If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

OP posts:

Wait wouldn’t you bring him with you if you were already going (so bring him with you in your first example), and take him is he needs to go and is the only reason you’re going?!

I think the problem here though is that ‘take’ is what we would use in the UK and ‘bring’ is an Americanisation.

I’m now splitting my sides. Just pottering in the kitchen cooking our dinner and poured myself a glass of wine. Unfortunately I took a mouthful before getting to this bit of the OP:

When my friend, Becky, had a traumatic birth I suggested Brian give her a yoni massage. Not only did she find it a very spiritual and pleasurable experience, she has been able to stop dwelling on the birth and is no longer feeling any pain in her yoni. Becky's happy ending has given Brian the confidence to offer his services further afield

I just bet it has !! Thankfully MN’s bullshit detectors realised that Brian was looking for a happy ending of his own !!

Edited

😂😂😂.
This bit made me howl "Please be assured that Brian is a very caring man whose only concern is the health and happiness of yoni's".

Lucky, lucky women of MN and their yonis to have Brian taking such a concerned interest in them 😱.

AIBU where no one in the world would think that the poster is BU.

"I was walking in the street and someone called me an asshole. Was I unreasonable to not apologise to them and give them all my shopping for free? "

I exaggerate but...

Rosscameasdoody · Yesterday 18:27

The ‘my child’s’ school/Tesco/our local council has banned the word ‘Christmas’ threads. Won’t be long now !!

Ones about finances tbh! Because they just show how deeply divided people are in terms of income and opportunity.

Pliudev · Yesterday 18:31

I'm not keen on the ones about hen parties that are going to cost more than a month's mortgage, mean taking days off work and the OP can't afford it and will be 8 months pregnant, so what should she do?
Of course it could be because I've never been invited to a hen party.

No need to brag! 🤣

And another one! Sorry this has really set me off!

The ‘Does anyone else have this bug?’ threads where the symptoms are just generic bug ones like a sore throat and people are like ‘Yes me!’ when they are probably opposite ends (or a totally different) country.

Okay blood pressure is rising, I need to stop posting.

There was someone getting everyone alarmed because their Walk In Centre was busy and it clearly indicated the NHS on the brink of collapse.

CruCru · Yesterday 18:35

Threads that are full of AI. This site will become unreadable if it ends up being filled with that crap.

Threads where posters use therapy speak. Stuff like toxic or narcissistic - quite difficult to diagnose but somehow they can do it online. Plus there’s often a cruelty underlying it. Saying “She is toxic and I am taking some space for my own wellbeing” is much more unkind than “She is doing my head in so I’m not going to see her for a bit”.

I read a thread yesterday which made me feel sick, about 'what petty things have you done to get back at someone..'. Most replies weren't petty humorous things, they were gross awful things. That weren't funny in their pettiness, but were grim and a bit sad. So I don't like those sort of self congratulatory (for no apparent reason) threads.

It’s the same 4 or 5 names every time

AnyFucker of course
Maryz
Bluntness (add any number ending in zero)
WorraLiberty
BertrandRussell

Then one of them will appear on the thread all faux bashful and simpery. It’s pathetic.

Yep!

MyThreeWords · Yesterday 18:38

I think I'd ban Pedant's Corner threads in which posters go into an almighty smugfest over grammatical errors or harmless little word misunderstandings - like it makes them Proust or something to care so much about it.

CandidHedgehog · Yesterday 18:38

Threads where the OP doesn’t get the wholesale support she expected so gets the thread withdrawn ‘for privacy reasons’. She doesn’t care about the privacy of her family member when trashing him/her all over Mumsnet but somehow when people start pointing out the family member may have a good point, ‘privacy’ is suddenly vital.

If it makes you feel any better, a good proportion of those will be completely fictitious.

TheLastSilverSaint · Yesterday 18:39

Any threads about whether it’s OK to wear pyjamas for relaxing at home during the day. JUST DO WHAT YOU FUCKING WANT. We don’t need another 600-post argument with one set of people saying it’s ‘grim’ and ‘depressing’ and a sign of mental and possibly societal decline and another set of people saying it’s disgusting to wear ‘outside’ clothes in the house and implying that anyone capable of watching telly in jeans must be some kind of depraved masochist.

I would also ban threads from people asking where they can buy the most generic and readily available items imaginable. “I need a pair of white trainers. Has anyone seen any?” or “Where are you all buying your socks these days? DH needs some but I don’t know where to start.”

While I’m on a roll, can we also have a veto on “AIBU to not understand how people can afford cars/holidays/days out?” threads? The correct answer is “It’s because they’ve got more spare money than you” and it will still be the answer even after 500 people have debated it.

Some of those were just nasty, some absolutely disgusting. Horrible thread

If you fish for compliments you'll only get a boot, as the saying goes.
Some of the albeit brutal replies can make me laugh though. "302 years old and not a day over" kind of thing.
