Rise of far right

Sillyme1 · Today 07:00

Any one else worried about the rise of the far right in Europe. Churchill once said ‘those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it’. Obviously social conditions are different from the 1930s, but there are similarities such as using immigrants as scapegoats (not Jews this time). Things can so easily escalate and I admit to being worried

You mention race a lot in your post. Why do you keep mentioning the melanin levels of your neighbours? Why does it matter?

She hasn't mentioned melanin. Skin colour as method of ethnicity counting in Britain was introduced by immigrants for immigrants. Every single public sector organisation in Britain has mandatory ethnicity/skin colour reporting and monitoring. We have been forced to declare our skin colour for decades now in most interactions with employers and public services

They "keep mentioning" it. Do you ever ask them "Why does it matter?"

There are problems but you are exaggerating for your own purposes. Not all foreigners are bad people. It just needs to be controlled better.

What purposes? What do I have to gain?

Expanding on this is pointless here as people on these forums are incapable of actually looking at things properly.

Ricky Gervais is a rich liberal, but even he takes major issue with this problem.

I suggest that those who care look up the relevant data, such as fiscal statistics and see that this path we are going down is (once the newcomers have learnt that their sexual urges don’t entitle them to grab people off the streets) that the cultures we are importing are not going to contribute to the countries finances, but will be a drain.

The stats are available, and we are not an oil rich country who wants to be benevolent to those in need. If you come here, you must earn your keep. Pay taxes, put in more than you take out.

People have to prove all sorts to bring their legal spouse over to ensure we are not inheriting burdens, but people who come over here illegally can bring 17 family members to be forever subsidised by the state. It’s utter madness.

I'm worried, but I'm equally worried by what it is a symptom of. People feeling that their lives have taken a turn for the worse, that they're not listening to, that they don't matter, that they're working harder and getting poorer, and none of the promises of how the digital revolution would change all our lives for the better has been kept. I am worried by the way politicians on the make and other elites exploit the anger and distress of the masses and use it like a weapon to turn on their preferred targets (anyone but themselves)

I'd have felt safe. We can't all drop everything and dash to Dover can we?

Your sneery comments about 'daytime posters' not having friends jobs or hobbies seem to miss the the fact that you too are a 'daytime poster' Grin

So, speak for yourself, sorry if you're friendless but the rest of us will have full active flexible schedules.

I thought the amusing part was about us all eagerly waiting for the left leaning posters to clock on after work. How do we manage in their absence?

The whole point of my thread is the people in my community (and others) is changing quite dramatically. A big noticable increase in single black men talking loudly in a foreign language.

Of course you already knew that but were trying to be a smart ass.

Loud single black men.

Just when you thought it couldn't sink any lower, it suddenly does.

Even if the police did release such data there's no chance the right would believe it. Their minds were made up long ago and no amount of evidence to the contrary will change it.

For example, Henry Fudge did a deep dive into the data and found that, once you normalise for age, sex and socio-economic factors, the arrest and conviction rates for asylum seekers is no higher than for Brits.

Hell, you still regularly get posters on here citing the centre for migration control, even though it was proven they'd deliberately falsified the data in their reports.

Excuse me...

normalise for socio-economic factors??! We're talking about rape and sexual assaults. I don't give a flying f* about someone's socio-economic status, it's irrelevant.

Im a life time Labour voter , white British 60, well off, lived in very mixed areas of London all my adult life. Im so annoyed with the last Tory government for not addressing immigration in any meaningful way and Im especially annoyed with the current Labour government for its ineffective stance. From a cabinet stuffed full of people with Oxbridge History degrees. This government and the last one have handed this issue to the right. Currently the UK voters rank immigration as the single most important issue. This may well translate into a massive vote for Reform and even Restore at the next General Election.
I dont understand why people educated in modern history are so scared to engage with the people of this country on this issue. Its not as if governments havent done so in the past, even Labour governments have.
And its not racist to engage with the single issue voters rank as the most important. Honestly I wonder about the people in charge of this country. And the critical thinking skills of people labelling the majority of voters as racist. How does that help in any way?

EasternStandard · Today 11:54

I’m not proving anything for you. I really don’t see the point in engaging with anyone who goes on about shifts, bots, right wingers etc. as they’re clearly only looking for one view, BlueSky is probably better.

I want to read more than just the left’s take, so happy for people to keep posting.

How am I looking for one view when I’ve regularly asked for other people’s views?

Almost every post I’ve written I’ve said how important it is to discuss this topic.

I have literally asked you your view about why you didn’t attend the protests at least 3 times but you refuse to answer.

You only want to speak but not listen.

Nothing will ever change with an attitude like that.

A wise man’s mind can be changed.
A fools mind cannot.
One listens and tries to understand, the other doesn’t.

Britain can be racist and still have people moving here. Loads of people moved to the USA during its Jim Crow years.

Really? You mean there were hundreds of thousands of Black people risking life and limb and paying huge sums of money to get into the USA during that time? I did not know about that.

Gloriia · Today 12:00

I don’t want the boats coming anymore, basically all of the uk doesn’t hence reform getting so many supporters. That doesn’t make us far right, or racist.

Yep but oh we're <checks notes> 'sahp, disabled, no friends or hobbies' etc etc right wingers during the day lefties come out later a rather odd pp has suggested.

We don't want unvetted, undocumented men entering the country illegally in their hundreds!! It is clearly not 'right wing' to state this.

CouldICopeWithAnotherPuppy · Today 12:00

My mom said the goverment are being paid to take the illegal immigrants, didn’t believe her but thinking about it, I wouldn’t be suprised if that is the case.

I actually have began to ponder is our govt is being blackmailed somehow into taking them.

Obviously your mum is trying to do the same ie figure out why on earth any govt would allow violent, unskilled people into an already overpopulated, failing country.

Or are they just stupid, soft and / or don't care. It is bewildering.

Stairlifter · Today 12:01

Goatsarebest · Today 11:44

This post sums it up for me. The original post was expressing genuine concerns about how she and others felt because of the change on the demographs of her community. Maybe not how all of us would express it, but they are her words. The context was set about the poster being a law abiding middle aged educated women who worked and participated in her community all her life but is now drawn to a position she never had before. A brave post in the context of the current debate. These are very pertinent facts for this debate, which is why the 'far right' is gaining support.

But the response is to highlight how many times she said Black and Brown, imply she is a racist and tell her how to express herself. Wrapped up with a bit of virtue signalling and patting on the head from the responder.
No attempt to try and understand her position or even give to rationale debate. Just labelling. Polite labelling, I'll give them that.
Then the 'spreading fear' bit.
Maybe, just maybe, there is genuine fear in some communities and it doesn't need 'spreading'.
This wasn't a rabid ideological response, but it shows the embedded nature of where we are right now. You are wrong if you don't agree with me.d
Entrenched and divisive positions are far more dangerous to our society than an election in Germany.

She fantasised about telling black people to fuck off.

Laurmolonlabe · Today 12:04

Yes, but the comparison is not the same

there is and never had been any problems caused by Jewish people. I think there is a legitimate conversation to have about immigration, and successive governments’ complete inability to assess those issues or even permit conversation about it has given oxygen to right wing parties.

Britain is a very centrist and tolerant country but also has a strong sense of fairness. The state of the Uk at the moment doesn’t feel fair. 2 years ago the population voted to get rid of the conservatives because they were failing. They didnt actually swing to the left and choose Labour, it was just a rejection of the failing party in power.

the situation is recoverable but will take some tough choices. Labour have shown they’re not prepared to do that - the mildest of welfare reform was utterly rejected by the party.

I think it is naive to think there were never problems caused by Jewish people, pressure on space and employment are the same no matter what the religion of incommers,I live near Whitechapel which used to be a very predominantly Jewish neighbourhood, there is plenty of evidence of friction , and violence between people at this time, it is a question of numbers not who they are.
Not vetting the incommers is entirely the fault of successive governments who cut back the Home Office to the bone- so the checks are simply not done because there is no one to do them- ultimately all the people who would rather have cuts than more taxation are responsible for this.

Lemonraider · Today 12:04

JHound · Today 11:47

But it’s a fair question. Why is the skin tone of her neighbours so relevant? She did not mention changes to do with national origin but simply skin tone. Why are we required to just glaze over that?

There are also black and brown Britons who are concerned about migration levels and rapid cultural change but reducing it to skin tone alienates them from the topic (and also suggests that if the rapid demographic change was due to white skinned Europeans or Kiwis they would be fine with it.)

Why is it ok for the PP to voice their discomfort with her neighbours skin tone but not ok for us to voice our discomfort with her focus on skin tone?

Edited

Why is skin tone relevant in the census?

Again, her words, her experience. You don't know the Nationality of a group you find intimidating. She's made a point that is shared across the Country and tried to explain why she has moved to this position. We should be looking at why that shift has happened to millions of people and not trying to close it down with labels or over analyse how it was written. That's why people are increasingly reluctant to try and explain and why they increasingly turn to leadership they feel might understand them. Do you think that poster will post again like that. No, she'll become another supporter of the 'far right' because nobody is even trying to understand what she feels everyday living in her community.
That post was a reasonable attempt at explaining what is going on, but it got the usual response.
Time to consider that the usual response hasn't worked and maybe try something else.

I don’t know why acknowledging that trend is offensive to you.

You may be unusual though. For the main part, well off, educated people tend to be of the mindset of borders = bad, immigration = good, people objecting to too much immigration = racist bigots.

Nothing will budge them from that position.

(Also to claim skin colour as a way of referring to people was introduced to Britain by immigrants as a means of counting people is so laughable.)

newstartforjune26 · Today 12:11

I see lots of liberals being interviewed on camera recently saying that’s they’d happily take a migrant in until one pops round the corner with his worldly goods and all of a sudden their house is too small / flooded etc. amazing viewing.

StandFirm · Today 12:11

Lemonraider · Today 10:38

I don't think they understand that immigration is cumulative and has a permanent effect on changing the population.

Treating a native population like this is inhumane.

Key Statistics on Foreign-Born Parents

  • Mothers born abroad: In recent annual data releases by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), non-UK-born mothers accounted for roughly 33.9% to over 34% of all live births. 1, 2]
  • At least one foreign-born parent: The proportion of newborns with either one or both parents born outside the UK reached a record high of 40.2%. 1]
  • Top countries of origin: The most common countries of birth for non-UK-born mothers include India, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Romania. 1]
  • Regional variation: Concentrations are highest in urban centers like London, where nearly two-thirds or more of births involve at least one foreign-born parent, compared to much lower rates in parts of Wales and Northern England.

How exactly is having a foreign born parent intrinsically a bad thing? People must be judged on their actions and their character, not their origins. Saying 'treating a native population like this is inhumane' absolutely reeks of xenophobia. Who forces British-born people to have less children? Not the immigrants who are having kids. If you want more babies in this country, your anger should be directed at the lack of adequate support for childcare.
