AIBU to think migrant sex crime data should be published? And to wonder why Labour are blocking the release of that data?

Labour Blocks Release of Migrant Crime Data

'Victims of serious crimes and their families have joined forces to demand that the Labour government publish detailed data on offences committed by foreign nationals, accusing ministers of withholding information that is “clearly and legitimately in the public interest”.

Among the signatories are victims of high-profile sexual offences and families of murder victims. One signatory is a 14-year-old victim of a sexual assault in Epping allegedly committed by an illegal immigrant, in the same Essex town where asylum seekers were housed at the controversial Bell Hotel.
Fiona Goddard, a survivor of rape-gang grooming who has campaigned publicly about her experiences, has also signed the letter.

Eight relatives of Rhiannon Whyte, a hotel worker murdered by a Sudanese national, are also among those backing the demand.'

OP please can you link the actual source and not random things from social media please as most of us won’t click on it.

Oh I see. Won't look at it. Can't see it doesn't exist. Schrödinger's higher immigrant rape statistics.

Ok so it’ll confirm what you want it to be in your view. I find the reference to SM algorithms overlooking the victims and their families’ pain which is very real.

Let’s see what is released.

Who’s overlooking the victims - I know victims, I have been a victim and I work with victims.

Why do people like you feel like you have to take one side or the other.

Why is me saying that the statistical data shows that stranger rapes are only 10% of all rapes means that I’m over looking stranger rapes?

It is statistically men between the ages of 20-39 who are ones most likely to commit a rape - but me saying this is not overlooking victims of rapists who are younger or older than these.

Look at data from other European countries. They publish it, you see. Do you think we're different?

I’m sorry but X is a cesspit of false information. I’m not going to trust a chart by a some random that goes by “smirkley” who openly says in his chart that the data is not adjusted for age or sex composition which is outright admitting he is deliberately posting false comparisons.

I was raped by a stranger. Arrested and found to be in the country illegally. Got given the right to remain in the country by the government despite being charged. Over 10 years ago though now. Wonder if it’s different now.
I am not racist and can see why people flee their home country to come to the UK for safety, but I can’t help but think of my own situation when I hear people bring up topics like the OP. I bite my tongue so not perceived as racist, but I know it does happen. Whether it happens any more than stranger rapes by British national men, I have no idea.

No I just don’t click on social media threads that some random poster has linked.

The majority of people on here wouldn’t either, regardless of their political views because they’re not that stupid.

So to be clear, you think the ICO ordered the MOJ to release data that doesn’t exist, and now you think the MOJ is going to court to appeal this order so that it can try to get out of releasing non-existent data?

Ok then.

They have said that the type of data is releasable in principle. I already posted the HO public release stating they haven’t been collecting it and that even if improvements to collect it go as planned by 2026 they might have a few experimental stats.

Pretty clear there is no data worth looking at yet.

Why then is David Lammy using tax payers money to stop its' release?

Well if they lose Labour will have to release what is being asked for.

I read the reference and in it he clearly states he did not do any adjustments for age or sex which is bare faced admission these figures are raw data that has been deliberately not analysed for actual statistical significance. You’re the embarrassment because you do not understand the impact of his reference.

It’s simple, they are arguing this data should not be in the public domain even if/when it is collected. It’s about the confidentiality of the type of data.

Why should age and sex be adjusted for, in these stats? Better to be raped by a teen than a 60 yr old is it? Many women rape men?

Yep. Labour have treated Rhiannon Whyte’s family and other victims atrociously. It’s coming back to bite in the form of public interest in this block.

Explain that one for me

Really? What about the women and children at higher risk?

They are all ready at risk from white British men and always have been. Interersting that it's only the thought of immigrant violence that's getting you animated.

Yes. It's horrible. And just think how whiny Starmer was about 'protecting' Henry's family from nasty speculation. And yet, here we are.

I think you know I understand that. But you don't seem to understand the point that morality is objective, and using factors and variables to excuse and 'explain' the likelihood of rapey behaviour, isn't appropriate nor useful within this context. The outcome is sex crime, the perpetrators are some immigrants, the victims are UK women and girls (and now old men and boys). It needs to stop.

It does need to stop but in order for it to stop we first need to understand the cause and effect. Which we can't. Your confidence in what the situation is currently is not justified by data. Because we don't have the data, as you said.
So you don't, in fact, want to see data. You want to see the data which supports your currently unfounded opinion. And you will reject any data which may contradict it. It's perfectly fine to admit that. Acknowledging our own biases is the first step in critical thinking.

So let’s add more rapists.
Why do you feel the need to add more.
Why are you coming out to bat for imported rapists.

FairCat · Today 23:20

What purpose is served by correlating immigration or any other status with criminal behaviour? What do you propose to do with this information?

'Innocent until proven guilty' is a core principle of civilised society and taking punitive action only against proven criminals is essential to civic freedom.

Unless you aspire to live under fascist rule there is no good reason for lumping criminals of any kind by country of birth or any other characteristic. Hitler and others tried it, it never turns out well.

Again, it's ok to simply say that you don't understand how statistics work. There are some great YouTube videos explaining what confounding variables are and why they are important to adjust for.
