AIBU to think that scooters and bicycles on pavements is out of control and it’s time there were laws to protects pedestrians

I didn't say that, just sharing my experience. Perhaps you should consider sharing your manners?

No, don’t think so.

I know I’m right.

you could say exactly the same for drivers, except its 20x the money spent on cycling and yet drivers still act like dicks
No, because cycle lanes are hardly used. So disproportionate is the right word.

How much is hardly used? 1000 times weekly, 4000 x weekly 6000 x weekly?

Id not be thinking 4000 times weekly was hardly used

I do say "excuse me". But the fact they can often see me coming and continue walking without shuffling to one side honestly does my head in.

I never say excuse me, I always ask” would it be ok to pass” “is it ok to pass” it’s gives the pedestrian control, & instruction of what you want to do and I’ve only ever had someone say No once

@RikthePoet

And if the pedestrians are walking two or three abreast then they should allow you to get past.

Some ignorant/oblivious pedestrians don't even go into single file to let other pedestrians pass them. Rambling groups are the worst on our canal tow path - happy to just carry on 2 or 3 abreast and expecting people coming the other way to leap into the canal or the shrubs.

Cyclists on roads are also often two abreast making it harder to pass. Cars should wait patiently (without beeping) until they reach a safe place to pass. When you’re the faster one on a shared use space (ie car on a road or cyclist on a pavement) you’ve just got to accept sometimes you’ll get held up by slower people.

I really don’t understand how cyclists who are very vulnerable on roads and all have stories of dickhead car drivers can’t see that they’re the ones who need to give way, slow down and wait for the more vulnerable pedestrians.
