Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

I think I’ve found my people - honestly I have never in my life encountered so much ignorance.

Especially from far left leaning people I know, who seem more susceptible to the free Palestine cult. When I am tired of explaining, I send them this resource from the Anne Frank museum.

The piece about Zionism is especially helpful given the recent Green Party debacle.

Antisemitism

Antisemitism means hatred of Jews. How is it possible that it has been around for centuries? Watch the video, read the answers to frequently asked questions, and watch the personal stories.

I’ve never been more of a Zionist in my life and I was born in Israel (to American parents who were only there temporarily so am only technically Israeli). My university union is calling for a ‘end of Zionism in all forms on and off campus’ and I both don’t understand what that means and also very much understand it means they don’t want me around.

I don't understand how your employer is getting away with allowing unlawful action to be going in their workplace. Education and health are notorious for this.

Greenmouldycheese · 22/10/2026 22:31

This is terrible and shouldnt be happening.

Surely it's incitement to hatred?

A lot of the woke demographic used to believe that ethnic minorities can't be racist. I wonder if that belief is still widespread.

That could be implied. On a moral and equitable level, these employees and fellow students are being irresponsibly regressive.

Can you please explain what exactly schoolchildren in the UK have to do with Palestine and it's freedom?

We had to call police Scotland to come to our Hebrew school a couple weeks ago. We are a tiny community and meet in a church hall so no formalised security. A member took a taxi there and her 4 year old told the taxi driver where he was headed. The driver said a few unsettling things and then made a phone call in Arabic so she couldn’t understand. So we had to call the police ‘and’ she had to tell her toddler to lie next time.

My son made us get off a bus in September as I said something about getting ready for Rosh Hashanah and he was scared someone heard us and would hurt us. So we hopped off the bus, had a hot chocolate and got on another one. We have to speak in whispers now but I just try not to say anything around strangers as I can’t tell him he’s wrong.

Good god @PurpleThistle7 the more you say, on this thread and on others, the angrier but also sadder I feel. What the fuck is wrong with people?! I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for you and your beautiful children and for all of the Jewish community. This needs to be addressed and urgently.

EmpressOfTheThread · 23/10/2026 09:45

I agree, @INeedAPensieve - distressing and shocking.
Then you look at the post from @HappyLizard23, and see the situation we're in.
A flag and a slogan that we've all seen a hundred times before.

I've seen a lot of posters use the term 'useful idiots' and I think this is very apt. You get the outright antisemites who may or may not deny it, depending on whether it is convenient for them, but I think there are also huge numbers of people who are genuinely upset at the accusations they may be antisemitic. They think they're fighting for justice but so completely caught up in conspiracy theories and propaganda that they have no idea they're being massive patsies.
I've been trying to patient with those people when I come across them because I think a lot of them simply don't hear anything outside of their political bubbles. They're always surprised when I disagree, no matter how politely.
But it is increasingly hard because what I really want to say is "Don't be so bloody stupid"
Useful idiots, indeed.

Maybe if they move away from soundbites and actually look into facts and history they might realise there is more to it than Israel is the baddy and the Palestinians are innocent victims 🤔

Who knows. Perhaps they prefer to hate and join in with the marchers and their slogans without more deep thought 🤔

Exactly.

My point but the usual idiots conflating the issues as usual which leads to UK schoolchildren needed extremely high levels of protection to keep safe.

The poster with that comment shows their ignorance.

Of course they do. It's energising and exciting. I can see the appeal! Dressing up in costume with all your besties and screaming at people on the weekends. Being part of something and feeling like you're making a difference. All sounds fun - genuinely. And I do wonder if I'd have gotten wrapped up in this (if it had been a different issue) if I was 19 today. I was a big follower and got bored easily so it's not impossible.

Beyond the chaos and fear they're creating for my life, I really worry about where this is going. There is a 'lot' of money funding this - from where? The long term affects of selling our educational institutions to the middle east terror groups is really concerning.

Maybe the poster gained some awareness of how that comment which is directing often to UK Jewish schoolchildren too is totally unacceptable 🤔

Maybe they looked at themselves? Or perhaps their inappropriate comment was reported and deleted.

I'm sorry for those marchers and the way they behave towards Jewish people in the UK.

I'm sorry they scream and chant soundbites.

I really hope the government increase education around antisemitism and make a stronger stand against hate speech on our streets and towards our citizens.

Soundbites and slogans, badges, banners and flags. So superficial, about a very complicated situation.

I genuinely don't think the government gives a real fuck. Some within the government perhaps but they have been paying mostly lip service to combating anti semitism for years now.

After Miliband put sanctions on Israeli goods he was interviewed on Radio 4. Again he parroted 'I'm a proud British Jew'. The interviewer asked him if he understood how afraid British Jews were about going to synagogue on Yom Kippur and asked what would he say to them if he went to synagogue. He just said that he doesn't go to synagogue and didn't think any British Jew had a reason to be afraid.

That's a year after the Heaton Synagogue murders.

I just felt such utter contempt for the man.

The dream of 50% of children having the opportunity for further education straight from school means that even more young idealists get exposed to ideas they don't have the perspective to interrogate, it was a known 'cold war' issue for oxbridge. They move through into teaching, the unions & civil service. They are often a cheaper hire with energy & enthusiasm but limited experience.

In the UK we influence & are influenced by other cultures that settle here. We should aim to assimilate the good and reject the bad. At this moment in our history we have that arse about face. Sectarianism is destructive, and this movement is sectarianism in action, you'd think with our past we'd recognise it when we saw it.

This is a thread about UK Jewish children who need very high levels of security just to attend school in the UK. These children shouldn't have to live with fear and hatred here. Shouting your slogans here shows complete lack of the understanding of problems faced by UK Jewish schools.

Go start your own thread about Gaza. This is not the place. Have some insight into the problems faced by Jewish people in the UK.

Have some dignity and try empathy for UK citizens who just happen to be Jewish and face huge amounts of antisemitism.
