Crash on A66 that killed two police officers and 5 others…

Am I correct that the other victims were 5 lads travelling in one car the wrong way up the motorway? EXACTLY the same as the 5 Irish lads who died a few days ago travelling the wrong way up a motorway too? Surely not twice in a week? Is there some sort of mental social media thing going on, telling kids to drive up the wrong way? Like a dare? Just cannot believe it happened once, let alone twice. Just devastating.

The Mum of the 18 year old baby is gettong threats made at the baby, which is truly awful, I wonder where this comes from - perhaps he was the driver and is being blamed for the other 4 and is why disorder and Section 60 last night?

As much as I remind myself that the other 4 could have been telling the driver to stop, I feel they probably day to day egg each other on. As Mumsnet says, FAFO

It always comes back to the same thing- parenting.
In the vast majority of cases. Uneducated, not valuing education, not disciplining their kids from an early age, having no experience of good parenting themselves. The cycle repeats itself.

I can draw comparisons with some, not all, Muslim communities in the Uk.

Paris Fury, probably the best known self-proclaimed representative for Irish Travellers proudly states her DC are pulled out of school at year 8 as 'it's the traveller way'.

She says they then have home tutors which may or may not be true but she fails to acknowledge that for the traveller community who aren't DC of multimillionaire public figures, home tutors are simply not an option.

Same as proudly waving off her DD to be married at 16 and live in a caravan with a barely literate teenage husband as it's the 'traveller way, and she's really mature'. Her DD will have the option of leaving and moving back into the mansion with her multimillionaire parents which the rest of the traveller girls married as teenagers just don't have.

I know the traveller site Paris was brought up on in Doncaster. It's a shit-hole which elevates local crime rates. Some traveller sites are okay, this one is not.

I think Tyson Fury put it quite well in a clip I saw where Paris was extolling the virtues of maintaining traveller culture and he said 'you've lived like a premier football WAG for 20 years, WTF are you on about?'.

But none of this is related to the death of two police officers. It isn’t known that the youths killed were even travellers.

These youths were criminal, scum, regardless of their heritage. There families are disrespectful regardless of background.
There is a danger of blaming communities ‘not like us’, it shouldn’t matter. They are UK citizens with attitudes and behaviours created in our society.

I think the fact they’re “travellers” is entirely relevant, sorry.

They have pretended, for years, that they’re some hard done by minority who face horrible hardship and discrimination. In actual fact they’re a bunch of layabouts who make their money by criminal means and terrorise communities. You only need to think of Clarkson’s Farm, where the police refused to do anything about them racing their poor horses up and down a dual carriageway, to see that. They’re so protected in pursuit of not being “racist” that they have been allowed to get away with whatever they want.

When I was 16 I worked at a beach cafe and we had “travellers” set up camp in the car park by the beach. They would threaten and abuse the young women there, but the police wouldn’t do a thing. Within days of them arriving we had to change rotas to ensure we weren’t alone there, because they were getting increasingly violent and angry that we wouldn’t bow to them. They’re just a group of people who have been so used to getting whatever they want that they can’t cope with not.

I don't see it as a pointless waste at all. I am devastated for the families, friends and colleagues of those two Police men that lost their lives but as for the other 5 it's not a waste at all, they would never have contributed anything positive to society, in fact it would be the opposite. They had already caused so much harm to society. Good riddance to bad rubbish that had been raised by rubbish.

Across many parts of society too, not just travellers, the notion which seems to have derailed this thread.

Name changed. I’ve spent the last few months working with a young man who moves in the same circles of this group. Being honest, I’m still waiting to see if he was in the car. This is a cohort of society with poor role modelling, lack of parenting, drug use and knife possession. This isn’t just recent failures, it’s from day one and multiple professional interventions.

A lot of criminality in that A66 corridor area involving nightly raids into industrial sites ,i remember in the 70s criminals would camp in good numbers at night along it and almost getting myself stabbed by some bloke when i was around 5 there.Incidentally,it was about a kilometre or so from where Ann Heron was murdered a few years later.The police never found any trace of her killer.

My sympathy is with the families of the police who died and their colleagues who have to sort the mess out.

It needs to be a harah sentence for evading police when asked to stop. And that sentence applied equally to all in the car.

Can't disagree. My partner and I also both hold this view. "Well they only would have grown up to cause destruction and misery to others so good riddance". The only sympathy is for innocent victims.

That's a very scary way we're heading now if young people are killing themselves and others for social media likes.

Seriously, if it had only the occupants of the VW who were killed, I'd want this to be a non-story. My only thoughts are with the families and colleagues of the deceased police officers - as @EssCarGo put it so succinctly, the 5 people in the VW removed themselves from the gene pool and that is a good thing.

We had travellers pitch up on a local playing field recently, right in the middle of a primary school sports day which had to be scrapped. Aside from all other sporting events having to be cancelled on the fields that weekend, they moved on after a few days. All good on the face of it, it’s their way of life blah blah, but the scumbags left a load of human shit around the edge of the field and two dead puppies.

And they wonder why decent communities dread them turning up. About time they were called out.

Nothing had been released about that lads yet so noone could assume it was the same scenario... this morning however the internet has gone crazy, the family and friend have been posting pictures and theyre receiving alot of focus. People are furious

Unfortunately one of the fuckers had already procreated and his son now being dragged up by an illiterate teenager.He has no chance.

It is a horror story ... those poor policemen and the family in Ireland ... while joyriders can't expect much sympathy it s a tragedy on every level... in catriona OSullivans book "poor" she talks about getting into stolen cars as a teenager and the risktaking and "high " of it numbing her from the horrific abuse and neglect she d been through ... must be the case for a fair portion of those willing to take such extreme risks

The doesn’t surprise me, even in death these families look for trouble, don’t want to take responsibility, it’s always someone’s fault. they’re will be war between the families.

Just to say this is a low life teenager trend, it is not just travelling people.

Last week similar scene, thankfully no deaths, 8 young lads were in the golf car driving down the opposite side of the motorway, they hit a young apprentice driving to work, only 3 of the 8 were travelling people, so it’s definitely a mix.

I’ve seen a post from two years ago where his mum is displaying a scan picture saying ‘she couldn’t be happier’ and is ‘so proud’ of her 16 year old son who’s got someone pregnant

Shame it didn’t make him grow the fuck up. Why was he not at home looking after his child? Presumably that’s his baby mum’s job 🙄
