To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

She saw everyone as human. Whereas on this thread we have had innocent trans women called paedophiles and sex offenders.

In fairness, I don't think anyone said they were paedophiles.

They compared trans people to paedophiles, which is not the same, and much better.

Exactly - she just saw people and accepted them regardless of who they were. She didn’t care if they were trans - or as mentioned in the article quoted had a history of drugs or alcohol.
And she did a whole lot of good in the world

The more stuff I read about toilets, the more angry I get that the abusive cis men who have made women terrified of being in the vicinity of a penis get ignored while the terfs yell at the transwomen and the transwomen yell at the terfs.

I always think that the men who are GCs are as dodgy as fook. Convenient scapegoats in trans women. What I don't get is that the GCs fall for it and embrace them!

Because it lets them off the accusation that they hate and fear all men. They can point at them and say look, I'm not a misandrist, I follow this guy on X and agree with everything he says! Misogynist man gets to be a white knight defending the helpless women and the women get to pretend that selected men are safe. Win win.

Yup, while some men have the best interests of women at heart, for many others their responses on sm are more indicative of their negative attitudes towards trans people generally. A lot of people feed into the drama and echo other people without actually knowing very much or having personal experience.
While the focus is on trans people who make up just 0.5 -1% of the population it’s off the men who are more of a risk in homes etc.
Trans people have been around since forever, however since they’ve been brought more to the forefront by transphobes it’s becoming the case that some people would prefer they do not exist at all.

But this thread is about Dolly and her acceptance of everyone no matter who they are which is a great viewpoint to have.

If you strip it down to the basics, it’s very straightforward. Either you think women should have the right to single sex spaces of their own or you don’t.

But “transwomen” are men. Therefore it’s just one group of men yelling at women whilst another group look on isn’t it? No woman can be a “transwoman” so they must have been men before they decided to become “transwomen” no?

But aren’t TRA claiming that men with a trans identity (what you refer to as “transwomen”) are safe and should be let in female spaces? Those who support trans ideology claim that a man is safe as soon as he says he is a woman. What makes a man with a trans identity safer than one without a trans identity? Both are men. Both have a penis. Both pose the same risk to women. Why should one be allowed in female spaces and one not?

So break it down for me. What is the difference between a man and a “transwoman”?
