To be pissed off with my husband. I said how upset I am that the child abuse and rape leaflet from the government is judged as necessary and we are continuing to let these men into our country who pose a threat to women. He just shrugged - I said doesn’t it bother you these men are coming into our society. We have daughters , I am a woman. I absolutely do not feel safe anymore where we live and would not walk on my own anymore. He said no not really. Absolutely furious with him. Does he not have to care as he’s a big tall man? I’m so pissed off, I’ve walked off and he’s given me the ick.

Eh? Why did they produce it, then? Why are they giving it to a particular group of men?

Local authorities pay the private companies to deliver care but don't have any say how much of that hourly rate goes to the carer.If the care companies couldn't recruit any carers and couldn't go abroad, they would have to pay the staff more to recruit them.

@Peedoffdoesntcutit What country did you come from, and do you feel safer here or there? On the whole it is safe for you to go to the park and walk around by yourself and it’s sad to hear you feel unable to do that where you live, especially having come here from another country, presumably in the hope that life would be better here. As a higher rate tax payer I’d imagine you can move to a better part of town.

Not unreasonable to expect your husband to take your concerns seriously but is it possible that he’s seeing you become scared without needing to? As women we always need to be cautious but scared is extreme. He probably just wants you to be happy.

I really despise it when people compare the UK to Afghanistan 🙄 Whataboutery at its finest. Of course, we aren’t the same as Afghanistan but it still doesn’t make it right what goes on in our country, and it’s not wrong to want to try to improve that either.

It is absolutely not rare, that’s the point. It was a rare occurrence as were gang rapes being carried out in the public parks, beaches, roadsides, it is now a common occurrence.
I can think of at least 30 without using google who have been sexually assaulted by a stranger.

And what actual difference would that make to women’s safety? Because the figures around rape and assault have largely remained constant. Statistically the effect is insignificant. And yet, we see over and over again, way more prominence being given to the “problem” of asylum seekers assaulting women than of it happening by British men. Why do you want to focus only on that? It’s like closing your bathroom window in a downpour when you have a fucking great hole in the roof.

I doubt the young lady in a London park stargazing with her date felt safe when the two Afghanistan men attacked them, holding a knife to his throat while they took turns raping her, they were suffocating her in the act, she truly believed she was going to die. Or previous to that the young mother who fell asleep on a park bench, he orally raped her, choking her with his penis until she went into cardiac arrest and died from oral rape, there is more, many many more.

That’s the thing, it’s increasingly on the rise sadly. I wish the government would take it more seriously. I feel like writing to my local MP about that lousy leaflet, absolutely ridiculous.

We do need to crack down on VAWG in its entirety. That includes educating boys in schools, tougher punishments for British nationals, AND also tackling immigration and perpetrators’ who clearly come from cultures that do not align with ours.

There needs to be a large task force dedicated to the spectrum that is the problem of VAWG….

You need to show your working on that. The crime stats should be easy enough to find.

The only issue with that leaflet is that wasn’t issued to all men.

Sadly those crime stats aren’t always reliable as I have noticed many news articles state a man from Dublin accused of rape only to read on to find he required an Arabic interpreter.
There is a two tier system for reporting.

Not really given the op was talking about men arriving and the handy leaflet to stop crime.

Even if every single illegal immigrant was removed from the U.K. right now we would still have an issue with male violence and SA.

There needs to be a proactive approach, it’s sadly never going to be something that can be eradicated. Women’s safety could be massively improved if the police were funded better and had regular presence on the streets 24/7. Literally patrolling in circuits day and night.
