Am I correct that the other victims were 5 lads travelling in one car the wrong way up the motorway? EXACTLY the same as the 5 Irish lads who died a few days ago travelling the wrong way up a motorway too? Surely not twice in a week? Is there some sort of mental social media thing going on, telling kids to drive up the wrong way? Like a dare? Just cannot believe it happened once, let alone twice. Just devastating.

I just saw that on her Facebook page. Perhaps if she’d paid as much attention to her son as she did herself going by her FB page, things maybe a lot different now.

I’m aware I’m coming across as overly anxious here but if there is a craze of daring teens to do this, that terrifies me! The thought that people would willing putting others at risk like that is really scary!

I do think the availability of poorly controlled social media to broadcast their 'exploits' instantly doesn't help and interesting China has banned Tik Tok. We could also live without it (I was very much adult pre Internet and although I really love it in many ways, I can imagine life without aspects of it quite easily)

I could not disagree with this more. Citizenship, whether through birthright or through naturalisation should be absolute imo.

Any country, particularly countries such as the UK who have high levels of development, should be able to - and have the responsibility to - adequately deal with their own criminals. Once the decision to confer citizenship has been taken, that should be final.

You are not overly anxious. This happened in Ireland twice in the days after the 5 lads died. I think it was the next day, the Sunday. One in Cork, one in Dublin. It’s terrifying.

This would be the right and decent thing to do if they were planning to give the money raised to the police officers’ families their children killed, I doubt that’s the intention however.

Instead of rubbing salt in the wound, the parents should put out a statement along the lines of:
We are shocked, devastated and grieving at the loss of our boys, but we would like everybody to know that we are ashamed and sorry for their actions which led to the deaths of the brave police officers who were trying to protect the community. Somehow, I don’t think we’ll see a statement like that.

It's all to do with testosterone and a poorly developed brain. Teenage boys do strange things. Their brains are way behind girls and are not fully developed until in their 20s. Yet, they have men's bodies and high testosterone levels.

Add in the fact that these kids were probably of low intelligence and lacking in education or discipline.

I wouldn't be surprised if drugs were a factor. Did someone mention that Teenage boys use gas cannisters whilst driving?

Live fast die young or it won't happen to them. Regular thing on TikTok. Might be drugs involved. Drivers record themselves at speed. One near me lost control at 120mph on the motorway and killed a pregnant mother. Go on the motorway or main roads at night in some areas and it's crazy
