Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · 18/10/2026 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

Did you mean to be so rude? What part of the point I was making did you struggle with, because I was correct about everything.

Fair enough I shouldn’t have name called , for that I apologise.
It was unnecessary.
That said I struggle to understand a lot of your way of thinking .
Who said anything about being ashamed of our bodies ??
How the fuck do you honestly think it’s ok to have sex wherever you want whenever you want ???
This rubbish we’re all animals , “
look at the Apes our ancestor's , we should be more like them kind of thinking “
!

A question to everyone who is happy to keep other folk awake with their sex noises - would you be equally as happy for them to watch you have sex as you are to let them hear you have sex?

I think it’s because what you were saying sounded a lot like the grooming rhetoric used to bypass people’s reasonable boundaries.

Nottodaybob · 19/10/2026 15:46

I can honestly say I've never heard anyone in a hotel having sex so it wouldn't occur to me worry about making noise - if I can hear the next rooms TV, music or talking, I assume it's sound proof enough to not worry about the sex noise.

I only ever hear people in the corridor.

CarbootJunction · 19/10/2026 15:55

I'm sure some people women think they have to act like porn stars.

Or, maybe after an hour of thrusting, she was truly screaming in pain?

OonaStubbs · 19/10/2026 16:01

The only acceptable sex noise in a hotel is a brief satisfied sigh after the deed is done followed by a bit of pillow talk in hushed tones.

So you don’t want your children to hear it but if other kids do and people have an issue with it they’re prided and tough shit? What a horrible attitude

What?? It should be obvious from my posts on this thread, including the fact that I said 'Not that I see that as an excuse to be noisy in hotels instead' in the post you quoted, that I'm not in favour of noisy sex in hotels either. In other words, I don't think children should have to hear sex at all. And that's before I even get started on how you just put words in my mouth. Are you mixing me up with another poster, possibly?

What?! The 2 are completely different 😂

Being lost in the moment and enjoying great sex (that someone else can hear although you don't think about that because you're focussed on the great sex) vs putting on a public sex show 😂😂😂

So if a child was blind, you could have sex in front of them because they could only hear it and not view it?

I’m neither. But I don’t understand the difference. Why it is okay to be exposed to somebody else’s sex via one sense (hearing), but not another (sight)? You are still publicly having sex.

A hotel room isn’t a shared space.

Sonically it clearly is.

It's just different, obviously and I can't believe I need to explain thd difference. It's different in the same way you can see/hear people walking about everyday (sight and hearing) but it wouldn't be okay if these people came and started touching and sniffing you.

How come men can enjoy great sex 'lost in the moment' without waking up the neighbourhood

I'm assuming some can and some can't. I've not had sex with all the men, but the ones I have had sex with haven't been mute.

I've never over heard a man screaming yes yes yes

Courtesy isn't jealousy. People pay for a restful room, not front-row tickets to your personal life or a cloud of secondhand smoke. Shared spaces require basic respect.

Exactly!

A good way of avoiding answering a valid question I guess. By insulting them.

I didn't mean to be insulting, I was just surprised that someone would come out with such a crazy statement.

Sally did.

I haven't read the full thread, but yes, very noisy sex that wakes me in a hotel is as annoying as very noisy snoring, which I have experienced a couple of times.
The noisiest sex was in a next-door room, banging headboard, grunts, shrieks, even a thank you (female) when at last it ended.
The next morning the couple were leaving the room the same time as us....they were in their 60's at least, and he was the creep that had held on to my hand earlier the previous day when he passed me his camera and asked me to take their pic..

I'm sorry! I know I shouldn't laugh, but .... 😂

i've had sex that I'd been happy to go on longer than that. It was a long time ago but I remember.
