To make a complaint that at an awards ceremony at school, the head teacher commented on every single girl, that got an award looks, yet didn't say one word regarding a single boys looks?

I mean I feel ungrateful but it made me feel so uncomfortable,so it was a special assembly that parents attended where one boy and one girl from each class wo an award for the previous year

the head that's usually pretty good in general, yet in every mini speech he gave about the children, every single girl had some sort of comment about being gorgeous...just made me rage
Alongside all the other comments about how hard working they are, their good values like kindness etc yet there wasn't one single comment regarding any of the boys looks

It's just so insidious and depressing

Gorgeous here could mean lovely. As in, nothing to do with looks at all
I've just picked up my eldest, her early 20s teacher in a working class school in Grimsby, said she'd had a gorgeous day

I child understand it a bit more say this was an elderly head, it was still disappointing and upset me but he's not even old really
I do believe he actually mean it in a kind way, which is actaully even more depressing

I'm not really getting the disbelief.

Old school headteachers do exist, especially in private schools.

"old school"?
What , HTs who have ignored all the training, use of language, gendered wording, child protection and safeguarding?
What private schools are these inappropriate men in charge of?

SabrinaBricklayer · Yesterday 15:40

scienceteachersarefun · Yesterday 15:34

Quite. What HT would play fast and loose with their career like this?

I’d have thought they had training about what is and isn’t currently acceptable no matter your age, but I’m not in the teaching profession. 🤷‍♀️

If true there’s no excuse at 50 odd to be so ignorant of what is unacceptable. He’s well within the more enlightened age.

Wotsupmog · Yesterday 15:40

Beefybaby · Yesterday 15:36

I don't think he ment it offensively, he's actually a good head teacher imo, he greets all the children as they going in, in the morning, he's doesn't have to, makes himself visible so parents can approach, it's actually a fantastic school, yet this is just so disappointing girls still face this shite

He is being weird, complimenting young girls on their appearance. Very inappropriate, however charming he is.of course he doesn't mean to offend, he is attempting to charm.

An elderly head? Do you think they're exempt from basic standards?

Beefybaby · Yesterday 15:41

This is state school not private, a really good outstanding rated state school
I don't really wanna be that person that goes in to complain but jezze it just so annoying
I know this whole thing was so well intended as well

Torn between raising and just leaving it

They certainly do - it's renewed every year. It's not age dependent.
Every single teacher, no matter what age or level knows this.

You don't have to make a full on complaint if you don't want to. You can just "raise concerns"

Well either he said those things as you claim, or he didn't.
If it's the first - you complain.

PoppieCock · Yesterday 15:43

Why are you equating being absolutely gorgeous, with looking absolutely gorgeous?

They're two different things.

It's worse than annoying, he's out of order and needs pulling up.

Edited

Yes I don't get any weird vibes from him, so no red flags noted at all, he come across like he does actually really care about them all, some parents have said he's a bit of a showman but I don't get that vibe at all

Well if the comments end in and she's absolutely gorgeous....

Surely that's commenting on looks ..?
That's how I'd take that

It’s still very female related, more likely to be used towards behaviour favoured in girls

Because its made me sad and upset girls still fave this shite, and I don't want to go and complain, as that seems so ungrateful and I certainly don't think there was any malice there, I believe he was actually trying to hype them up

yet really it's just commenting about girls looks and not boys looks, and that's irrelevant

Several people on here have expressed shock and suggested you take some action, but you seem set against that?

He either did it or he didn't.
Why are you vacillating?

Bundleflower · Yesterday 15:51

If this happened, it would be helpful to have an example of what was actually said. Very hard to judge. Things like ‘gorgeous’ and ‘beautiful’ don’t necessarily mean about looks.
