The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Genuinely who wants to watch videos of trudging about in the rain?

No one wants to watch any travel influencer's videos though - rain or shine, so that's a moot point.

I don't like the OP but this is just patently untrue, no travel influencers would have followers otherwise.

ShrubLover · 21/08/2026 11:12

'Youcantmakethisup'. Indeed. Yawn.

FaceEatingLeopard · 21/08/2026 11:09

And you'd be right. If only people wouldn't engage. OP is loving this.

Indeed, I hate how you’re not allowed to troll hunt on MN, some people make such a mockery of women via MN to wind them up watch them go, waste their time, laugh at them, we should be allowed to call it out.

FancyKeyboard · 21/08/2026 11:12

So this was the UK... but I went to Tenby where it was predicting rain every day until the day before we went, then it was glorious sun every day.

Forecasts put a rain symbol even if there's only a 10% chance of rain in one hour of the day.

I’m not going to be able to go out and do the day trips, it’s raining every day. I’m so gutted

Don’t let the rain stop you, put on a waterproof and think how lucky you are to be able to afford a holiday.

SmolTiny · 21/08/2026 11:13

I get you.

A few years ago, I went on my second trip to the Maldives.
It wasn't cheap to get there - although I gamed my accommodation and that worked out cheap and good.

Anyway the point is - the weather wasn't great.
The long range and short range range weather forecasts were entirely accurate.

It was raining on arrival into Male. I couldn't believe it. Speed boat to Maafushi in choppy water and it was grey, The sea looked shit.

I was in Maafushi and Gulhi for about 9 days or something. The weather was patchy throughout and the sea, sky and visibility wasn't the best.

You do really need fine, calm, clear, sunny weather to get the best out of the Maldives.
And it was windy at times, which I didn't like either.

I had a few sunny days there but it just wasn't great.

I never truly felt present on that holiday, partly because of the disappointing. weather and partly my DM died about 4 months previously.

Anyway, I am planning to go back - but to different islands and hopefully to better weather.

I think you're right. The OP is talking shite anyway, they're just having a laugh for attention.

No no still go. The weather forecasts are not always right, and I'm sure you will have some nice weather.

My next door neighbour went on holiday to North Wales last Sunday (for a week) and after all the really hot summery weather we have been having (and the seaside resorts have been less stifling than inland so it would have been lovely there,) it's ended up at 15C and pissing down most of the week. She's so pissed off.

And even though it's in the UK and not abroad like you, the holiday wasn't cheap. A week in a caravan in North Wales in the summer holidays! Cost around £800 I think.

ThelmaDinkley · 21/08/2026 11:15

Well OP you may think you are a travel ‘influencer’ but fortunately you can’t influence the weather

mtobrokeme · 21/08/2026 11:15

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

Oh no. What a tragic turn of events.

SunnyRedSnail · 21/08/2026 11:15

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

There’s no point going out, I won’t be able to get any nice pictures, just trudging about in the pouring rain.

You sound like a right old misery guts!!

Rain is essential to our planet

Who cares if its raining???

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 21/08/2026 11:15

@DeftGoldHedgehog

From my friend Google:

In the UK, meteorological autumn starts on 1 September 2026. Astronomical autumn starts on 23 September 2026 at 1:05 am BST during the Autumnal Equinox.

Meteorological Autumn
Starts on 1 September 2026.
Based on the annual temperature cycle.
Divides the year into clean three-month blocks.
Always runs through September, October, and November.

Astronomical Autumn
Starts on 23 September 2026.
Marked by the Autumn Equinox.
Based on the position of Earth relative to the sun.
Day and night reach equal length.

Sweetpea333 · 21/08/2026 11:15

As my previous comment states, no-one gives a fuck about your photos. Social media and influenzas are the bullshit Olympics for people who are thicker than a whale omelette.

TheChristieAffair · 21/08/2026 11:16

Looks absolutely fine for a beach club

The weather has changed for my holiday
Ggohome · 21/08/2026 11:16

You are being incredibly negative, think of all the great food and bars you can duck into etc and it's unlikely to be pissing down the whole time. If you have a travel tiktok then you should be well travelled and experienced in the ups and downs that travel brings. Not everything works out as we imagine, sometimes it's far better!

ThePieceHall · 21/08/2026 11:17

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:35

Who enjoys being in the rain? If I wanted that I’d have booked a UK holiday.

We’ve had three UK holidays. The weather for each was scorching. I got some glorious photos for the likes. Our three holidays combined cost much less than your foreign, rainy trip. Them’s the breaks.

RogueFemale · 21/08/2026 11:17

@youcantmakethisup BBC Weather says Nice is going to be hot and sunny 30th August onwards (can't see later dates than that and they'd be unreliable anyway). So I don't know where you're getting the rain forecast from.

PotolKimchi · 21/08/2026 11:18

If you have a travel TikTok and you make money from this, presumably this is not the only trip you are going on this year. And surely the point of travel TikTok is that you can demonstrate that not every holiday is picture perfect.

So in fact you are not going on holiday. You are going to work. And the weather is spoiling your work. Your swim is not a swim to enjoy yourself. You aren't interested in the actual pastry or the tart. This is all content. And the weather isn't playing ball. Just like with anything work related then, that's tough and you'll have to pivot. We all have 'work emergencies' and we have to figure it out.

Yes, it's almost like mn hq just don't care as long it drives traffic. Funny that.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 21/08/2026 11:18

Shit travel blogger if you can’t make the most of it and show how great places are regardless of the weather 😂😂😂

reality is it will rain a bit each day and be nice the rest of the time

but you seem to think rain forecast at all means all day

I’m not going on holiday to gorge on food. I’m trying to have a good time, which isn’t possible in the rain.

I hope this thread isn’t genuine because your attitude is so shallow & entitled. Rain is far more important than social media pictures of ersatz ‘luxury’ & I hope it pours every day, all day.

Blondetter · 21/08/2026 11:20

Sheesh. The shallow existence of those addicted to social media. Get a life OP!!!

Piggywaspushed · 21/08/2026 11:20

I would have thought that a SM TikToker would know the newest trend is the 'coolcation'.

I am actually now pondering how all those people cope when they go to Norway ,or the Highlands, for the great photos and find it pisses vertical and horizontal rain at them and their camera lens for days on end.
