Loo issue in the office

I work in an office with mainly women. There is one man who is senior to us, although he isn’t our manager, and he only started coming over to our office a few months ago.We only have one loo that we all share, and before he started working in our office, this was never an issue.
Now, about 30 minutes after arriving, he disappears into the loo for ages. When he finally comes out, the smell is absolutely suffocating. There’s no window, in the loo and the air fresheners just seem to make the whole thing even more vomit-inducing.
Then, a couple of hours later, he goes again. And again after lunch. And usually once more in the afternoon. This happens pretty much every time he’s in the office, which is around 3–4 days a week.
It has now become a running joke amongst us. If someone needs the loo and it’s occupied, we ask ( other people ) if it’s him, because we all know there’s absolutely no point even attempting to go in for at least half an hour. 😂
My DH actually uses a different loo at home because I hate a poo-smelling bathroom, but obviously if it happens occasionally I’m not exactly precious about it because he’s my DH. I just find it rather gross being subjected to this at work by a man I barely know. 😂

The problem is, we genuinely don’t know what to do about it. How on earth do you approach a grown man about the fact that his toilet habits are basically fumigating the entire office, without completely humiliating him?!
I actually started to worry if he has some serious stomach issues. That would be actually completely different matter.
How would you approach it? Or should we just leave it. We are becoming very cross about it.

That's the issue you need to address, one small unventilated toilet in the middle of an office, it's unhygienic, undignified and should never have passed planning. If this is a genuine post then this needs to be escalated to hr as a hse issue and estates. Where do visitors use the loo, why isn't there one in a corridor with handwashing facilities, even if people shut the door there's nowhere for odours to disipate . Spray fresheners are terrible, especially if anyone has breathing issues or allergies. Laughing and making fun of him is spiteful, what about all the other staff who poo, does it smell of roses, do you laugh at them to.

@Standingupstream Could you ask maintenance to fit a self-closing mechanism onto the toilet door while they also fix the extractor fan,
Then him leaving the door open won't be an issue. A minor thing but it will help keep the smell in.

Can you ask management to make the upstairs look females and downstairs males?

No woman should ever have to use a toilet that is used by men. It's disgusting and vile.

Ane vice versa surely? Not all men are gross and not all women are clean either

But now that is almost impossible in some places. Many coffee shops (and even large museums and galleries) just have unisex loos which are for male and female.

I am always shocked at the number of women who in a (posh) supermarket chain leave the cubicle without handwashing then go back to the store and touch food.

I know, they don't flush, wash their hands, stuff the bowl with toilet paper.

He probably has IBD or IBS. Must be horrible for him.
You can use the other loo downstairs.,

He takes his time, he wanders to the toilet and even stops to chat. Now I don't have ibs/ibd but know people who do and when youve got to go you don't tend to stop for a chat.

He should use the toilet furthest away from his poor colleagues. He is a lazy, entitled man who does not care how his whiffy dumps bother everyone.

It's the mentality of 'I've just had a wee no need to waSh my hands.'

BUT they don't realise they have touched the door, seat perhaps, flush etc and OTHER WOMEN MAY HAVE HAD UNCLEAN HANDS BEFORE THEM.

No she literally has said it is "ludicrous" to suggest she should use the disabled toilet.

I read ALL her comments. I was genuinely asking about her being able to use a bathroom.

It all seems odd to me but I am the type the questions when someone can adamantly confirm someone doesn't have a stoma but doesn't know anymore than that. I will stop before I go back down the rabbit hole. Click on all posts, you will see the conflicting comments. I said in another post, I have actually been in a similar situation. No one gossiped behind his back, just worked around what ever his situation is. Cos adults can be accommodating like that.
