Rise of far right

Sillyme1 · Today 07:00

Any one else worried about the rise of the far right in Europe. Churchill once said ‘those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it’. Obviously social conditions are different from the 1930s, but there are similarities such as using immigrants as scapegoats (not Jews this time). Things can so easily escalate and I admit to being worried

Do they show what happened before the alleged assault. What lead up to this alleged assault? Did she hit the disabled pensioner when she was trying to unroll her banner. That would put a different context on it all
We don't know.
If there is all this footage why hasn't the supposed 'victim' come forward when asked by the Police?
If this was genuine she could have a field day. She could sue for assault, sue the security team for injuries, sue Reform for employing an incompetent security team who injured her, sue the people who assaulted her in a private prosecution (that could be paid for by the organisation she is a member of) the list goes on.
But all we have is radio silence.
I wonder why ?

you don't think reform would be shouting it from the rooftops if they anything to suggest what you've constructed in your mind excusing/ justifying this appaling attack? shame on you to a) suggest that that happened, and b) suggest that anything would warrent such a response.

Huh? He said school shootings were a price to pay for bearing arms and the right to automatic weapons without checks …he said large numbers of children could be murdered with firearms and it was an acceptable price to pay…it was this that was raised in relation to his death …his view that there are acceptable numbers of victim for the right to bear arms..he was one of his self stated acceptable victims…that’s not celebration that’s deep deep sorrow

Not this inaccurate rhetoric again. If you didn't take the time to listen to him debate in context, maybe you're not best placed to criticise him.

YABVU. And what is described as the “far right” now was centralist not that long ago.

It's the other way round, surely? Moderates are feeling empowered to acknowledge the problems being created by irregular migration, for example. When ever did Labour, the Lib Dems or the Conservatives talk about remigration or bsnning the burka?

Jollygreygiantess · Today 16:28

Livelovebehappy · Today 16:23

And why is it that this sort of thing is a lot more common from the left? They’re so full of hatred and bitterness. It really does speak volumes about these people, that they celebrate the death of someone who holds different views, but so predictable.

Agreed.

That's going do well isn't it, especially in the schools near me that have 90 percent foreign speaking children at 4 years old. Tell 4 year olds in 200 languages that Britain is a democracy and everything will be fine.

90% of children who will be bilingual (if they're not already) by the time they're 6 years old. That's a brilliant cause for celebration. Kids in my daughter's class speak about 10 languages between themselves and it's one of the top performing state primary in England.

Why are we afraid of multi lingual children? Won’t that accelerate our ability to do business with the world?

Lemonraider · Today 16:29

And what is 'normal human nature' then? Pray define what you think should happen with children born of mixed marriages.

They are a "British" as every single human on the planet aren't they?

Oh right. They are all here as global trade partners are they?

MaggiesShadow · Today 16:31

I am worried about it, too.

The problem is evil bastards like Churchill exist everywhere, all the time. And we have never and will never learn from history.

Powerful men will continue to cause problems and we'll all continue to pay the price. Right now it's immigration, before that it was covid conspiracies, and on and on and on.

People are disenfranchised and angry and will look for someone to blame. It's human nature.

Makes some people feel insecure.
I acquired the (hard-earned) skill to speak 3 languages. I wish it hadn't been that painful and envy kids who grow up that way! But, somewhat absurdly I've been on the receiving end of hostility while conducting conversations in a foreign language- maybe it was PP, who knows! It's not a skill that's nearly as valued as it should be in this country.

I have no idea what Reform would do.
I expect that they would be professional and let due process take it's course.
And stop attacking me because I have a different opinion to you and choose to give a different viewpoint that doesn't fit your narrative.

Wondering what these far more left ideologies are? I would say that, despite a current Labour govt, political rhetoric has shifted significantly to the right overall with even Keir Starmer having used language that demonised migrants. And anyone remember Suella Braverman talking about an invasion on the south coast?

I wonder why people choose to vilify migrants rather than hold successive governments to account for their wrongs. For me, that means in recent times, the PPE scandal and Partygate which showed absolute contempt for the British people by the government of the day.

The cultural left increasingly shifted from individual equality towards group-based equity with greater emphasis on race, gender, sexuality and identity. So ideas such as “intersectionality, systemic oppression, privilege, decolonization” and DEI has become more influential across universities, media, corporations and public institutions. Speech and disagreement are increasingly framed through concepts of harm, safety and inclusion rather than solely through traditional free-expression principles. Political and social issues are now often interpreted through group power, representation and historical disadvantage rather than individual circumstances alone. Successive governments since around 2010 have increasingly of this belief and Starmer became almost the poster child of oppression/supression.

No-one who says enough to migration is vilifying migrants. But it is perfectly ok to say that there is a limit to migration (legal) and that the state should take action to completely shut down illegal migration, which it has not done. The men on boats are not a hallowed holy class and even by the Home Office’s own admission, not asylum seekers.

I get you a bit. Face coverings can of course be unsettling but context matters. They weren't marauding, they were not looting JD sports, they were not setting fire to buildings as we've seen in so many 'peaceful protests'.
Their actions were absolutely non threatening.

They were all wearing black. Come on.

You haven't got a clue what I "offer".

The entire planet has a right to be here by the standards you espouse because the only thing that matters is individual choice.

You have made your "offer" abundantly clear through your posts on this thread, and I don't like it.

As a British- born person with two British-born parents, I really don't like having people like you living in this country. You don't subscribe to my values and I feel that your conduct risks causing significant distress to many British citizens. You have already upset me today. Can I ask someone to deport you?

Of course I can't, because you have a right to be here. And so does my dd, as a British citizen. Exactly the same right.

Who the fuck are you to tell her that she isn't welcome here?

Partygate and PPE? People have moved on to current issues. Even Starmer has been in and out as leader since then.
