The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Hopefully, the OP will cancel and it will be one less of these influencers and wannabe influencers hogging the best spots to enjoy scenery and blocking the view for others while they pose endlessly to get the best photo.

The French weather gives zero fucks about your holiday, also summer rain in the med tends to be in short, heavy bursts rather than day long drizzle.

Also you ae the best of what you have been given - many people this summer have had holidays changed or disrupted by extreme heat and drought.

We went to Toulouse in late June/early July. On the first full day we were there Sunday we had the most epic thunderstorm and it absolutely poured with rain for about four hours - bang went our plans to wander around the town in search of food and a post dinner drink. We ran to nearest restaurant to our hotel and it actually turned out to be pretty decent and we sat under the canopy with other guests marveling at the storm.

I live in the South of France and it very very rarely "pours for days". Yes the forecast looks a bit shit but it'll still be fairly warm. The forecast for today where I am was rain and clouds all day - this morning I ate breakfast lying by the pool in the sun! Even now, the weather outside is chillier than the 37 degrees we've been having recently, but the sun is still out. Don't catastrophise, you'll be absolutely fine, it's never bad weather for long here.

Can’t cope with the astronomical definitions because that means winter does not start until 21 December and goes on to March. Meteorological makes more sense.

Actually the weather in Scotland has been pretty good this year, lots of sunshine, without the scorching 30 degree heat. Grey days and some rain, yes, but everything looks green and lush, spectacular! Yes, I’m aware there was a big fire in the Cairngorms, but generally speaking, I’m happy . Got my washing on the line today so all good!

A few years ago we went to Nice for Amat half term. I was gutted the day or two before we went, that the weather was showing to be rain every day. It rained about half the days we were away. Always when we were still in bed!

Then don't fucking go. I've never read such a miserable, whining post in all my time on Mumsnet. You're just determined not to find any way to enjoy your break, aren't you? So just stay at home and let your companions enjoy it without you.

@youcantmakethisupI’ve looked at the Met Office forecast for Nice, Marseilles, Poitiers and Bordeaux for the next 5 days. None of these places are showing rain all day everyday. Rain some days for a few hours. Up to 60% chance of rain for a very few of those hours, usually up to 30% or 40%. Warm rain. It’ll be fine.

Even if it does "piss with rain" anyone with imagination can find other things to do or even have fun. A couple of years ago we were in a seaside town in the south of France. One Saturday night there was a open-air music festival we planned to attend and were quite excited about. However, it poured with rain all day and all night and the festival was cancelled that day.

Everyone crammed in to bars across the town and there was a pretty jolly atmosphere as everyone tried (often unsuccessfully) to avoid getting soaked and to continue the party. It ended up being a lot of fun as bars stayed open late and put on music for all the people who were keen to stay up and have a good time.

Totally drama Queen. Meteofrance which is much more reliable than AccuWeather says a totally different thing. There might be a few showers in the afternoon on some days, that's it!

If you really don't want it to rain OP, try putting a tiny statue of the Child of Prague under a bush in your garden the night before you fly out. Your window sill will work if you have a flat. It deters rain for Catholic wedding days in Ireland. You never know.

We went to the isle of man this year end of June heatwave for three weeks before still heatwave in the UK mainland 3.5 hours on the ferry and the weather was not great there but we made the best of it did different things and still had a good holiday so disappointing as it is there's not much you can do about the weather
