Airbnb, how many towels per person, would you expect to be provided?

I stayed at an Airbnb last weekend with my daughter and we were provided with 1 bath towel for the 2 of us! We let it go as only for 2 nights.

Now I'm in Spain with my DH for a longer period. The flat is lovely, but only 2 bath towels provided! How do hosts expect people to dry their hair when stepping out of a shower! My DH is on the case and is getting 2 hand towels delivered later.

AIBU to expect 2 towels?

Learn to dry yourself with a flannel.

Not the point of the thread, but I think having a separate towel for your hair is really twatty

so which do you get to dry - your body or your hair?

BigBadPotato · 21/10/2026 11:27

The norm generally is a bath towel and a hand towel per person but my ideal would be a bath sheet, a bath towel and a hand towel per person.
As an aside, I can’t believe pp are so baffled by wrapping hair in a towel. I refuse to believe it hasn’t been seen, if not in person then in a film or on tv 😂

TheBrambleDormouse · 21/10/2026 11:28

I've never had this issue, it would really annoy me! And I go on a lot of breaks, ranging from lovely plush properties to a grotty air B&B in Blackpool earlier this year (not slating it at all, they were fantastic hosts but in comparison)!
Always had more than enough towels.

AllTheToddlers · 21/10/2026 11:31

One each. I hate that they give you tiny bath towels and not sheets

To wrap your hair in to stop the wet hair dripping on the rest of your body while you dry off. I assumed everyone did this, unless they had very short hair. And even if you have short hair yourself, have you not seen other women wrap their hair up when it’s wet?

I don't have short hair but have never used a separate hair towel. I've also never been showering with other women so wouldn't have seen others do this.
I use a bath sheet and dry my hair while the bath sheet is still around me.

So you don't go swimming or to a gym?

No, haven’t swam for 40yrs and never set foot in a gym

This.

Why ? I need to wrap my v long thick hair in a towel so I can then dry my body. Hand towels are too small for my hair. They can’t contain the bouffant.

@OriginalSkang tell us you’ve got short hair without telling us you’ve got short hair! A quick towel ruffle before drying your body doesn’t cut it for anything longer than a couple of inches

I was thinking that! I have a lot of hair. If there is only towel you have the debate of do I dry myself first and then do hair but have my hair dripping all over the floor while I do my body first or do I freeze while I do my hair first and then have to dry myself with a completely sodden towel.

Yeah when I only have one I have to dry my body while I’m bent down so my hair drips onto the shower, then when my bodies dry I wrap my hair in the wet towel.

OriginalSkang · 21/10/2026 12:11

I have long curly hair and don't need a separate towel for it! I squeeze the water out of my hair, pat it slightly with the towel (half hearted curly girl style) and then use the towel for my body. I don't prance around the house with my hair wrapped up on my head because I just need it and its not possible to get dry without it or whatever

Sorry, no justification for me thinking its twatty, really! It just is to me. Apologies!

I think it very much depends on the length and texture/porosity of your hair.
I can squeeze mine out, but it's still dripping and very wet.
I use one of those ready formed turban things - just have to remember I'm wearing it before I go out.

FiveEightNine · 21/10/2026 12:18

For 1-2 nights, one normal-sized towel per person, bath mat, extra hand towel in the bathroom.

Many people don't use more than one, but everything made available must be washed anyway.

For longer stay two (bigger and smaller) per person.

eh? Do you have a buzz cut or something? I have long thick hair. I definitely need a towel to wrap it in while
i I dry my body with another one. Otherwise I’d just be soaked down my back again by all the water running out of it (even when squeezed out in shower. My hair holds a lot of water!)

EveryoneUsingOutro · 21/10/2026 12:22

ChocolateApples · 21/10/2026 09:50

It's so much more convenient. I squeeze as much water as I can out of my hair, but then you want to be able to wrap it up for a while to soak into the towel. If I have to use my bath towel it's much more faff. And I can't walk back to my bedroom with it round my head because I'm naked. Plus the bath towel will be annoyingly large on my head.

Exactly!

Catza · 21/10/2026 09:58

It has never been a problem for me, honestly. I get out of the shower, dry my body, use the same towel to dry my hair, then do an extra pat around the shoulders and back. Get dressed. Blow dry my hair.
If the towel is big enough (which, granted, AirBnB towels rarely are) then I use the ends of the towel to dry my hair while the rest of the towel is still wrapped around my back.
When I stay at my friend's she always gives me a separate towel for my hair and I have no idea what I am supposed to do with it.

You really have “no idea” how to use a towel for your hair? 😂 come off it.

viques · 21/10/2026 12:24

I am happy to use Hotel / B and B towels, but I really get the shudders at the thought of using a hotel/ bb face flannel. Same difference but no,never, gross, vomit!

EveryoneUsingOutro · 21/10/2026 12:29

Tortephant · 21/10/2026 11:17

I have shoulder blade length hair. No. Never done that and why would I need to?

no never seen anyone do that and don’t know where or why I would be in a bathroom with another woman!

Do you have fine hair? My thick hair holds so much water it’s like a cascade down my back!

Have you NEVER been in a gym or swimming pool changing room??

The bath sheet thats around my body. They are huge so can do my hair while the bath sheet is round my body.

Do people really not just take their own towels?
I always take my own.

Of course not, unless you know you specifically need to. If you’re not travelling by car who wants to fill their luggage with towels and then even if in a car have to take them home damp. Ugh.

But the bath towels in hotels and air b&bs often aren’t huge bath sheets. And you can’t turban a huge towel!
