Crash on A66 that killed two police officers and 5 others…

1000 replies

bookworm1982 · 22/08/2026 18:53

Am I correct that the other victims were 5 lads travelling in one car the wrong way up the motorway? EXACTLY the same as the 5 Irish lads who died a few days ago travelling the wrong way up a motorway too? Surely not twice in a week? Is there some sort of mental social media thing going on, telling kids to drive up the wrong way? Like a dare? Just cannot believe it happened once, let alone twice. Just devastating.

Some people did something bad.

Therefore, anyone who shares any demographic or socio-economic characteristic with them that I choose to focus on (age, sex, religion, skin colour, immigration status of grandparents, benefits recipient status) is a terrible person. Anyone with two of those characteristics should be deported. Anyone with three or more, no questions, up against the wall, last fagvape, bop-bop. And anyone who disagrees with that is a bleeding-heart loony lefty liberal so-called do-gooder who's just as bad as these thugs, in fact, worse.

Yep, seems completely normal and not at all unhinged to me. Now I'm off to <check notes> make carbonara. Without cream, of course (that's a hanging offence on its own).

'Something bad'. They killed 2 police officers. They are a product of their fucked up upbringing.

And little jokes about carbonara. How inappropriate. Did you do a little tinkly laugh after posting that?

I don't feel much except anger towards the boys who died. But I do feel a lot of sadness for the families, and I don't think its the families' fault, and I think they can bury them however they want.

They can bury them however they want? So if their funerals have rioting and looting and theft of cars and property, driving dangerously because that’s what they want that’s how they lived, it should be honoured and celebrated?

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly + Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan doesn't add up to "all of Ireland". I was disputing the hyperbole - I don't think it's helpful. "All of Ireland" will have a huge range of views on this, and I don't personally know any Irish people who feel represented by the Garda Commissioner or the Minister for Justice.

Where do you actually live? You're most certainly not in Ireland. I am telling you for a fact, the Irish people DO NOT have any sympathy for the 5 boys killed or their families. The only people who have shown any sympathy for them are travellers. Don't you dare try again and tell me what my country is 'thinking' or 'feeling'. There is no 'huge' range of views ffs. I think it's very clear at this stage of the thread you're part of the travelling community, hence the lies and denials.

Time is the best fortune teller and it will expose you as a fool.

Your post wasn’t about fortune telling, it was just you being a fool 😶

We can abhor delinquent teenage violence, feel no sympathy for the perpetrators of that, and still not manage to turn it into right wing rhetoric suggesting everyone who isn’t ‘British enough’ (by that I don’t know exactly what you mean) get dna tested and deported to countries that, presumably, they have had little to no contact with and don’t want them.

McSteamyorMcdreamy · 23/08/2026 19:11

Much love to the families of the two officers killed.

The others I couldn't give two shits about.

Frequency · 23/08/2026 19:11

It's one thing not to have sympathy for the minors who died and their families. It says as much about your mentality as it does about the teenage boys, but it's mildly understandable. Trawling the FB profiles of their loved ones and gleefully sharing screengrabs of posts to drum up joy over the death of someone's child is disgusting.

There is something very, very wrong with humanity, and the blame for that doesn't lie solely at the feet of criminal teenagers.

Anyone who mentions the Polish name. My friend dated a lad with a Polish name . His grandfather moved with his parents to the UK in 1921. Everyone born in the UK since then has a Polish name

And a lot of Poles who came to fight in the Second World War when their own country was occupied stayed on afterwards.

Yep. I knew a couple of Polish Spitfire pilots who got out and joined the fight againt Nazi tyranny at the first possible moment.

Sounds like the same level of consideration these men/boys gave to others and those they killed?

I don’t understand how will AI , tik tok can’t remove the posts!
If Vinted , AI can just delete stuff then TikTok can!
In our nearest town an idiot on a stolen electric nearly hit a mother with a pushchair and a small child!
The woman had seconds to move!
Then the little shit was crying his eyes out as he had lost control of the bike and came off, nearly hurting the mother!
Then at the police station it was all no comment! Then he refused to see the film from CCTV of him nearly hurting the woman!

No, not tarring a whole community with these boys’ behaviour, but definitely tarring the whole community that’s commemorating them so adoringly!

It’s not just about the behaviour of the boys/men. It’s the acceptance of their behaviour by the wider community, and the ridiculous photos of them with angel wings and talking about what wonderful people they were. They were murderously criminally irresponsible and don’t deserve the performative grief they are getting.

Missing the point that it does not matter if feral communities 'don't know what a lefty liberal' is, it is the fact is they are been policed by people who sadly are managed by liberal lefty box tickers. Those more bothered about a tweet than feral youths committing burglaries.

Police have got to be allowed to clamp down on serious criminals. Not waste time and resources on arresting someone who might have mocked a man identifying as woman or someone who had allegedly bullied someone online.

Edited

Unless those same issues existed in the 80s, 90s, and for every second of the last twenty years - it’s not “lefty” policing that’s making those boys the way they are.

Like I said - not a new issue.

I also think @LoveHalloumi that it’s more complicated than just being “welfare,” and absolutely none of those boys would have been impacted by the 2 child cap.

It’s a shit hole. It’s been a shit hole for a very long time. The schools in that area try, I would know - I’ve taught in them, and continue to work with them professionally. Community centres are put up and then vandalised. Alternative provisions try to intervene.

None of it works, because the issue is systemic and not just because of the current, or most recent government.

Law abiding, tax paying, decent members of society, working, studying, living crime free lives are ALL deeply criticising and condemning the way such reprobates are running amok with it seems no consequences under the law.

Anyone who has different views is either one of their number, or is a bleeding heart that never has to have the misfortune of contending with these people.

The Minister is ultimately responsible for the safety of all of us, his policy is operated by the Gardai. So he and the Garda Commissioner actually SHOULD represent our interests. People are sick and tired of all this. Maybe this is the watershed moment. We shall see.

I agree. There is overwhelming condemnation from the majority. It happened the previous week where 8 little trolls hit a young man head on, thankfully he survived.
People have had enough.
I don’t think anyone but the direct family and friends have been kind about them, rightly so.

Who is trawling their fb? This stuff is getting posted everywhere they are proud of their tacky balloon parties and 'poor angles were top boys, do anything for ya nanna loved them' nonsense.

Please don't compare our 'mentality' to those thugs. Someone should say 'so ashamed of him but please meet at ...to discuss happier times' or something.

My dear girl!

It meant that I have my view-the correct one and you have yours and, in the end, only time will show which one of us was right.

That is what the saying, "Time is the best fortune teller" means.

It is an old saying and can be found in medieval literature.

I didn't think that you would literally think it was about Gipsy Rose Lee and her crystal ball.

Dear oh dear!

I think there’s always been a thuggish underclass, that hopefully most members grew out of with age and sense, but social media helps more young people coalesce around these awful activities nowadays.

It’s also extremely more visible to wider society with the teenage balaclava mobs all over the roads on ebikes.

I felt really morally conflicted recently due to a story in our local press where a man got sentenced to life in prison for running down and killing a teenager who had apparently just robbed his young son at machete point. This man ran his car into the mugger who was escaping on the stolen bike. I don’t like it that I had sympathy for an adult who had killed a child, but for the first time, but there it was.

The obligatory tracksuit and gun fingers pose appeared along with the statements about him being such a good boy and I can’t help feeling some incredulity about the lack of serious conversation that needs to be had about the sort of behaviour that leads to these tragedies.

This happened a couple of streets from where I grew up and unfortunately the behaviour of the young lad is prevalent in some parts of that area. Plenty of comments when I was growing up about “your car will be on bricks”

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news… those boys, from those areas, behaving in the way they do - and the consequences of that, have absolutely nothing to do with lefty liberalism.

I would fall over with shock if their parents had any idea what a lefty liberal was, and those areas have been deprived and “rough” for longer than anyone’s been throwing the word “liberalism” around.

My ex husband grew up in Eston, next door to South Bank, 1985 onwards - the area wasn’t hugely better then either.

This isn’t a new problem that’s suddenly arrived because of UC, because of the welfare state, or because of immigration, which apart from the fact one of them has a Polish name, has very little to do with it I’d assume.

Eston wasn’t bad at all. It was fine until British Steel & ICI shut down causing mass unemployment in the area.
The Big council estate at Whale Hill had always had its low life shits -but they were few and far between, the police and neighbours knew who they were. They used to get sent to prison for stealing from shops, low level drug deals etc.
Left wing policy is -like the lifting of the 2 child cap ARE in part to blame for this decline in moral standards, Having multiple children , not ensuring they go to school- because the government just gives you money for having kids -is part of the breakdown of the fabric of society.
Pre 1980 when the big industrial companies started making people redundant-the area was fine. People looked after their council houses and tended the gardens!
You try to make it sound like it’s always been dire -so sorry for being the bearer of bad news - it wasn’t. Only evaluating it from your ex husbands eyes from 1985 doesn’t cut it.

That’s not what you said though, or what I was responding to. You said the Irish people don’t have this attitude… let me tell you we most certainly do. The very vast majority of Irish people are completely outraged, and have no respect for these particular dead people, or their families. Their families are a massive part of the reason they are like this and that they ended up in a situation where they have changed the lives of 3 women and one small child forever. It is their fault their children are like this.

And I said nothing about the burial, but as you mention it, the usual OTT ridiculous gold coffins and blown up images of these lads as angels was just 🤯

I said not all of Ireland thought "fuck 'em", which just simply is the case. Maybe most Irish people do think that, but not all of them. And on the burials, I was responding to criticism of those. But the original post that mine was following responses to has been deleted. I wonder why.

There was an interesting article in the guardian today about this "craze" with young drivers filming themselves driving at excessive speeds. If they get chased by the police even better for them and their followers on social media

Yes,I saw this and wondered whether this tragic incident was connected in any way to that.

The highest immigration has been under the conservatives.
Police were hassling people for social media posts under the tories too.
These issues that you list aren’t specific to left wing governments. I don’t think it helps to be partisan.

Which is why I said “government after goverment has led us to this point.
I blame them all equally.
None of them since god knows when have been bothered about low level crime.
