AIBU to be deeply concerned about the sheer number of unchecked undocumented unknown men coming into the UK?

This is some dystopian lord of the flies hell. Those poor women. Burned on the boat. Wth. Poor man stabbed to death. Why are the people that did this then going to be roaming free in the UK? Why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place? Why are gangs not being 'smashed'?

Why won't the government tell us the truth about their crime rates?

AIBU to be deeply concerned about the sheer number of unchecked undocumented unknown men coming into the UK.

Channel chaos as migrant dies, two women burned and one stabbed on same boat

Forty-five of those on board continued towards the UK and were picked up by a British rescue vessel.

Weak governments from Blair onwards

to add - will make me vote Restore or Reform regardless of the idiots running these parties - it's a last hope of someone doing something

ExtraOnions · 30/08/2026 09:51

…yet another thread about migrant crime rates, that’s 3 in 3 days. Almost like a concerted campaign…..

OP the views you are after are all on the other thread (the first was deleted). Nothing new will come from this one, so suggest you stick with that.

LlynTegid · 30/08/2026 09:52

Valid to be concerned. Though it you voted for Brexit, or did not take part, you have contributed to the problem.

From reading these types of threads they are attracting ludicrous amounts of bot comments added to rage bait.

This is one for discussing with people in person. I can honestly say I don’t know anyone who doesn’t feel a varying degree of sympathy for refugees while at the same time feel a varying degree of concern for what is happening on the ground.

I suspect that only bots staunchly come down on one side or the other, most humans are capable of holding opposing views together and having opinions about what needs to be done going forward.

ilovesooty · 30/08/2026 10:00

Oh I'm sure some posters will gather to support you soon @CoventryCity . I don't think "deeply concerned" is the sentiment I'd attribute to this.

backformoreofthesame · 30/08/2026 10:01

Illogical

people on the boats get checked and documented as they come in - yet somehow you link this to unknown men roaming free ?

to smash the gangs remove the demand and start paying welfare to all poor people all around the world. Make sure everyone worldwide has food, healthcare and safety and opportunities for betterment

whilst one man is in abject poverty and another living a life of riches based on place of birth you will always have this. If you can’t see this - if you can’t see how this has played out time and again since Neolithic times i pity you

This is exactly the narrative that has pushed so many Labour voters away (and Keir recognised it too late). You can’t have any kind of discussion around immigration, no matter how nuanced, without it being branded racism. It’s a way to shut down a conversation. Reminds me of the whole TERF and transphobia thing too. You can’t have a nuanced discussion about that either.

Of course we should be talking about young men from countries with appalling cultural attitudes to women’s and safety in particular coming over to the UK (or anywhere) and being free to move around our communities. It’s foolish not to recognise that there will be issues integrating single young men from places where violence (especially sexual violence) against women is commonplace and culturally acceptable in a way it isn’t here, no matter how much people like to claim that being a woman in Britain is just as bad as being a woman in Afghanistan or Eritrea or Somalia.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t accept them, of course we have a duty to accept asylum seekers, but we can’t shut our eyes and put our fingers in our ears about some of the more valid concerns.

You'd describe the OP as nuanced?

And you think this thread is the start of a sensible nuanced discussion?

Don’t be so ridiculous. Fortunately the days of the left shutting down any unease and concern about the huge numbers of people, particularly men, who have no desire to integrate and whose cultures are incompatible with Western values are over.

Captainbird · 30/08/2026 10:05

If you look at Starmers legacy, he really tightened up immigration policy. He reduced student visas, he made changes to ILR, stopped anyone who was trafficked here from gaining British citizenship and massively reduced small boats crossing. Unfortunately the right wing are too stupid to recognise this.

Firetreev · 30/08/2026 10:06

LlynTegid · 30/08/2026 09:52

One hundred percent this! If you voted for Brexit you caused this, and the man who sold you Brexit is one of the main culprits despite claiming he'll be the one to fix the problems. It's almost as though he wanted it to happen. And he can't claim he would have done Brexit differently, because he stood down all his Brexit Party candidates in Tory constituencies to allow the Tories to win which suggests he tacitly approved of Boris' plan.

We were warned that leaving the EU would lead to us leaving the Dublin agreement, which allowed us to return anyone who arrived on a small boat immediately.

I'm genuinely sick to the back teeth of the clowns who've voted for all this shit being the biggest whingers about it. They have zero ability to self reflect and see that by voting Tory, voting for Brexit, voting for Boris that they led us to exactly where we are. And now they'll vote Reform or Restore to fuck the country up even more!

And no, I do not support small boats or endless immigration. It needs to stop.

moppety · 30/08/2026 10:07

No it’s not particularly nuanced in this instance but it is in many other threads on here and you still have people attempting to shut it down as ‘racist’. I read a really long thread on this the other day and peppered all through the interesting discussion were the ‘racist’ crew. Then we wonder why we are pushing people who would have been Labour’s key voters over to extremist parties. None so blind as those who will not see, etc. We need to have these discussions precisely to prevent racism.

Well it was his own party that forced him out, so not sure why you are sneering at ‘the right wing’.

tpwk · 30/08/2026 10:23

YABU to post yet another post when we all know what’s going on. There is no easily solution because of brexit, France used to have a duty to try and stop them but now they’re not.

mbosnz · 30/08/2026 10:24

There's a point at which the word 'concerned' is a tad inaccurate. Perhaps replace with 'obsessed' instead? If nothing else, it would lend a bit of variety. . .

helpfulperson · 30/08/2026 10:25

You do know the numbers have dropped significantly over the last few years don't you?

Cardhey · 30/08/2026 10:27

It’s a bloody joke and they don’t even know the true numbers…. It’s very scary as British will be a minority at this rate….

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good bit of scaremongering!

Lemonfrost · 30/08/2026 10:33

Have you got nothing better to do on a Sunday morning OP? Sit in the garden, Take the dog out. Head to the shops. Anything other than this desperate, endless pot stirring.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 30/08/2026 10:34

When you say “why are they allowed to enter the UK in the first place” can you describe your solution? Should they be shot on sight in the sea, so they’re not allowed to come on shore? A giant sea wall built to prevent boats coming ashore?

When they come ashore they’re immediately documented and processed so your title doesn’t make sense.

They’re given somewhere to stay and a minimal stipend, but Reform appear to want to deny them this which would ironically leave them roaming the uk, with no funds, meaning they’d be sleeping on the streets and have to steal food to stay alive.

Numbers have massively dropped over the last year so the current government policy appears to be working, but I’d love to hear your ideas to improve on this.

What has OP said that is racist? Are you not concerned about the two women burned on the boat and the other one stabbed? I would not be surprised if they were turned upon for witchcraft when the boat got into trouble. Do you believe it is right that the authorities allow the others on the boat, with the murderers among them, into the country in these circumstances?

But there are murderers among these men. We know that. Burning two women to death and stabbing another is not the action of peaceful, law-abiding men. In my opinion, these men should not be free to enter our society given that knowledge. They should be held in custody and returned to their countries of origin unless the perpetrators can be identified through investigation. And, yes, that will be punishing innocent people too but in the interests of our safety, that is an unfortunate consequence to ensure the murderers don’t freely enter our society.
