To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

Then why make such a meal of asking? Odd behaviour for someone who doesn’t give a fuck.

I’m GC but not about toilets. I don’t worry about who else is in there, I just wait my turn to get into one. Changing rooms would be more uncomfortable, but as yet it isn’t something I’ve had to deal with.

It’s a completely different matter with hospital wards, women’s refuges and women’s prisons, where there are vulnerable women who need safe spaces. Of on a Rape Crisis helpline; I remember when I called them and I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to have a male voice answer the phone.

Mostly, though, I’m not a single issue person and there are a lot of other issues that are of more immediate concern for me.

More than anything else, I wouldn’t trust the likes of Trump and the American Right to speak for me. Or Nigel Farage. They really don’t care about women.

Is asking you what you describe yourself to be (but can’t explain) ‘a meal’? It was just a short sentence. I was expecting a short answer but this has turned quite mealy in itself. Sigh.

Women have been hounded out of jobs, political parties and friendship groups and have received death and rapethreats for not believing transwomen are women. I'm be happy to co-exist as long as I'm not expected to proclaim a blatant lie (because that is what it is) that men can become women or women can become men.
