delighted MAGA is dying

Just that really! 🥂

(for the record I’m not ultra left, would probably be a moderate Republican in the USA, but I cannot STAND the bully boys in MAGA and their hideous lack of accountability)

Delighted for the USA and it’s such a tonic to see everyone celebrating.

Should be amusing watching them tear each other to shreds, the finger-pointing, the denial of any culpability, the shifting of blame, the back-tracking, the lies about lies, and desperation to distance themselves from people they were cosying up to less than 24 hours ago for the sake of trying to save their own skins.

Seems like the US has finally woken up to the fact they are being governed by a criminal cartel of idiots, just a pity it's taken 10 years for what has always been obvious to dawn on so many.

I'd love to be happy but my concern is that the Democrats will squander this opportunity and double down on the woke bollocks that got them annihilated in the first place.

I worry about this too 😬 or they’ll be so set on infringing Trumps movements that they won’t focus on the bigger picture and listen to what the people want and need.

Bandsis · Yesterday 17:32

DT's response seems eerily reasonable so far.

Sadcafe · Yesterday 17:33

Great to see so many Americans finally realising what much of the world has known for the last two years. The real worry though is that Trump, penned in on domestic policy will instead turn to making the world itself a more dangerous places by starting wars in places like Cuba, siding even-more with Russia and completing destroying NATO

FriggadyDiggady · Yesterday 17:35

It is good, but it's a bit depressing that it seems to be purely about prices going up. Harris lost in 2024 cos of inflation, and now Trump has lost due to inflation. It's true that he caused the inflation with his war, but a bit sad that this is what it takes to get people to reject the Trump regime when there are many other good reasons for doing so.

HeyUpDuckie · Yesterday 17:37

I hope they release the full Epstein files, impeach him and jail him for life.

I saw a brilliant song on Instagram which listed about 60 awful things that the current administration did that voters were all ok with, and ended with "But I guess the gas prices got too hiiiiiigh".

Without Googling OP, name the leader of the US Democratic Party.

InterIgnis · Yesterday 17:41

I remember people thinking this in 2020, and a similar sentiment in 2008.

It’s the economy. In times of economic upheaval voters tend to swing away from the incumbent. In the next election, it could easily swing back.

I don't think most people could name the Republican leader either.

Without Googling OP, name the leader of the US Democratic Party.

But why does that matter? Why does the OP need to know that to celebrate the downfall of a bullying, unstable, corrupt meglomaniac? MAGA has been a poisioning force in not just American politics but also in our own - and there's a lesson in his humbling for those who peddle in division and fear-mongering instead of addressing people's every day concerns.

They'd be going down with him though!

Topseyt123 · Yesterday 17:43

I'm very pleased at the results, but I truly hope the Democrats can capitalise on this opportunity rather than squander it.

I'm not holding my breath.

They won’t because they’re in them too.

There isn't one...?

Vitrolinsanity · Yesterday 17:48

That’s the thing @InterIgnisvoters are very fickle. Should Trump sort the Iran shitshow and gas prices drop there is no guarantee of a Democratic President win. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as pleased as punch Trump’s got a black eye in the mid-terms especially in hard core Rep states.

Because that person will need to make a lot of tracks to become President in two years time. This is a win based on gas price in the here and now.

DT's response seems eerily reasonable so far.

It’s a significant defeat, but not an unexpected one. The midterms very frequently go against the sitting president. He was always going to struggle because of the war in Iran, fuel prices, cost of living etc. and that’s before him struggling because…well…he is a moron

The real worry is what he does over the next two years and how he relies on his executive powers to do whatever he wants

Mike Johnson is toast. 😎

I'm hoping Schumer will go as Dem leader too.

Immediate priorities, stop the war, and roll back the tariffs. I think releasing the Epstein files is right up there.

It's still the economy, stupid, to paraphrase James Carville.

I hope it dies

I will hold a fucking wake, there will be champagne and dancing

I hope they can get some laws passed that will help Ukraine for a change. But got a horrible feeling Trump can prevent this happening. Wonder if we'll ever find out if there's any particular reason he's been cosying up to Putin.
