AIBU to think migrant sex crime data should be published? And to wonder why Labour are blocking the release of that data?

'Victims of serious crimes and their families have joined forces to demand that the Labour government publish detailed data on offences committed by foreign nationals, accusing ministers of withholding information that is “clearly and legitimately in the public interest”.

Among the signatories are victims of high-profile sexual offences and families of murder victims. One signatory is a 14-year-old victim of a sexual assault in Epping allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant, in the same Essex town where asylum seekers were housed at the controversial Bell Hotel.
Fiona Goddard, a survivor of rape-gang grooming who has campaigned publicly about her experiences, has also signed the letter.

Eight relatives of Rhiannon Whyte, a hotel worker murdered by a Sudanese national, are also among those backing the demand.'

But our government is trying to suppress these statistics. That's why it's relevant that we can look at other similar west European countries to see what's happening there as it may help us to understand what's happening here.

Of course if our government published these stats it would make it easier.

Ok. Obviously I’m posting because it’s interesting to me. I looked up the background after seeing the op, it wasn’t hard.

I'm quite sure that would have been extremely traumatic for anybody, never mind small children, to witness. No need to add to the likelihood of small children witnessing such things by placing people whilst their asylum applications in accommodation next to schools when there is already an evidenced precedent of groups assembling to intimidate and on occasion be urged (and actually attempt) to murder the inhabitants through Arson.

The assumption may be that they are not being placed there to placate the 'They're coming for our women and children' groups, but it can just as easily be to protect those individuals and the wider community from the sight of attempted or actual murder on the basis of ethnicity and/or religion.

I must say though, I've never really thought of the actualities of data collection and analysis and their misuse and misunderstanding as having potential for a comedy routine. I'm interested as to why you think that describing exactly why it is fraught with hazard for those with lower levels of numeracy and in the context of people unable to differentiate between fact, opinion and deliberately explicit statements in order to deflect away and elicit an emotional rather than logical responses from those people and the consequences that can have for others not just directly involved but in witnessing the results thereof is making a 'joke'?

How would that help? It's already been explained why direct comparison would be pointless. I wish people would make their minds up. This thread is about some wanting to know how many crimes are committed in the UK by, I don't know, migrants, foreign nationals, asylum seekers, illegal immigrants, brown people, whatever, then it turns to how, in the absence of such understanding, we should look to other nations, entirely without context, weighting or the ability to make useful comparison and adopt frankly barmy measures to protect us against a threat that largely exists in the imagination of Farage fans.

It didn't make a lot of sense to start with but now it's off the wall.

Why would posters believe that the migrants/asylum seekers in Britain are so much more law-abiding than their counterparts in European countries where data is collected?

Another point is the change in public behaviour. So people might trumpet that there are far fewer child abductions/murders than in the past, ergo there are fewer perpetrators. But actually it is because nowadays most people don’t let their children out of their sight . One can imagine that the cry will go out, “Migrants are perfectly safe!” if they are sited in a village - but no account is taken of the fact that women and girls will have amended their own behaviour accordingly, ie not walking alone/home from school etc.

Her nursey have installed security gates and started lock down drills. They have a hotel housing asylum seekers next door. Mahmood has said they won't house asylum seekers next to schools and or nurseries. Pp had nothing to do with it. The fact you're implying she's saying something nefarious, says A LOT about you. Why would I be seething? I don't understand. I'm fully aware that violent fantasists exist. I feel mildly sorry for them (you) but that's all. I'd imagine the ones seething are those who think a lot about causing harm to vulnerable people, not ordinary people like me.
