Airbnb, how many towels per person, would you expect to be provided?

I stayed at an Airbnb last weekend with my daughter and we were provided with 1 bath towel for the 2 of us! We let it go as only for 2 nights.

Now I'm in Spain with my DH for a longer period. The flat is lovely, but only 2 bath towels provided! How do hosts expect people to dry their hair when stepping out of a shower! My DH is on the case and is getting 2 hand towels delivered later.

AIBU to expect 2 towels?

I have shoulder length hair. Use a towel on body then hair. What’s a hair turban other than a marketing pitch?

It's a really useful thing, actually. I've had it for about 30 years, don't remember any particular marketing around it.
My hair is past my waist. I can't dry my body with wet hair cloaking the top half of it. It's preposterous to even think of doing it that way round. But if it works for you, I don't see what the issue is.

Always a bath towel and hand towels

NewNose · 25/10/2026 00:26

I used to manage 2 large, luxury Airbnbs. We would provide a hand towel in each bathroom (for hand drying), and one large bath sheet per guest. In all the years I was there and of all the weird and wonderful complaints we got, towels were never mentioned. Oh actually one person complained that the towels weren’t all the same colour, it was a property that slept up to 12 so we pointed out that having different coloured towels was intentional, so you’d know yours was the blue one or whatever.

CuteHANDBAG · 25/10/2026 00:29

A bath towel and a hand towel each. Any less is not ok

Not the point of the thread, but I think having a separate towel for your hair is really twatty

Then I am twatty

Why is it twatty ? I have fairly long hair - when I cone out if the shower (or bath) I wrap myself in a bath sheet and then wrap my hair in a hand towel to absorb the moisture whilst I get dry and apply body lotion or body oil. If I didn’t use a towel for my hair it would be dripping all over me /the floor

I could literally dry my whole body and hair on a hand towel and not feel any discomfort. I hate the ridiculous pamper culture of multiple towels! Just get out of the shower, dry yourself and move on with your day. It doesn't need multiple towels and taking an hour to dry

“Pamper Culture” , seriously 😂

I may use a bath sheet and then heavens above a separate towel on my head but I don’t take an hour to dry my elephantine like body and I do use body lotion or oil as well . I am also even more wasteful as I have a shower and hair wash every morning and a bath every night

suburberphobe · 25/10/2026 01:17

Solo mum.Always stay in a hotel.

Not doing AirBNB. Fuck that doing other people's house work.

Probably safer, chat to the lovely receptionist go outside for a fag or joint.
What's not to like?

OriginalSkang · 25/10/2026 07:36

Perhaps "I'm so girly and cute that I physically neeeed five towels to possibly be half dry" "cringe" culture would have been a better term? 😉

Yeah I think 2 towels is twatty as well. Save the energy!

Exactly

But no one is answering- how do you get from the bathroom to the bedroom without being completely naked? I don’t bring my clothes into the bathroom(who does that? Deciding what to wear is the last thing I do when getting ready).
i have very thick porous hair so even after I wring my hair out it drips everywhere so need a towel to keep water going everywhere.
also I don’t have an en suite- is mumsnet just full of people who don’t share bathrooms with their family? I don’t much fancy doing a naked run across my landing with my kids about.

KiwiFall · 25/10/2026 08:11

I expect one large and one hand towel per person. Then a bath mat and hand towel for each bathroom. A lot of hotel and air B&Bs only provide 2 per person and theres never a hand towel in the bathroom for washing hands. Winds me up and I always ask for another towel.

In the same light vein maybe you have misspelt your name? 😉

Saturdaysfairies · 25/10/2026 10:26

1 bath and 1 hand towel should be standard.

And hand towels for bathroom and kitchen.

I always bring an extra towel to dry my hair.

A dressing gown. Why would you take a wet towel to the bedroom?
or whatever you wore to get to the bathroom in the first place.

Tortephant · 25/10/2026 11:18

I’m quite amused by the number of people obliviously saying they use a “hand” towel for their hair.

Itiswhysofew · 25/10/2026 11:23

I always used to put 2 bath towels each, 2 hand towels each in the bathrooms for a short stay.

I stayed in a hotel last week for 2 nights and was given 1 bath towel & 1 hand towel, which was enough for me.

I don’t wear a dressing gown. Don’t own one. not putting dirty pjs back on. Yes take town the bedroom get dried off, get changed and take towel back to bathroom. I can’t imagine that is that strange for most people!

well that’s your answer. A towel texture one. That’s their purpose!! To absorb any extra moisture after your shower and allow you to move around your home with damp hair. Keep your warm. Do your makeup or whatever then get dressed. Bathrobe is the correct term and they exist for good reason!!

Struggling in to understand how this is better than just another towel?

Lots of hotels and b&bs etc don’t provide dressing gowns. Towels go to the bedroom as thats where I dress, they then get hung up or put in the wash. I can’t get dry enough to dress on a hairwash day with one towel as I have Asian (so very thick) almost waist length hair. I also don’t put dirty clothes back on after showering as thats a dirty thing to do.

Really?! It's not that difficult to comprehend. It's very different, give it a go.

It ok. I’ll just stick with 2 towels. Far less washing.
