I did one of these threads under a different username a couple of years ago with hundreds and hundreds of replies and it genuinely brought me to tears. I can't find it to read back on.

I'm recovering from surgery and laying horizontal and was hoping some of you could revive your funny / cringy experiences to brighten my day.

After a long marriage, I have spent the last 3 years being superbly single and here are some that I have been through, which immediately gave me the 'ick.'

• I was taken on a lovely date in London. Really hit it off well. He drove me home (rooky error) and proceeded to indicate around every bend and curve in the road. I got home, thanked him for his time and blocked him.

• next one was a guy I was seeing for a few months. He told me 6 days in 'I generally really love you.' And would type Mabye instead of maybe. I just couldn't get over it.

• getting jiggy with someone. I proceeded to use my hand to help me along. After the deed was done and I (finally) got there, he proceeded to well up with actual tears and told me I shouldn't need to do that, and to give him constructive feedback on his performance so I wouldn't need to do that in future. I didn't sleep with him again.

• Those fucking ridiculous ballerina socks men wear. This might be trivial but I just wait for any bloke wearing them to burst into a full pirouette. This was also the same guy as above.

• Another hinge guy would send 😂 after every message. What are you up to today? 😂
I'm just getting home from work 😂

I have so many more. Many many more. Please tell me your experiences to remind me why I need to stay single!

Two words - skid marks

My two words - micro penis.

CorvidDreams · 25/10/2026 18:20

A blind date - the guy a) calmly told me that he'd just been diagnosed with body lice and b) also told me what his religion is, and that if I didn't convert I would burn in hell! I assumed he didn't fancy me and this was his way of putting me off, but then he invited me on a 2nd date!!!! (I didn't go!)

Aaaallthefood · 25/10/2026 18:27

Went on a first date into town, all was well, until we left one bar to walk to another and he started approaching people in the street offering ‘free hugs’ 🤣🤣🤣

OrneryWorld · 25/10/2026 18:31

I dated a bloke who slept with his head tilted backwards like a pez dispenser 😧

Had been seeing a guy maybe a week, we went out for drinks on Christmas Eve and he told me he couldn’t wait to introduce me to his mum the next day - we had never spoken about spending Christmas at his house, he banged on way too much about how much his mum would love me, and it was all a bit Norman Bates for me.

Another guy on a blind date (set up by friends at work) gave me his home phone number and said he didn’t believe in mobiles?! This was 2012 and I didn’t realise people even used landlines still

Oh and one guy who tried to have full blown conversations with me whilst doing the deed. I finally lost it when he spent a whole sex session talking about his upcoming ski holiday, including what he was planning to have for dinner every night he was there. Boak

Lie back and think of England 🤢🤣

I was chatting to somebody for quite a few weeks before we met up. He described himself as tall, dark and handsome.
He was tall
He was dark (with the help of dye I think)
He was NOT handsome.

The really off-putting thing was that he had his shirt unbuttoned half way down his chest, he had an enormous amount of chest hair, and he was wearing a medallion.

I went on a few dates with a guy from work when I was at uni. I hadn’t really noticed beforehand that he called everyone by their full names, but on our second date when he started talking about “my brother David Smith” and “my sister Sarah smith” I realised it wasn’t just a work habit. I just couldn’t deal with everyone having their full name forever.

The other one was a guy who seemed very lovely, but his Mum phoned while we were out and she was telling him something really quite serious and he kept saying “no no..: no no…. no no…. Yeah yeah… no no….” the whole time she was speaking and the no bits reminded me of the nodding dog insurance advert. Didn’t see him again after that and my best friend still mentioned Churchill if we chat about bad dates.

Sounds like that bloke on Vicar of Dibley 🤣

Good grief, I thought this type was extinct 🦕😂

Really bizarre criteria for judging a partner.

Surely the most important thing for a person is that he isn't a tough guy or a thug, that he doesn't drink or gamble, that he's thoughtful and compassionate, and that he listens more than he speaks.

That’s not my criteria.

DilemmaDelilah · 25/10/2026 19:00

@Ladygodalmighty To be fair it was more than 20 years ago... but it was very old-fashioned even then!

Ladygodalmighty · 25/10/2026 19:06

innersilentscreams · 24/10/2026 18:37

Referred to staff who worked for him on his team as his 'minions' and had a sniff at the end of every sentence, in and out, that i just couldn't get past. Shallow I know.

One drank a budweiser beer at 9am in the morning when I stayed at his for the first time.

Went back to the hot guy at uni's house, listening to music, and when we were in this bed, I looked down and could see between the bed and the wall, on the floor, a pillow absolutely covered in boogies.

🤮🤮🤮🤮

He said he never pooed and anyone who did was disgusting

Eh?

My ex claimed never to fart. He did when he was asleep. He would get furious if I farted and I'm a human wind tunnel.

ForQuirkyFawn · 25/10/2026 19:07

There is nothing as queer as folk, is there...

Dated one guy who when he w**ked himself off would do it with 2 hands, 1 either side and his finger tips just touching each side. It was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen. So I dumped him immediately.

Also dated a guy who asked me for a "handy". So gross. He also used to say "okie dokey".

One boyfriend was so cheap he would buy a loaf of bread, keep it in the freezer and just take out a slice at at time to defrost. Unbelievable.

I've done the bread thing for years. A sliced loaf will last eight weeks in this house. No way could we leave it out in a bread bin. It would be green.

KellyAnne47 · 25/10/2026 19:22

A guy on holiday tried impressing me by telling me he would always go down on a girl first, and shag/dry hump the bed.. cum.. so he lasted longer when they properly got down to it. He truly thought this was genius. Fucking weirdo

ASuitableName · 25/10/2026 19:22

@BakedInAButteryFlakyCrust “running like a pencil” 🤣

NormasArse · 25/10/2026 19:27

Turned up for a date wearing a Mickey Mouse tie.

It was the 80s, but still.

I went out with a 'Guy' many moons ago who would make me sleep in his spare room after we had done the deed, then invite me back into his bed in the morning for another session. He would always have an ice lolly after sex healthier than smoking I suppose
He would also kindly inform me when he was cumming! Not sure how we lasted as long as we did😄

Thewonderfuldollypartonsbra · 25/10/2026 19:52

His spunk was clear

It was like wiping water instead of the creamer looking stuff

He never made a noise as he came

He also thought he was a sex god who knew everything about sex

Spoiler-he wasnt and didn't
