Shocked that no one helped the girl on the train

14 year old SA in trained

I am being unreasonable in think people need to stop being so absorbed on their phones whilst out in public. It seems no one helpped this child whilst she was being raped because they were too busy on their phones.

Autistic girl, 14, 'sexually assaulted on train by Afghan migrants'

Baryalai Rahimi, 25, and Mirebadurahman Sadat, 29, are said to have spotted the runaway teenager at a station in rural Kent before following her onto the London-bound train on February 5.

Calling racism didn't work well with the grooming gangs, have we learned nothing since? Sickened by the whataboutery on this thread to defend the indefensible.

I completely agree but this is how grooming goes unnoticed/under prosecuted because the girls (and boys) are ‘choosing’ to be there.

I had similar experiences growing up, as did many of my friends.
I also work with both victims and perpetrators now.
But not much has changed because the girls ‘want’ to be there.

That is how grooming works because it makes the victim feel that they are in control and don’t realise anything is actually wrong.
They want to be there and don’t believe they are being groomed or used.

That's exactly it. I remember how it felt to be flattered by older men, I was approached ALOT during my younger teen years. It's such an awful, horrible thing to witness as an adult. Some of my friends slept with them (a friend at 14 got pregnant to a 34 year old!) but I'm glad I was wise enough to know that men of their age must have something wrong with them to try to connect with girls my age.

Quite tired from the racist trope being dished out at any opportunity

Diverting away from the issue that MOST committing MOST of the crimes in this country are MEN!

Of course some countries are less developed. Of course the way crimes are recorded are different in each country. Of course some women and girls will be more likely to report assaults and crime in some countries compared to others - eg there’s huge under reporting in Uk due to low conviction rates unlike in Scandinavian countries.

Happened to me lots, I always found it creepy and wrong, but I know how vulnerable younger children and teenagers are. It’s awful.

This poor girl. She's been let down by so many people. Who on earth taught her to pacify men? She was basically served up on a platter for these beasts.

So if you witnessed it why didn't you help?

Other men were intervening and then teen lads got involved. As a 60 year old disabled woman, I'm not much use. I've been quite impressed by how the teen lads in our area and surrounding it, will call out adult men, from the HMOs, formally from local hotels, sexually harassing or verbally abusing female children. They'd get called thugs across the press and on here. I was quite scared at a bus stop, at only about 9pm, one night, because I knew that I had to step in, the chat towards to girls around 13 was getting inappropriate, but a group of lads around 14 came to the rescue. I don't want to use girls because they aren't always teens, they are children. We had the situation that teens coming out of school had to film their harrasment, in the hope the Police would react. You probably aren't going to believe that the parents, were told not to congregate around the school, but nothing was said to the perpetrators. That's what started one particular riot. Now these pedophiles are going to cost the country £60k a year in prison. But let's concentrate on benefit cuts again, because that's all you hear as a solution to everything.
I still remember my post, which outlined the new drill being taught in schools, after the Southport stabbings, being deleted. Even though it had been featured on ITV NW news. It's all quite incredible.

Do you think it's the government's fault when white British men rape kids, too?

Because that happens a great deal more often than kids being raped by refugees. There will be hundreds more sex crimes committed by white British men than by Afghan refugees.

The Daily Mail wouldn't even bother reporting this case if the defendants were British, and if they did, they'd totally be blaming the victim. They only give a shit about women and girls when it gives them a chance to stir up racist reactions.

Immigrants from Afganistan are seven times more likely to commit a rape offence than a white male in the UK

I posted links showing some 30 rapes and gang rapes that have taken place in the last year or so by Afghan (not Syrian, not Eritrean, not Iraqi, not Somalian, not Iranian) ‘asylum’ seekers. This was a totally non exhaustive search, I literally just pasted the first 15 or so links that came up.

Given there are 40,000 Afghan refugees in the UK, this is the same as a town the size of Fleet having 30 odd stranger or gang rapes every year (probably more as my list was not exhaustive).

I think it's 3-4 if you adjust for age and gender but it's still way too high

the thread has diverged away from the crime itself and the girl who will carry this for life, even with trauma therapy... along with the impacts on her family and friends

See I never saw that is was weird or that something was wrong with them. I came from a very dysfunctional home which probably didn’t help. I probably didn’t even realise I was a victim until my 20s and my DD was older because in my mind everything that happened was my choice and I wanted it to happened.

I remember being picked up in my school uniform many times or being picked up and school and then returned so I could catch the bus.
I remember loving it at times but then it makes me sick thinking about it now.

Like you say, as adult it’s absolutely horrific to witness and a lot of the girls I work with cannot see anything wrong in what’s happening because they feel the same way I felt 20+ years ago.

Do you also comment on white British men raping children? Because the stats on that are much higher. What are you doing to ask the government to do something about that?

Laurmolonlabe · Yesterday 19:37

So what do you think the actual story might be?

There are plenty of possibilities, who knows,?What l do know is that the amount of Migrants we get from Afghanistan these days is as close to zero as makes no odds.

They’re higher because there’s far far more white British men.. in Britain.

Have you heard of the saying ‘per capita’?

This.

Honestly, even just speaking from a purely observational perspective, there seem to be SO many of these crimes committed by asylum seekers. I see at least a few a week. Thats a lot for a supposedly small group of people.

Why do we not see the same committed by any other group? Chinese men? Nigerian men? Filipino men?

The crimes are obviously real, but I do think it's worth acknowledging the focus would not be the same if it was Chinese men or Filipino men or British men. The right wing papers are clearly choosing to put these stories front and centre and publicise them heavily when there is a link to asylum seekers or muslim offenders and black offenders. There are political powers and money at play and newspapers like the Daily Mail are absolutely wanting to create this thought in your head that there is so much crime from these people. Lots of those stories that are front and centre in the British right wing press aren't even from this country, but if they fit the narrative, they will go in and go in big. I've even seen them dig out ten/ fifteen/ twenty year old news stories and run them like they are new, it's crazy. There was one story about an asylum seeker who raped a girl in Sunderland and they ran that story so much, I remember thinking something new had happened before I checked the date and saw the article referred to the older crime.

I DO think there is an issue with the checks and security of the current asylum process. I would like more governmental debate about it. I think they are being too careless about their current resettlement of likely very damaged individuals. But I can also see the distortion and manipulation in the press and I don't think it's helping, because the real discussion starts to get lost inside nonsense about Christmas tree packaging and aggressive nationalist poppies.

Sorry but this is absolute bollocks - ‘I guarantee there is just as much crime from X group but they don’t report it’ - go on then, prove it.

The vast majority of ‘stranger’ rapes are covered by at least local news.

I challenge you to find 30 Chinese men who have raped or gang raped passersby in the last year.

Go on, prove me wrong.
