Everyday phrases that piss me off

As the title goes , a couple of examples:

It only costs xxx - What an incredibly ignorant thing to say in this day and age of mass inequality. On any given day there's a bullshit thread on here comparing pension plans and the amount of hundreds of thousands people have saved compared to the ones who have nothing saved.

Well I've never seen/heard that before - well Jackie, I've never seen anyone abuse a wheelchair user or a trans person or a Jewish person in my own life, but I believe that it happens, despite my not witnessing it.

Feel free to rant about other stuff that people are willfully oblivious to.

This is part of the regional dialect where I live. Very ‘normal’ for us, has been forever.

“I lowkey hate/love this” You’re using “lowkey” to mean “casual” or “not very much” so why are you pairing it with an extreme word like love or hate?

Addressing any online discussion as “Chat.”

”Chat, tell me why I lowkey love this sandwich”

If I was admin of a Facebook group (which I am not), beginning a post with "please delete if not allowed" would merit an instant ban.

Lots of people I see on Instagram are doing things with ‘intention’ or’ intentionally’ nowadays, which is pissing me off!

I also see a lot talking about clothes too as the pieces saying is rife(5 new pieces you need for autumn), plus the shoe, lip, trouser saying drives me nuts! As well as shortening everything else, a white tee (it’s a t shirt), a simple knit (do you mean a jumper?) Urgh. I’m really wound up now!

Similarly with houses where people don’t have rooms in their houses online, just spaces.

Another one, "shop" the range rather than buy from the range, or go shopping from the range.

Or "dropped" when they mean go on sale.

I saw something else weird on IG yesterday and I fear it will be the next big expression. I've seen it twice now - can't quite remember the exact phrase but something like "Lidl is the flex". I assume it means that the shop concerned is great?

I guess if it's all open plan it is a "space" and not a "room".

That reminds me of another one which isn't new at all but I still don't like it - "space" used in the context of sector: eg "she works in the tech space" "he's a lawyer in the life science space".

'Sweet treats'

I don't know why I hate it so much.

Like medalling to win a medal. Or podium when they mean win a medal or reach the podium.

They are ‘consistent’ in everything they do too.

See a lot of that in the relationships board on here too.

Seeing ‘gorgeous’ used a lot too. Not incorrectly, but still annoyingly. I suspect this one is a me thing:

Influencer-speak. Influencers who refer to clothes and makeup items as ‘she’. “She’s gorgeous”. It’s a top. It doesn’t have a sex.

And ‘catching feelings’. That one is ridiculous. It’s not measles FGS.

It’s on the same level as people who call the Beatles album ‘Sergeant Peppers’. No. Stop it.

We used to say ‘I feel for you’. Now it seems to be ‘I feel you’. Seen this a lot on here. It always sounds somewhat creepy to me as if someone is being groped.

A bite to eat.

We went for a lovely walk and stopped at the local pub for a bite to eat.

it makes no bloody sense, how can you eat a bite unless it’s an old English word meaning lunch or something.

Also hate the word hack which is used everywhere .

Yes!! It’s usually used incorrectly and regardless just makes the person saying it/writing it sound like a pretentious wanker.

Also hate ‘triggering’ (unless used jokingly or to be deliberately dramatic) and anything to do with ‘establishing boundaries’ which is usually just an excuse to be lazy, selfish or self important.
