Crash on A66 that killed two police officers and 5 others…

1000 replies

bookworm1982 · 22/08/2026 18:53

Am I correct that the other victims were 5 lads travelling in one car the wrong way up the motorway? EXACTLY the same as the 5 Irish lads who died a few days ago travelling the wrong way up a motorway too? Surely not twice in a week? Is there some sort of mental social media thing going on, telling kids to drive up the wrong way? Like a dare? Just cannot believe it happened once, let alone twice. Just devastating.

Fuck,
.I’ve looked at the pictures of the officers and I’m crying again.
Ive spent all weekend either crying or outraged.

WHAT is this country coming to?
Sorry not sorry but I blame the left wing liberals, the bloated welfare state that gives out more money the more you breed with no onus on paying for your own kids and lives, the lawmakers for arresting women who tweet ‘hurty words’ rather than arresting thugs who shoplift, small time drug dealers, nick cars, ‘low level theft’, mug people, intimidate communities on their off road bikes & quads (which should all be squashed).
I blame the government for letting in hoards of people who bring all their families and housing - then let communities deteriorate and turn into 3rd world shitholes . There’s no national pride and anybody who has any is called racist.
I blame parents for not bringing up their kids with a work ethic and to respect the law.
I blame the IDIOTS who make excuse
after excuse and play the racisim card for raping gangs/travellers so much it’s worn me out.
DEI. Bullshit.
European Court of Human Rights? Where are our rights to stop thugs killing innocent people?
Government after government has led us to this point.
In the 80s I remember feeling so lucky - because I just thought things would keep getting better. That everything would improve. I thought I was living in a marvellous era.
I realise now that was as good as it gets.
Reported Rape - up by 800% in the last 24 yrs.
The government giving leaflets to people here illegally telling them they ‘might’ get in trouble if they rape us! And we pay for the leaflets!!
Anna Turkey (Redcar MP , Labour) feeling sorry for the 5 dead twats rather than condemning them. Why dont the authorities stop these ‘baloon (deliberate sp) release’ shitty events? Why do we have to ‘be nice’ to everyone?

I feel like I did the day Lee Rigby was murdered.
We are fucked. The nice decent people don’t breed enough to keep the scum at bay.
And now I’m going to dry my eyes and try to cook a carbonara.
Im going to light a candle tonight for those two poor poor police officers whose lives were needlessly snuffed out.

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news… those boys, from those areas, behaving in the way they do - and the consequences of that, have absolutely nothing to do with lefty liberalism.

I would fall over with shock if their parents had any idea what a lefty liberal was, and those areas have been deprived and “rough” for longer than anyone’s been throwing the word “liberalism” around.

My ex husband grew up in Eston, next door to South Bank, 1985 onwards - the area wasn’t hugely better then either.

This isn’t a new problem that’s suddenly arrived because of UC, because of the welfare state, or because of immigration, which apart from the fact one of them has a Polish name, has very little to do with it I’d assume.

Why do young people think they got to copy the stuff on TikTok?

Copying things like this is stupid, pathetic, sad and dangerous.

Stop copying others.

Two police officers were taken away from their families and Cleveland Police due to these idiot

'Especially as it turns out the boys aren't even travellers'

'Anyway, turns out the boys aren't even travellers apparently. Which begs a few questions, to my mind, but...'

Why do you keep bringing up travellers? You don't know, then you do know.

It. Does. Not. Matter. They were feral scum it does not matter if they hail from a traveller's background or were born and bred in a rough estate in Middlesbrough. Crime gangs all the same sort of trash.

I agree it doesn't matter. I was responding to posts implying they were travellers (and that that's why they'd done what they'd done).

I live in the area. I have zero sympathy for the 5 beings that caused this (and thats being polite) absolute scum of the earth and nature has dealt with them accordingly. Absolute sympathy and respect for the police men who lost their lives and massive condolences for their families and all emergency services involved.

Natural selection.

Probably saved others from years and years of grief from these cretins and from countless children being born into those degenerate families.

My heart goes out to the families of the innocent police officers but no further than that.

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly + Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan doesn't add up to "all of Ireland". I was disputing the hyperbole - I don't think it's helpful. "All of Ireland" will have a huge range of views on this, and I don't personally know any Irish people who feel represented by the Garda Commissioner or the Minister for Justice.

The vast majority of Irish people do have this attitude and are in no way mourning the loss of those 5 lads, or sharing any sympathy with their families. Young, old, male, female, wealthy or poor are utterly outraged. I haven’t met a single person who has expressed any sympathy or sadness that these 5 boys killed themselves.

Condolence posts on social media have had to shut their comments, or be completely taken down. The RIP.ie listings that went up had to first close the condolence books, and then just be removed. The funerals had armed guards and helicopters overhead. The level of anger amongst the ordinary, decent Irish person is off the charts and numerous media have highlighted the fact that they have never seen a story like this, involving dead children, where there is absolutely zero sympathy.

This sentiment can be seen being put to good use in the €730k + that has been raised for the poor family they ploughed into.

Nobody, except these boys’ families, are feeling anything but fury towards them.

We live in NE England and my DH is an HGV Class 1 driver. He regularly drives up and down the main roads (A1, M1, A19 etc) at night. He sees some crazy and very bad driving, but this latest craze is pure madness and so dangerous for every other road user. Every other driver must worry that they are going to come across someone driving like this, and every family member left at home, like myself, lives in constant fear of that knock on the door - for what????

My family are due to fly home tonight and will be driving home from Newcastle Airport in the middle of the night. I am actually so anxious, worrying that some other group of idiots / degenerates decide to try it tonight.

The metros are off during the night so they HAVE to get a taxi home. It's ridiculous that normal, law abiding people are worried about something as simple as driving home at night!!! People might say I am overreacting, and I may be, but it doesn't stop the worry niggling away in my head.

Really? You love what those lads did do you? I don't understand your bizarre melodramatic response! What are you finding frightening? Like the lads in Ireland, these lads where known local criminals with parents that sat back and supported it and you think the child is going fare better raises by the same family that are happy with criminality?

Don't be so silly. I don't love murderers.

It's a big massive mess.

No, becoming a citizen- either by birth or conferral- is something which can and should be taken away. If only these five shits and their parents had been shown the door years ago-what loss would it have been.

I do think your way of thinking is entering its death throes and, although it might take a generation or two, the idea that anyone can rock up, become citizens as a gift and then spit on the people that gave it to them is losing popularity and more and more people are starting to question the sense of it.

So, take out the soggy hanky and the tiny violin and get ready to use them.

Citzienship is a privilege, not a right and as such the state should be able to revoke it at any time, both on those who have had it conferred as a gift and those who have it by birthright but whose behaviour outrages society,

An example of the latter would be these five shits and their mothers.

It could mean removal of all state money, the removal of the right to earn money, the loss of all assets including houses and cars, the loss of medical treatment, the loss of education, and ultimately, the loss of the right to stand on the soil of the country you duped and treated like shit.

Where will they go?

Maybe China will take them to work in the mines? Maybe we could build a prison ship that just sails around the world, only coming into port to change staff?

Let your imagination run free but always remember that one day citizenship will be viewed as something that can and should be withdrawn

Because right now the lunatics are running the asylum , aided and abetted by people who defend them either for money or because they haven't got the brain of an intelligent five year old.

I don't care what they think, their thoughts are of no consequence to me, whine and shriek as they will and, as I say, in two generations this will be the majority view.

I think you are the lunatic here.

The highest immigration has been under the conservatives.
Police were hassling people for social media posts under the tories too.
These issues that you list aren’t specific to left wing governments. I don’t think it helps to be partisan.

no, she's right- welfare does this
obviously she's not suggesting they themselves are lefty liberals- not sure if you're just being disingenuous there
champagne anarchists saying yes lift the two child benefit cap and carry on dishing out eye-watering amounts of welfare- doesn't bother us, we're the good ones (who live nowhere near the consequences of our "largesse")

No self awareness or concern about the devastation they caused. Just get the baloons up and balacvas on for their crass knees up.

@SleeplessInWherever I would fall over with shock if their parents had any idea what a lefty liberal was

The majority of people in the UK do not know what a "liberal" is either. Many British people have imported the weird American definition after binge-watching American TV, which is actually the opposite of what "liberal" actually means.

Though the political discussion is going somewhat off-topic.

Yep.

If this had come as a nasty surprise to the family they would be in shock, embarrassed and ashamed.

They certainly wouldn’t post tasteless eulogies all over social media.

That’s not what you said though, or what I was responding to. You said the Irish people don’t have this attitude… let me tell you we most certainly do. The very vast majority of Irish people are completely outraged, and have no respect for these particular dead people, or their families. Their families are a massive part of the reason they are like this and that they ended up in a situation where they have changed the lives of 3 women and one small child forever. It is their fault their children are like this.

And I said nothing about the burial, but as you mention it, the usual OTT ridiculous gold coffins and blown up images of these lads as angels was just 🤯

Agreed. The images of the boys as angels on social media is showing a shocking level of callous disrespect for the police officers, women, and child that were harmed in these incidents.

samarrange · 23/08/2026 19:06

Some people did something bad.

Therefore, anyone who shares any demographic or socio-economic characteristic with them that I choose to focus on (age, sex, religion, skin colour, immigration status of grandparents, benefits recipient status) is a terrible person. Anyone with two of those characteristics should be deported. Anyone with three or more, no questions, up against the wall, last fagvape, bop-bop. And anyone who disagrees with that is a bleeding-heart loony lefty liberal so-called do-gooder who's just as bad as these thugs, in fact, worse.

Yep, seems completely normal and not at all unhinged to me. Now I'm off to <check notes> make carbonara. Without cream, of course (that's a hanging offence on its own).

Missing the point that it does not matter if feral communities 'don't know what a lefty liberal' is, it is the fact is they are been policed by people who sadly are managed by liberal lefty box tickers. Those more bothered about a tweet than feral youths committing burglaries.

Police have got to be allowed to clamp down on serious criminals. Not waste time and resources on arresting someone who might have mocked a man identifying as woman or someone who had allegedly bullied someone online.

The family of a lad who died on a motorised e-bike recently around here (driving in a tunnel where bikes are banned), launched fireworks near where it happened as a 'tribute' despite all the warnings about wildfires, bbqs and fireworks at the time. He'd previously been convicted of wielding a machete, had other convictions, but the family tributes were all the 'lit up a room', 'do anything for anybody', 'loved by everybody' type etc.. I'm sure sometimes lads become tearaways despite being from decent families, but 9 out of 10 times, you read about or see the families of kids like this and understand why they were the way they were.

Your eyes have to light up the room if you're a lad like this - it's the law. Similarly, you have to be a loveable rogue and do anything for your nanna. There's no other way.
