DH's attire on family holiday

Just looking for some opinions as I don't know if I'm being weird about this!

On a big extended family holiday, all staying in the same house with aunts/ uncles/ cousins/ kids etc that we don't see that often.

DH (late 40's if relevant) is walking around in just the shorts he slept in in the morning whilst he is sorting out our toddler's breakfast etc. No one else seems to be doing this, everyone else is wearing t-shirts.

Is this OK/ normal?

It is warm, and I don't want to tell him to cover up if I'm just being a bit weird and prudish about it.

At the same time, I'm hoping people aren't looking at him and wondering why he's wearing only his sleep shorts from like 6.30-9am, socialising, playing with the kids etc, so it's not just popping down for a coffee. He's unshowered, messy hair etc.

YABU - It's fine, chill out, it's family (even though extended family we don't see)
YANBU - he should cover up like everyone else

It's fine as long as they are proper shorts imo (not boxers).

When you say sleep shorts do they have substantial coverage? If so I think it’s ok.

I wouldn’t be comfortable with that, especially not playing with the kids. He’s essentially in just boxers so if he’s rough housing, chasing or even just sitting with his legs too wide there’s a change we’ll all get a view we didn’t ask for.

He’s not in his own house - he needs to be suitably dressed. Pants (UNDER shorts) and a T-shirt or a dressing gown. Bare minimum.

Assuming they are actual shorts and not underwear, I’m not seeing an issue

Tricky one. My DH would put a T-shirt on but walk around in sleep shorts with the T-shirt but mainly because he’s conscious of his top half.

If he walks around in swim shorts and no top and during the day and you are fine with that, assuming the sleep shorts provide adequate cover then I don’t see how it’s different.

If no one walks around during the day with top off then I think it’s wise to pop a tshirt on.

If they’re proper shorts it’s fine. Boxers, no.

If your husband is having a shower and getting dressed at 9 then I think you’re being ridiculous, unless his shorts are very revealing. But is he seriously getting up at 6.30 on holiday? 😮

Is it the lack of t shirt that's bothering you? Surely that's normal on a beach/pool holiday

As long as everything is covered then this is absolutely fine? Presumably he will be in swimshorts at some point? I dont see the difference between shorts hes slept in and shorts he hasn't as long as they cover what they need to

We have a 1 year old so yes we're always up at this time 😆

For clarity to people asking they are proper shorts (well, jersey pyjama-type shorts) and everything's covered.

Sounds like most people think it's fine so I am a bit less worried now!

It's his family but he does the same with mine.

It's not a beach/ pool holiday, it's just a big house we are spending time in as a family. No one else has had their top off at all so that's why I'm a bit unsure.

Does he shower and change in the morning?

He is fine. There is nothing wrong with having his t shirt off at all.

I would expect him to be dressed he isn't "at home" not everyone will want to see him half naked wandering about it the morning he really imo needs to put a t-shirt on, it is mannerable.

OK, my family wouldn't bat an eyelid, we are quite uninhibited. DHs are buttoned up to the neck people. I have only ever seen my in laws fully dressed or in nightwear and dressing gown if I was up early with DS and MiL was up to let the dog out and make tea.

Meh, I'm in the female equivilient of pj shorts and sleep bra/ bralette as it was a bit warm for the t-shirt last night.
My teenagers weren't balking and all essentials are covered.

He needs to cover his nipples with tape for the sake of public decency.

Doilies is a good one. I was going to suggest hankies with knots in the corners.

Or those little chef's hat frills they used to put on rack of lamb at posh hotels.
