If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

OP posts:

Anything along the lines of “I eat 5kg of cheese a week, I don’t know why I’m putting on weight” 🤦🏻‍♀️

@YachtMistress Ask Me Anything, there's a topic for it

Thanks

Oh God I feel the same about those!

Mostly self-important twaddle, probably by those who missed the influencer boat.

I was going to say this!! I hate the AMA threads, and have hidden that board. I don't care about you, why do you think everyone cares about your life??? Hmm As you say, self important twaddle about someone else's life, and most of what they post is probably mostly made up anyway.

I also dislike the 'am I pregnant?' threads, with a photo of a pregnancy test that is clearly negative. Found these so annoying that I hid the pregnancy board.

Ditto the WLI boards. I got sick of seeing threads about WLI, trying to peddle them as the best thing invented since the wheel, with nothing in them about all the downsides to them. (And the fact that you will pile all the weight back on as soon as you stop using them!)

Also hate the 'How Old Am I?' threads. Upshot is that YOU LOOK YOUR AGE! Because EVERYONE DOES! It's nearly always women in their 40s and 50s, and they get guessed between 7 and 107. It's proper daft.

Any thread that starts off with 'I'm peri!'

Have you got your heating on yet? (When it's only dropped to 15C, and it's still September....)

It's tooooooooo HOT! (When it's only 22C - in JUNE.)

We go on holiday the day after tomorrow and my youngest child's passport was out of date 3 months ago! (Do you not check shit like passports before you book?!)

People slating people who don't want to answer the door to randoms when they're not expecting anyone. (Why should they? Confused It's very likely to be a charity begging for money/a chugger, a conman, a religious caller, a salesmen trying to bully you into buying something you don't want, Hello Fresh trying to get you to sign up to their crappy service, or a delivery man wanting you to take in someone's parcel!)

Threads that try to peddle anything over 8 stone, and a size 8, as 'rather fat.'

I get annoyed by a lot of things. 😆

Loving this thread, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
For Starters:

  1. Use of the word gotten (Aaaaargh). Please. Stop.
  2. Parking threads with no diagram from the start.
  3. Lack of punctuation.

Spookily, I wore wide legs jeans on a long haul flight recently. It was unexpectedly great. They are loose fitting and high waisted.

Please tell me what AMA means.

And. Unnecessary. Punctuation.

Cascadia · Today 17:21

The class ones are the best though never get rid of those. I particularly enjoy people earnestly proclaiming that properly posh people don't care where you keep your fruit bowl or what you call your evening meal and simply get along with everyone. As someone who has extensive experience with the aristocracy I can promise you this is utter shit.

luckylavender · Today 17:21

I’m flying long haul to Hong Kong this week and it will be Levi 501s

EleanorMc67 · Today 17:22

Nincompoo · Today 17:02

Apart from sobbing around the house and long haul flights, yes.

Wide-leg trousers are much better for both ... & if they're silk satin, it makes sobbing around the house that bit more bearable, I find ... 😁

I have been here since Brian from Hull and his massage offer but I don't think I have ever seen any threads about trousers on flights.

I would ban:
Faux naive wind up posts
Self absorbed AMAs
Anyone who finishes their OP with "Discuss" .
Fake OPs that span 3 plus threads complete with poets corner
Thread police and the same with S&G. I'm dyslexic and spell check can only do so much. Shaming me for misspelling won't make me any better at it.
Blatantly money begging posts. They are as obvious as they used to be, but they still crop up occasionally.
Name the MNetter who you lurve the most clique threads.

FancyPantsThatArentThatFancy · Today 17:24

Child lunch box threads…no matter what the op has said is in the box, it could range from a bag of dust to fillet steak and lobster tails there will be a million posts telling the op how shit it is, not enough/too much protein/fat/fruit/sugar/upfs.

These are the worst. The little recaps make me cringe myself inside out. Oh god sometimes they have little nicknames for each other.

Pinadaqx2 · Today 17:26

People point grammar out. Speaks more about them then the actual spelling mistake.

SAHM vs Working parent always turns into a bun fight. Pointless all round.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Today 17:26

FancyPantsThatArentThatFancy · Today 16:54

There was one of them just last week, pathetic.

Let me use my psychic powers of deduction and guess...that everyone was competing over who loved AnyFucker the most?

Lozlegs · Today 17:27

The far too frequent posts where a mum states she's "worried she's going to lose her kids cos of partner issues and ss involvement, then lists the characteristics of a serial killer and wonders why?! FFS take some responsibility and stop making crap decisions re who you let stay or come into your kids lives. YES they'll be removed if YOU put them at risk....

iCod · Today 17:28

People wanting a dress to be fucking styled -they are the worst, worse than terrorists

Every AMA thread.

I first thought that AMA meant "Against Medical Advice". Then, I finally figured it out. (Ask Me Anything).

Color my face red!

Threads where the word naice is used.

As the person who invented that, on this board anyway, with regard to ham,I feel rather tender towards it

OP posts:
HoppityBun · Today 17:29

WokeUpEarlyWalkedTheDog · Today 16:15

Any where the OP or subsequent posters use ‘bring’ instead of ‘take’.

Exhibit A: ‘Should I bring my husband with me when I go to the hospital?’ TAKE! Should I TAKE my husband.

Exhibit B: ‘My husband is refusing to bring me to the hospital’. TAKE!! He’s refusing to TAKE YOU.

Exhibit C: ‘You should get your husband to bring you to the hospital’. TAKE!!! He should TAKE YOU to an event in the FUTURE.

Oh. That feels good. Thanks OP for bringing this up 😉

Where I’m from, “to bring with” is fine. So no objections to A.

iCod · Today 17:29

Oh fuck the head girl posts, everyone knows that was me

😁

OP posts:
Terfedout · Today 17:30

OsfameronTanamoril · Today 17:08

The ones where the OP says "AIBU to not want any friends because all women are bitchy and nasty? My husband is my best friend."

Yes. These ones are totally pathetic 🤣

Dandeloosha · Today 17:30

The Sex threads where some poor innocent asks how to give a blowie and gets 300 replies from creepy men telling her detailed made up stories of how his wife sucks him like a Twister for 4 hours while he does unspeakable things to her with a three pronged dildo in a camper van in a field on the Isle of Wight with all the locals looking at them through the windows.

Non-AIBU questions in AIBU.

Yes. Particularly political bots pushing their agenda on contentious issues.

I wish they'd be moderated into a news category so I could avoid them [muted].

Asking for a friend in Hull.

ShutupLwren · Today 17:31

AMA where the poster doesn’t answer the questions.
But I do love it when someone more wealthy/qualified comes along and answers the questions.

My recent favourite threads are the posters who are angry with any form of consumerism and the OP desperately has to justify themselves for once popping into the range and picking up a lamp.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Today 17:33

Oh and the first post fucking Mensa candidates who can't even read the OP.

OP: My DH wants to let our kids, age 6 & 3 walk themselves to school and nursery every morning. AIBU to say no?

First poster: How old are your kids?

🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
