The concept that Hamas give a flying fig for Palestinians is one of the most successful scams ever. Hamas is a death cult whose motivation and objectives are the destruction of Israel and the murder of all Jews. Palestinians are useful colateral damage to Hamas because their deaths increase negativity towards Israel.

I think the collective brainwashing of the entire world to think Hamas is some sad group of downtrodden freedom fighters who only want to create a peaceful two state solution is quite confusing. The war isn’t between Israel and Palestine - it’s Israel versus Hamas and ISIS and the Taliban and the Muslim Brotherhood and all the governments funding them. The Palestinian families trapped between Egypt and Israel are incredibly unfortunate, but if Israel decided to throw all their weapons away and march into the sea tomorrow, that wouldn’t solve anything for the Palestinians.

Which areas are you thinking off? I'm in Bucks, which is one of only a few 'full grammar' counties (others have some, like Berkshire has some in Slough, but aren't full grammar counties). The 6 grammar schools we viewed were majority white students, with approx 25% non white. These 25% included Black, Sikh, ? Hindu and Muslim students, there was by no means a Muslim majority.
Every child in my daughters primary who passed the 11+ was white except 1.

I tried to explain to friend of mine just how different the level of risk was for Jews compared to anyone else in the UK (after she'd come over 'all lives matter' on me when I'd raised the issue on FB). I don't think it sank in.

A Jewish friend of mine, the son of refugees, said to me a while ago that he'd thought that the human race had finally grown up and largely got past antisemitism. Now he reckons that he's just happened to have lived most of his life in a golden age, but we're back to business as usual. His children are entering their adult lives and I can't imagine how he and his wife must feel.

Ours has done that too. Cheder (Jewish Sunday school) has CST security guards and police officers stationed outside. We have been advised to conceal mezuzahs, kippahs, stars of David...

Certainly there is racism against Jewish people in the UK. Everyone should condemn it, without reservation. I think the school security issue may be broader, in some cases at least. Some schools have had security for years, often against loitering drug dealers or fears about violence from outside.

Compare this thread to anti (illegal) immigration threads. Spot the difference. Loads of posters claiming racism where none exists. Antisemitism is an uncomfortable concept for different reasons. Not even 8 pages worth of contributions here.

No mainstream schools in the UK have to have the amount of security which Jewish schools have.

To anyone reading this thread who believes that the antisemitism Jewish children are experiencing in schools today is because of the war in Gaza, I think it’s important to understand that this was happening long before the conflict.
I’m in my forties and I experienced antisemitism at primary school, mostly from other pupils, but also from some teachers. No one seemed to know how to deal with it and nothing was ever done.
The impact was that I hid this part of myself for many, many years. It’s only more recently that I’ve become more open about it. Even now, I’m extremely careful about who I tell.
The war in Gaza didn’t create antisemitism. Sadly, it has provided the latest excuse for people to express their hatred of Jews more openly than we’ve seen in a long time. And to feel justified in doing so. Jewish children were experiencing this decades ago, as I know from personal experience. We can stop treating antisemitism as a problem that can be explained away by Israel.
The number of times I was told as a child to ‘go back to Israel.’ And now funnily enough, the message is the opposite ‘You don’t belong in Israel, you belong in Europe.’
