I am being unreasonable in think people need to stop being so absorbed on their phones whilst out in public. It seems no one helpped this child whilst she was being raped because they were too busy on their phones.

What I've linked has more detail, including the girl being kissed and hugged tight when a ticket inspector came passed. That poor girl was assaulted in sight of so many people.

So if you witnessed it why didn't you help?

You do realise that there are a lot more white British born men in the UK than there are Afghan male refugees in the UK.

A refugee is far more likely to be reported in the first place than a white man, and then far more likely to be convicted as well.

Is that because they are more likely to have committed stranger rapes/street rapes so easier to convict? Hardly reassuring.

People need to be more active, but I know folk are worried. But, anyone can say to a person/child, "Do you know this person"? And then let them answer you. I would certainly do this

@Ponoka7 the ticket inspector has a case to answer then for not doing their duty and noticing this was a child and a sexual assault rather than an adult and consensual behaviour.

We can start by not letting men in from some of the worst nations on earth for women.

Except that the exact same phenomenon is observed among, eg, Somali men in Denmark - which never colonised them and whose language is unlikely to be taught in their schools.
Afghan men are high up on Danish crime lists too.

It looks as though it's the fault of the men and the society they come from, and not the country that so kindly accorded them asylum.

Let's assume you're European and the mum of a DD who lives on the continent. I think if they were taking a trip to London you'd wish them well and be excited for them. If they were going to Kabul for example you'd be terrified for them and their physical safety.

It's not "regardless" though. There are abusive men everywhere, but rates of domestic violence, rape and femicide vary widely around the world depending on how socially acceptable male violence is in various countries.

It's no coincidence for example that Mexico, with its tradition of machismo has one of the highest rates of femicide in the world. Is it racist to say that too?

I'm not shocked. I'm saddened, but not shocked. I was assaulted on a bus at the same age. I did feel able to say no to the point that I asked other passengers to help me, and they pretended they couldn't hear me. My friend tried to tell the bus driver, who berated her for disturbing him while he was driving and told her to "just move seats".

The men (and one woman) who assaulted me were white, fwiw. They were locals.

Hi op I think you are forgetting people sit on phones listen to music etc is to be distracted purposely and to mind their own business. The men are too blame and I imagine any passenger will feel awful knowing this happened but no one can read minds. It’s a horrific experience for her but you blaming passengers is wrong.
