The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

It'll look extremely relatable, funny and very British. I bet you anything that with the right kind of humorous and self-aware caption it'll get way, way more engagement than the kind of shot you were planning.

Just adjust your itinerary OP.
Weather forecast is just that, a forecast!
Take an umbrella/ raincoat etc and you will be fine.

In all honesty, you are sounding a bit like a petulant child right now!

I feel petulant. I’ve planned this for a year, forked out thousands, got a brand new summer wardrobe, just for it to end up being British weather.

I’m not far from the place you are talking about - exact same climate. The forecast kept saying it will rain all of this (current) weekend.

It rained 4-8pm yesterday. It is not raining at all today or tomorrow. It will rain for a couple of hours on Sunday morning.

After each bout of rain the sun comes out stronger and brighter than before. There is not a cloud in the sky today, yet the forecast said 50-60% rain (exactly like yours).

Trust those of us who know how the Mediterranean climate works.

lifeturnsonadime · 21/08/2026 10:49

I find it hard to believe that a functioning adult can behave like such a toddler over the weather.

I once went to Venice for the weekend and it lashed it down the entire time we were there. I only had flip flops for shoes with me. Guess what? I bought some proper shoes and a brolly and got on with it! Had a great time.

I think you need to grow up OP!

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 21/08/2026 10:49

Why would you think a max of 2.5 hours in a day is pissing rain? Have you even looked at the forecast you’ve posted. A little rain is not pissing rain. You’re like a toddler throwing a tantrum over a tiny bit of rain- pathetic. Just because you want nice Instagram photos and there might be a cloud you’re having a strop. I’d understand if there were danger to life wild fires or storms but one hour on rain in 24 hours is not something to whine about. Embarrassing for you.

I have a travel TikTok. I don’t want it to look British, I want it to look like the luxury trip it’s supposed to be.

Tickingcrocodile · 21/08/2026 10:49

Can you read?

Yes, I read the forecast you posted which said "a little rain" or "a few showers". I'm not sure how you got pissing rain from that.

I would do your fellow travellers a favour and stay home with your rude comments and petulant attitude.

Wornouttoday · 21/08/2026 10:49

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

Don’t go then if your holiday is only all about your Insta 🙄

FFS. Maybe you should stay home.

That’s great, but do you understand paying for luxury is not the same as paying for weather?

Hayley1256 · 21/08/2026 10:50

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:46

Can you read?

You're being quite rude OP. The forecast you have shared (which is from AccuWeather and known to be inaccurate) even says total hours if rain is between 1-2 so it seems your the one who can't read

Cara707 · 21/08/2026 10:50

Each day of your forecast there is about 45% chance of no rain whatsoever and 55% chance of some light rain at some point in the afternoon! 0.55mm rain is very light drizzle and the temps are high!!

Ilovemyfam · 21/08/2026 10:50

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:31

I’m sure. AccuWeather is more accurate and it’s risk everyday for the days I’m there.

Take a photogenic rain jacket. They sell such cute ones.

Popstarrrrr · 21/08/2026 10:51

It's ok to be pissed as we all want the perfect weather on hols, but now what are you going to do? Unless you plan to cancel your holiday you will just need to adapt.

I went to the Bahamas once and it pissed it down Carribbean style every fucking day. A heavy 30 min downpour, 20 mins of sun followed by another 30 min downpour. In the end me and everyone else just stayed in the pool and shielded our drinks from being diluted by the rain. I know my priorities.

gannett · 21/08/2026 10:51

I can’t go to Menton, get a Menton tart and sit outdoors eating it, it’ll be pissing rain.

You can sit indoors eating it? It'll taste the same.

Dartmoorcheffy · 21/08/2026 10:51

Just edit your photos with AI like every other shallow TikTok "influencer". Nobody will care.

Seriously, you really need to look at yourself because if this is for real, you sound absolutely ridiculous.

Get a grip (of an umbrella maybe)

EspanaPorfavor · 21/08/2026 10:52

Your screenshots say 0.5mms of rain on some of the days, 1-2 hours of rain. Hardly pissing it down all day every day.

why would you book France anyway if you wanted guaranteed sunshine? As someone who lives in the north of Spain I can tell you that August is pretty much always rainy.

And nobody cares about your SM pictures, everyone has a cursory glance and swipes by. Cancel if you can’t find any joy in a holiday.

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 21/08/2026 10:52

You have a travel tik tok and can’t read weather forecasts? You think max 2.5 hours of light rain is the same as pissing it down every day?

TemperanceWest · 21/08/2026 10:52

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:43

I’m not going to be sitting on the quayside when it’s pissing rain!

Everyday is pissing rain. The only day that there’s a chance of it being sunny is the day I’m booked into a beach club, which will be ruined by it raining!

It says a little rain, not pissing down! You will have a few showers, that's all.

hugasaurus · 21/08/2026 10:52

‘Broken intervals with a little rain’.

Honestly OP you sound pretty miserable in general on this thread (and catastrophising massively) so I guess you’ll just have to choose between being miserable at home or abroad.

AnotherForumUser · 21/08/2026 10:53

Even a light rainfall would produce a puddle with more depth than the OP. There's more to life than Insta. And she can't eat her stupid photos when the crops have failed due to the drought devastating this year's harvest and she has no cornflakes to piss on.

LondonLass2026 · 21/08/2026 10:53

hotchocinsummer · 21/08/2026 10:34

Wow, you’re such a joy.
what a horrid thing to say, the wildfires have been horrific this year.
Hope it pisses down every day.

I second this.

I was actually with you until you said you don't care about wildlife perishing in fires, so yeah. You can do one.

And ick about the "not looking good on social media"

gannett · 21/08/2026 10:53

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:49

I have a travel TikTok. I don’t want it to look British, I want it to look like the luxury trip it’s supposed to be.

If you were any sort of travel expert then you'd know that European holidays at any time of year always carry a risk of rain, you'd have backup plans in case of that and you wouldn't dismiss art galleries as a waste of time.

Itsbeenalongtimeincoming · 21/08/2026 10:53

Negroany · 21/08/2026 10:26

You can't go out in the rain? Are you soluble?

I mean if you live in the UK this would be a big problem....

AlgaeDreams · 21/08/2026 10:53

Sounds shit.

I'd stay and refresh yourself on the meaning of percentages whilst chewing a wasp and stabbing yourself in the eye. Anything has to be better than a 50 odd percentage of rain in the fucking cess pit that is the south of France.
