To tell you that Jehovahs Witnesses have a list of people not to call on again?

The Jehovahs Witnesses come to my house every 6 weeks or so. It's annoying for various reasons but lets just say I work nights and am sometimes asleep in the day. The last time they came I told them not to come back and was told I'd be put on a list, like I've been naughty or something.

They've been deviating from their usual pattern of Saturday morning recently and they've come back today, they bypassed my house!! There really is a List! So if you don't want to be disturbed then ask to go on the list 😁

They’re a cult. There’s nothing lovely about them!

What would you say?

I can’t imagine telling someone to get out of my house quickly and never return, simply because they admitted they didn’t know the answer to a tricky question and would have to check it and get back to me. Should they have made up some BS on the spot instead?

They have only been to our house once. I told them that we were regulars at the local C of E parish church, which is true. Now, they just walk past.

You can say whatever you like about any religion, despise away.

But what you're doing is saying that a particular group of people are an infestation, that's not fine, it's called hate speech.

They keep notes on all sorts of things about the people they interact with.

From my understanding if you do swear and slam the door they actually feel more 'right' becuse they're being persicuted.

I was in a relation ship with someone whose father had become a JW. In the summer they would hire a coach, take a packed lunch and head for the more remote addresses on farms to 'witness'.

I've been on the DNC for decades, they do occasionally slip up and knock but appologise when I mention the DNC list.

So you wouldn't say a place is with infested with people from x religion.

Why would the world be a better place without contemporary pagan religions? Contemporary pagans aren't infringing on other people's rights or holding societies back.

Try politely challenging their views and see how warm the welcome remains.

Wear this, think this, behave like this, do this, don't do that. F off the lot of them.

I genuinely think it should be made illegal to cold call on people in the name of religion!

I know someone who was converted to JW when she had a still birth. Obviously she was drowning in horrific grief. This was a long time ago. I don’t know how the JW knew about it, but they said if she converted, she would have a live birth. So she converted and had a live birth. Absolutely predatory IMO. She now has door knocking as her highest priority in life. Higher than her grandchildren, higher than one of her adult children who has a very serious and progressive disability/illness - that person is a lone parent and their child is their carer whilst my relative prioritises door knocking. She could be helping her own family to literally survive, but no, this cult is her priority. Since her and her DH are very high up now in JW circles (decades later) her DH is unchallengeable and has spent decades beating her up. Grim grim grim.

There are some areas, one near me (sadly doesn’t include my road) where cold calling is not allowed. I think there are lots of elderly people there.

That is so bloody depressing. These cults are awful and all the posters on here claiming the handwritten letters are lovely and sweet are a MASSIVE part of the problem.

These are the times being a goth really pays off. Most of the time they get halfway down the path, clock the bat door knocker, the Go Away letter box and the pentagram door mat and turn around. They visit my street every few months. One time I did answer and told them I was a witch.

I tell them I had multiple blood transfusions at birth, and that I wouldn’t be here without that, which is true. They leave after that and don’t come back.

I just tell them I have my priest. Haven’t had a visit since I told them that so presumably I’m on the list !!

Both my parents have had blood transfusions as well. JW would have let them die.

People need to realise the reality of what JW actually means, not just think oh what a nice person, what a nice letter.

Absolutely. A friend of mine is an ex-JW. The mental scars will never leave her.

The next time they come, tell them it’s your birthday, so, would they like to join you for tea and birthday cake.

They will shoot off so fast!

Shouting at them also stops them coming back. A few years ago, I was really stressed dealing with DC and the dog had been sick and I was in the middle of sorting it when the door goes. I wrangle a toddler and a sick dog and get to the door to see the JW and I got overwhelmed with rage. That they dare to walk up my driveway onto my property just to spout their religious nonsense. And I told them so! Haven’t seen them since! 😁

Why don’t you just tell us what your issue is. I am fairly sure I know exactly what it is. You have been told that people will say it about individual religions and all religions yet you are not letting it go.

My friend married a non JW and is now cast out and ignored, even by her own mother. That tells me all I need to know about them.
