AIBU to see these messages as more than work banter?

I’ve changed my username because some posts I’ve made previously are possibly identifying.

I have discovered messages between my DP and a work colleague. On the 2nd night of 4 nights away in the UK.

I thought he was acting strange yesterday and being odd with his phone. I looked at it when he fell asleep last night (we are in a lodge and he left it on charge in another room) and took photos of as many messages as possible.

I confronted him today and at my request he left where we are staying by himself. He has tried to call me loads and sent me multiple long messages apologising and saying it meant nothing and was stupid work banter which would never go anywhere.

I just don’t know how I can see past the messages. It’s really rude stuff. The colleague is clearly abroad currently and sent him a photo of her at a pool wearing high wedges and swimwear pulled up her arse. DP said he wishes he was there and she asked what would he do if he was. He just casually replies ‘I’d have to eat that arse first’. She says she’s on the cocktails so would let him do anything.

I scrolled back further and they are talking about a work night out which DP couldn’t make but she was on. She was saying she was bored and her and another colleague were rating their top 5 colleagues. DP said he best be first. She said yeah and which of the two would he want to go with first. He replied saying ‘simple problem to solve, her (other colleague) on my face and you riding me’.

They are probably the worst examples. I don’t class that as banter though?!!! It’s full on flirting. There is nothing in there to suggest anything physical.

God that's horrendous. It's not banter, it's sexting

Exactly - this is WAY beyond flirting. It's seriously sexual and shows total disrespect and disregard for you. He will clearly cheat given ghe opportunity, he has shown he is already disloyal.

Bigtrapeze · Today 09:57

So sorry OP. This is horrible. I'd let her have him, if I were you. Best revenge you could have. This is sexting not banter, and would be cheating if I was involved in it. Grim. Who does this?

Ilovelurchers · Today 09:57

A lot of people will tell you to leave him at this point as if it's an easy and uncomplicated thing to do.

Actually, leaving a partner is huge.

You have every right to if you want to, you can leave over anything.

But it's your choice ultimately.

I do agree this is way beyond banter, and I would assume they were either having sex already, or maybe hoping to. But I don't know them so I can't say for sure.

Look after yourself - you have had a nasty shock. X

BCBird · Today 10:08

That is infidelity

BCBird · Today 10:10

Prioritise you and ur well being

Tinkalinkalink · Today 10:13

Im so sorry op

Just gross

Sunsara · Today 10:18

I’d leave my husband and father of my children over this. This is actually vile and not banter in any shape or form. A) he’s a totally disgusting individual and you’re lucky to have found out now. B) he’s going to/has cheated on you. C) he doesn’t love you anyway. Loads of reasons you’re well out of the relationship. Run.

1983Louise · Today 10:23

I know it's an old saying on here but I bet he wouldn't have said that to Nigel from accounts department. That's really horrible plus he seems to think a lot of himself, you deserve better x

ChocolateBiscuitsandaCuppa · Today 10:25

Would he be okay if a male colleague sent that to you, in response to you sending him a photo of your butt? Of course not.

Him saying it's just 'banter' is him downplaying something he knows is unacceptable.

PeasOff · Today 10:32

This is not just banter at all. It's crude, vile and massively disrespectful towards you.

If nothing has happened between them already it sounds like it was lining up to go that way.

I'm sorry he's such a pig, you didn't deserve that and no amount of apologies will make you trust their 'working' relationship going forward.

elm26 · Today 10:35

Vile, it’s cheating in my eyes. You deserve a good person not one who treats you like this. His loss!

pictoosh · Today 10:39

I couldn't look at him the same way ever again. The trust has been obliterated in any case.
I'd tell him to go eat that ass.

Fuck sake.

Quitelikeit · Today 10:41

I don’t think I could come back from this op

Lucyintheskywithnoidea · Today 10:42

Where does he work that he can lie and that its banter?

Get tested for STIs op, even if he’s not slept with this one yet, I doubt this is the first time he’s engaged in ‘banter’.

Do you live together? Have dc?

RageBates · Today 10:43

Screamingabdabz · Today 09:49

At this point, if this were me, I wouldn’t even want some mindless dick who slathers over anything in a bikini and texts other women like that. Any feelings toward him would disappear like the closing of a steel trap for the sake of my own integrity.

Let him go, don’t look back. You deserve better.

This.

That level of crude desperation would have me drier than the Sahara desert!!

It's properly explicit and gross.
The only time that would be okay, would be if OP was involved/the subject and they were talking about a consensual threesome.

But him describing this level of smut with a mere colleague is so disrespectful and vile.

OP I'd be curious to know what the ladies response was to that message too...? Did you read on?

Leaving is hard. Staying in a relationship where your ‘partner’ is engaging in sexual conversations, lying about it, gaslighting and being disrespectful to you is harder. HTH.

MadeForThis · Today 10:47

It would change how I thought of him as a person. Worse than the ick.

ChaToilLeam · Today 10:50

He wouldn't be saying that to a male colleague, the lying pig.
