AIBU to be deeply concerned about the sheer number of unchecked undocumented unknown men coming into the UK?

This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

Channel chaos as migrant dies, two women burned and one stabbed on same boat

Forty-five of those on board continued towards the UK and were picked up by a British rescue vessel.

What did your last secretary die of ?

'What did your last secretary die of ?'

😆Haven't heard that phrase for years. What did your last slave die of, was the one in my school.

What's so bad about France?

TemperanceWest · 30/08/2026 11:34

This is the second or third thread you have started on this @CoventryCity , although I think one of them was deleted by MNHQ because it was based on dodgy data from a far right anti-immigration activist.

If you are so concerned shouldn't you be taking real life action? Starting thread after thread on MN isn't going to help change anything.

I am sure the usual suspects will be along soon.

Agree about weak governments. Europe-wide, actually. I suppose it says something about many characters who go into politics.

Look at our most recently elected PM. He (Burnham) dumped Manchester to get an MP role then was put into the PM position by his own party. No one but about 70 people in Ashton in Makerfield (sp?) had any opinion. If that's the sort of people we have in power - is it any surprise they are all self serving atrocious decision makers. No thought for the well being of their 'electorate' (electorate not valid in the case of Burnham since no one in the general electorate actually had a say).

Reform or Restore will be disasterous too. We need the Conservatives back with Kemi in charge. Shame Cleverly has just resigned to go for London mayor in future but c'est la vie.

Kemi Badenoch understands very well the issue of some very different cultures and their negative impact on the UK. so hopefully she will stop this somehow. Unfortunately there's 3 more years of this. How many women and girls will be raped by asylum seekers and immigrants in that time? And that is the governments fault. I guess that's why they won't release the stats.

At least Burnham isn't releasing some prisoners now.

I have. Some other sources say there are 97,519 people in taxpayer funded accommodation.

And many more, costing £60k a year in prison. I don't understand the argument that they have to serve their sentence here. The Nigerian government would certainly take them for £20k a year, so would other governments.
There's verified reports of men grabbing life jackets off the women and children and chucking them over. Many from husbands who have lost their wives. There's rapes and sexual assaults on the boats and in asylum centers. If you wouldn't let your 14 year old DD walk unaccompanied, during the day, in certain countries and many MNers won't even holiday in those countries, because of sexual harrasment, the we need to keep the men, from those cultures, contained, on arrival.

Algorithms need to be banned!!!

It is literally brainwashing people and it’s scary because common sense seems to go out of the window.

I’m fully in support of social media being banned for under 16s and think it should be restricted for adults too.

It's a serious issue. Why do we acknowledge that they're bad for children, but okay for adults? Algorithms need to be exposed and cleaned up massively. They're the reason we all live in echo chambers and some of those echo chambers are horrendously toxic. It convinces people that everyone agrees with them too.

YouGov did a study and found that it is those on the right (Reform and Conservative voters) who are most likely to think that the rest of the country agrees with them, even when facts state otherwise. On some issues Reform voters thought that 90% of the populace agrees with them. People on the left realise that issues are much more nuanced.

What is your suggestion to stop the problem?

Stop the 'pull' factors.
They get 3 meals a day comfy beds, gym and laundry facilities and free bus-rides into the nearest town.
Put them in tents on the Outer Hebrides and they'll soon stop coming.

What 'real life action' do you suggest?

And btw - raising awareness and increasing debate - giving sunlight to issue, ensuring people don't feel they are the only ones with certain views, always helps. Though admittedly - I think many people in the UK population see this issue now.

Perhaps more traction now AB is installing asylum seekers in the Cotswolds (or which ever posher leavy suburbs he chooses. Perhaps the Cheshire village he grew up in).

Because I can’t find the story anywhere else and daily express/mail are known for making stories up.

You were the one who asked why the story may be false and so common sense would mean looking up the story from a more trustworthy source.

I can’t find it but maybe you can.

Just detain them. And deport them. Simple as. They have no right to be here. We detain then and deport them.

Wouldn't the solution be to open up genuine routes to asylum, so that people can be screened and vetted before they even set foot in the UK. Advertise the fact that if you arrive here irregularly, by boat etc, you will immediately be deported to a third country. We have no longer have any legal routes for people to claim asylum without them arriving in the UK first. To me this is the obvious solution. It would stop the boats, allow us to vet people and control the numbers.

Yes. Even the French PM suggested this sort of thing.

Nuances tend to go out of the window when you have a migrant hotel or army barracks full of migrants on your doorstep.

So you don’t want undocumented men living in supported accommodation - but you’d be happy with them living on the streets in tents???

Why do you think homeless people have a higher crime rate than non homeless people?

That’s the most ridiculous, dangerous suggestion I have ever heard of.

SoThatwasSummer · 30/08/2026 11:41

@Parker231 re jig the whole system.

Who as a country do we want to help, what standard of help and why ?

It's been said many times now that we are working on old defintions of aslyulm etc and all the rest.

Id try and stop the immediate crossings.

Id get out the ehcr , do what denmark did and get the message out if you step ashore from boat you will be put into a detention facility .

And re patriated asap

The navy can stop boats ,rescue them and send them to France.

Follow Australia and Denmark's lead.

Once we have that under control and when we can afford to do so id only open support for women and children to address the male heavy balance we have been absorbing for years.
Id also rather be able to give them proper support and help rather than what we currently give to the male migrants ie army barracks.
And be very selective to assist those who are in true peril

Send them back to where? How do you know where they came from and how will you get those countries to accept them?

Edited to remove double negative

Where would you deport them to?

Wherever they came from.
If their own country won't take them back then cut foreign aid to that country, no more visas, no more family reunions until they toe the line.
And if they won't own up to what nationality they are a Guantánamo Bay set up should do just fine with minimum meals and services.

The world is full of people living in appalling conditions but we can't help them all and we can't bring them all here.
