If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

Just wear some yoga trousers, it’s not that deep.
I would ban threads about Harry and Meghan. Omg enough already!

I have been here since Brian from Hull and his massage offer but I don't think I have ever seen any threads about trousers on flights.

I would ban:
Faux naive wind up posts
Self absorbed AMAs
Anyone who finishes their OP with "Discuss" .
Fake OPs that span 3 plus threads complete with poets corner
Thread police and the same with S&G. I'm dyslexic and spell check can only do so much. Shaming me for misspelling won't make me any better at it.
Blatantly money begging posts. They are as obvious as they used to be, but they still crop up occasionally.
Name the MNetter who you lurve the most clique threads.

Oooh, the sycophantic 'which Mumsnetter do you really like' threads annoy me... They're very cliquey!

Lozlegs · Yesterday 17:34

oh and all the "SS/SD wants to move back in, I'd love them back but dd age 3 needs her bedroom, hobby room, en suite and walk-in wardrobe so there's no room sob"
. We all know you are the evil step parent, more respect if you stopped pretending and said you don't want them living with you.

Dandeloosha · Yesterday 17:34

Some poor sod with 3 kids being abused by their husband and some twat says, ‘Well why did you marry him in the first place?’

Maybe because he was hiding it when she married him, Sandra.

Is Brian from Hull in classics?

Yes. These ones are totally pathetic 🤣

Oh yes, "I only ever get on with men, they have a great sense of humour, I'm not a girly girl, women are bitchy and cliquey"
I. Hate. Those 😡

Anything along the lines of “I eat 5kg of cheese a week, I don’t know why I’m putting on weight” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh this reminds me of the lady a few months ago, who said she eats half of a 900 gram pack of cheese everyday, with handfuls of nuts, as snacks, and asked if it was healthy. Yes she was very overweight and extremely unhealthy. Baffles me!

zacsGranny · Yesterday 17:35

I haven't read the whole thread, but I would ban the show off threads like . . .

Should I buy this bag for £1750 to carry my lunch, or push the boat out and buy the £2570 one?

I only earn £117,000 and I'm struggling to put food on the table because my hair and nail appointments are so expensive.

I’m flying long haul to Hong Kong this week and it will be Levi 501s

Oh my goodness, that’s very outing! You need to ask MN to delete your post 😜

NimbleTaupeTiger · Yesterday 17:36

Shinebrightb · Yesterday 16:59

The posters who have £3000 a month left after paying all their bills and ask ‘is it enough to live on each month’ 🙄

Yes, anything to do with boasting about money..... how vulgar and mostly, I suspect, untrue. 😂

PatriciaRocks · Yesterday 17:37

I would ban all those ludicrous "I'm a sex worker AMA" because they're made up nonsense by someone with fantasies who doesn't understand about the tragedies of trafficking and abuse.

iCod · Yesterday 17:37

Wasn't Brian Yoni massage?

It’s the same 4 or 5 names every time

AnyFucker of course
Maryz
Bluntness (add any number ending in zero)
WorraLiberty
BertrandRussell

Then one of them will appear on the thread all faux bashful and simpery. It’s pathetic.

SL2924 · Yesterday 17:38

The PR disasters threads that never end. What sort of people just devote endless time slagging off everything about 2 famous people they don’t know? It’s the sort of toxic thread that demonstrates all that is wrong with social media.

KassandraOfSparta · Yesterday 17:38

Reverses.

People think they are being oh so clever, and they are just irritating and stupid.

FuroshusDogg · Yesterday 17:40

People who are more than seventeen years old overanalysing every tiny nuance of what their boyfriend said in a conversation or text message. If you need clarification, ask him.

CleverlyBeery · Yesterday 17:40

Tbh though I'd take any one of these over something written by Chat fucking GPT.

GrouvilleMaLuv · Yesterday 17:41

The threads where the partner’s hobby is causing the problem but the OP cannot possibly say which hobby as it is too outing. Spoiler alert, it’s usually fishing.

Yes, it gets a bit simpering playgroundy.

Thats the one.
A service that he was generously offering to random women on t'internet.

AMA where the poster doesn’t answer the questions.
But I do love it when someone more wealthy/qualified comes along and answers the questions.

My recent favourite threads are the posters who are angry with any form of consumerism and the OP desperately has to justify themselves for once popping into the range and picking up a lamp.

I saw one of these (Christmas box, I think, probably) and someone got reductio ad absurdumed right down to the point where she was claiming that literally everything she owned was essential to life and she didn't have a single thing in her house that she couldn't live without.

People with medical questions who seemingly would rather have 100 contradictory answers from unqualified randoms here, than look at NHS online, phone 111, or use other easily available sources of credible information and advice.

"It could be perimenopause"

  1. Use of the word gotten (Aaaaargh). Please. Stop.

Some of us are Irish. Gotten is completely correct here. I think some areas of Scotland use it too. Here in NI it isn’t just colloquial, it appears in official documents/letters/newspaper reports/novels etc. So no, I won’t be stopping any time soon😁

Isn't the answer to leggings always NO?!!!

Hey now! For some of us, leggings were a god send! Much more so than sliced bread or the person who figured out you could eat something coming out of a chicken's butt. Less so than the person who first experimented with cacao plants and invented chocolate. THAT person should be a Saint! Saint Aztec God, Saint Hershey, Saint Godiva....
