Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · 18/10/2026 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

Knowing that kids stay in hotels and will be able to hear it and still enjoying being noisy is very weird.

I personally hate other people making any kind of noise that disturbs my peace in any context, but the focus on sex and children in this thread is a red herring.

People getting it on are REALLY not thinking about your children (unless they have a rare paraphilia). Your children, of whose existence they have no knowledge, are simply not the focus of other people's every action. Shocking, right?!

Sex is way better when you can let go and be noisy, I find it hard to cum when I need to be quiet personally, everyone’s different.

Scandelabra · 18/10/2026 19:46

Just a recommendation for women on this thread based on prior bad experiences, best to keep your PMs turned off.

Sorry, I thought you were a man because of the comments telling women they need to find someone to give them ‘uncontrollable and involuntary noisy orgasms’ and suggesting that women don’t ‘enjoy sex’ if they don’t want to hear it loudly in a hotel. It was just that familiar tone. Woman, then. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the apology, however, you've twisted what I actually said somewhat!

You can enjoy sex without wailing like a Banshee so the poor bastards in the room next door have to hear it. It’s performative.

But noisy sex doesn't always mean wailing like a Banshee. I mean, occasionally, when sex is amazing and I've totally let go, I get noisy, but I've never wailed like a banshee or been performative. I've been lost in the moment, an amazing moment and been uncontrollably noisy.

There absolutely can be a difference between someone being performatively loud, and just naturally in the moment loud.

Hard agree, read my other comments on the difference.

Hard agree, read my other comments on the difference.

I have read your other comments.

I think a lot of people on here just assume that "noisy sex" automatically means "screaming like in a porno", or "wailing like a banshee", or being performative, whereas in my view, yes, it can be those things, it can also be naturally noisy without it being those things.

I also don't think that people having noisy sex in a hotel are necessarily doing it to be exhibitionists/attention seeking etc., they may simply be lost in the moment. Of course both can be true.

Which bit?

Scandelabra · 18/10/2026 21:49

Which bit?

"because of the comments telling women they need to find someone to give them ‘uncontrollable and involuntary noisy orgasms’"

I did not say that.

"and suggesting that women don’t ‘enjoy sex’ if they don’t want to hear it loudly in a hotel."

Nor did I say that.

You very much twisted two comments I made that certainly wasn't what you said above! It's very easy for you to find what I actually said, if you look down the quote history.

Apologies again, here’s the specific wording so people can make up their own minds. You said:

’Sounds like you've not met the one to give you those uncontrollable and involuntary noisy orgasms! 😉’

How long does “the moment” last though? OP described screaming for half an hour. Nobody orgasms for 30 solid minutes and the couple in question must have been making a hell of a racket to disturb OP for half an hour.

The debate isn’t really about noisy sex being better. Nobody is disputing that sex is better when you’re relaxed and your guard is down. But you wouldn’t stand under someone’s bedroom window playing a fucking trombone at 2am and expect them to say “Oh you knock yourself out. At least you’re having fun!” You’d expect them to be bloody livid that you’d woken them up. It makes zero difference if it’s a trombone or an orgasm. Nobody wants to be woken by noise in the middle of the night.

Some people are just exhibitionists. They get a kick out of people listening. No different to people who go dogging.

It really is very different!!

Best sentence of the thread though 😀 Feel like we might have an answer to this current thread:

Exactly, and neither of the things I said are the same as what you claimed I said. It seems like you've completely misinterpreted what I wrote. I suggest you stop embarrassing yourself further.

We can agree to disagree.

Not really, you're wrong. You said I said something I didn't, because you chose to completely misinterpret/take out of context what I actually said. You might want to have a think about that before you do the same to someone else.

To be honest, I couldn’t give a shit. I’m really not going to fuck in silence at all times, just on the vague off-chance that one of the hotel rooms near by might contain a random child. Adults are allowed to do adult things in hotel rooms.

Vulgar

Harry12345 · 19/10/2026 00:24

FrankieNeverRelax · 18/10/2026 13:32

That’s a them problem I’m afraid. Being a kid and hearing your own parents have sex is much worse than hearing strangers lol!

Kids shouldn’t be hearing other adults having sex, it’s vulgar that you think this is ok.

Harry12345 · 19/10/2026 00:36

Crushed23 · 18/10/2026 17:20

All of this.

Pandering to children is every parents’ prerogative, but expecting every other person in the vicinity to do the same is ridiculous.

I remember being on a train where a woman with Tourette’s kept repeatedly shouting the N word. Everyone on the train minded their own business but a family made a big show of moving their kids down the carriage. Instead of using it as an opportunity to perhaps educate their children about the disability and about empathy, they made complete tits of themselves and taught their kids that it’s okay to humiliate a disabled person to avoid mild discomfort because their needs come first.

And yes, I know swearing is involuntary in this case and sex noises perhaps are not, but complaining about hearing ‘ball slapping’ through thin walls and loud bed noises - what’s the couple supposed to do, silent positions only? Limit their fucking to on the floor?

So you make loud sex noises with your kids in another room? You’re ok with someone watching porn near your kids? I find this attitude really vulgar. I got woken up at age 6 to what can be described as I know now of rough/ screaming sex noises and it really affected me. Young children do not need to hear they noises. Quiet moans are one thing but that’s not what op is describing
