I've tried over and over again to hint that he stops........it drives me fucking mental and I hate eating with him when he does it. He didn't do it when we met....took a while before he does it to this extent but ow does it every dinner time.

I've even been sneaky in trying to get himto stop it but he always finds a way. AIBU to demand he no longer does it in my presence?

Eating habits are the on thing of DP's that really annoy me.
He eats way too fast, scrapes his fork on his teeth, has his knife and fork in the wrong hand and basically eats like a sloth.
YANBU at all, and I don't even know what the problem is!

themildmannneredjanitor · 30/06/2008 18:18

we don't know unless you tell us

forevercleaning · 30/06/2008 18:18

she' has obviously gone and thwacked him over the head with a saucepan and solved the problem herself!!

bubblagirl · 30/06/2008 18:20

thats not grunts as in fart just weird noises when he opens mouth to devour food bit piggy sounding

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 18:20

i annoy myself when i eat as I have a clicky jaw.

Dh, on the other hand, is fine!

VictorianSqualor · 30/06/2008 18:21

I like to soak gravy up with bread.
My Dad used to get my mum to bake him bread, so it was the size of a dinner plate, and he'd eat his dinner off it then eat the bread last.
Apparently.

Nagapie · 30/06/2008 18:21

Men are not good at sneaky - why not be upfront with him about it??

My experience is that if it isn't unhygienic and he does it front of his mum you have little chance of changing it

fallingdown · 30/06/2008 18:23

close bubblagirl

no matter what meal we are having he has several slices of bread and butter with it. I may just be able to cope with that but he starts putting his meal into the bread and eating it as a sandwich FFS............hate it hate it hate it.

Spaghetti Bolognaise, Cottage Pie, Jacket Potato, Sunday Roast, Curry.........all into the bread . He wouldn't dream of doing it when out and about and he looks at me like I'm the loon when I make a comment.

ooh.... i dont think you abu!! i dont mind things made into a snadwich sometimes, fish and chips + chip butties, Sausage and mash + sausage butty.... but spag bol? roast? JACKET POTATO?...... no way!!!!

fallingdown · 30/06/2008 18:26

ahh nag pie - I totally blame his mother. The only other house he does it in to my knowledge.

I hid the bread one time and said we had none and he defrosted a couple of DD's rolls I keep in freezer for her lunchbox.

Honestly, cannot bear it any longer....makes my teeth itch.

Keep all the bread in the freezer? Stop buying it? Give him bread rolls with meals instead? Refuse to eat with him / cook for him any more? Stab him with the butter knife?

glaskham · 30/06/2008 18:29

buy things like pitta breads, and wraps instead of bread....???

Charmander · 30/06/2008 18:29

Just give him sandwiches for every meal.

fallingdown · 30/06/2008 18:30

tonight I gave him bread and butter only. Then I felt a but guilty as he was genuinely perplexed by it.

I can go so far as doing him chips to go with his lasagne (whats that all about???)...but now the bread and butter is creeping in I realise that I cannot spend the next 50 years watching him do that.

not to mention the price of a loaf anyway.
