The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Currently in the South of France slightly along from Nice & our forecast changed from boiling hot to rain also!! I unpacked allot & added jeans/trainers in but it’s actually been lovely since we’ve been here & we’ve ended up a little burnt as we didn’t bother bringing much SPF!!
There was a very small lighting storm about 2 nights ago but less than 10 mins of very light rain so light everyone still sat outside in it.
Don't despair yet! Fingers crossed for you that it stays nice x

Most people on here have their fingers crossed the weather goes totally shit on her.

She's a nightmare. She's a spoilt brat and has said she doesn't care what happens with regards to wildlife fires as it doesn't affect her. She lost a lot of us at that point.

There’s no point going out, I won’t be able to get any nice pictures, just trudging about in the pouring rain.

Are you only going out for photos or to actually see things?

I genuinely do not care. That is not my issue.

I hope you have the holiday you deserve 👍

I’m not going to be sitting on the quayside when it’s pissing rain!

Everyday is pissing rain. The only day that there’s a chance of it being sunny is the day I’m booked into a beach club, which will be ruined by it raining!

Have you even read your own details?? According to your screenshots the rain will last a maximum of 2 1/2 hours on each day. That's 21 1/2 hours each day when it WONT be raining!

I agree with a previous poster about being able too show your followers how to enjoy the area whatever the weather. Also Sunsets and Sunrises (and actually many landscape type shots) tend to look more interesting when there is a little cloud. If you cant be creative enough to make photos and videos look good in poor weather - perhaps you need to change your ambitions as an influencer??!

Hyperfix8d · 21/08/2026 11:43

This has to be ragebait surely??

dottondool · 21/08/2026 11:44

Clearly this is a wind up

I do feel for you OP. Not because of the forecast but because of your personality. It must be very hard to be so self obsessed. Have the holiday you deserve.

Stay home then… use photoshop for your likes and clicks!

Obviously not real, no one is this vapid.

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:46

Can you read?

Think people are more concerned about your literacy levels, tbh.

Shinyhappyapple · 21/08/2026 11:48

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:49

I have a travel TikTok. I don’t want it to look British, I want it to look like the luxury trip it’s supposed to be.

Fair enough - that’s quite key information. But if what is bothering you is how your holiday looks on SM rather than how it actually feels in terms of enjoying the moment, just make sure that you take your videos whilst the sun is out.

Forecasts are always changeable and very often when it’s showing a lowish percentage of rain, the rain never actually happens. Take your dresses but pack one or two things to keep you comfortable if the weather is a bit miserable, and try to review your outlook a bit - eg you can swim in the rain as you’ll be getting wet anyway; a nice meal is still a nice meal even if you are eating it indoors.

Yetone · 21/08/2026 11:49

There is a saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing. I try to bear this in mind.

I reckon it's Amber from The Archers.

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

Are you only going on hols for social media? It was 40 C last week in France with wildfires.

But I think you should cancel, judging by your miserable replies. Tiktok has ruined simple joys for so many.

I’m sure. AccuWeather is more accurate and it’s risk everyday for the days I’m there.

A risk is a risk..not a certainty. With your attitude, I’d not go. But it’s only a risk of rain. I’d go if it was guaranteed..hell, I went to South of Spain and it poured ..the roads washed away so we’re were stuck with the car for a couple of days and the rain even dripped through the ceilings inside the Crowne Plaza during breakfast. Into buckets 🤣
Made for some interesting photographs. And I only take what I can carry in my pockets and shoulder bag, so no wardrobe to carry. Jeez, it’s an adventure

Unless I’m missing something… these screen shots show very little rain. 55% chance of rain… 1.5 hours rainfall in a day…? Really not that bad.

theemmadilemma · 21/08/2026 11:57
  1. Accuweather actually isn't more accurate. It's forcast for yesterday and today was utter bullshit. My Apple weather app was far more accurate.

  2. I'm about an hour from Nice and used to the weather here. Often they are fast showers. Unless there's a yellow warning for rain, it's unlikely to last long or be the downpour you expect. If they expect a proper downpour it will likely report yellow warnings for flooding like it did yesterday and this morning. It's also now sunny and warm after a torrential down pour and storm overnight.

  3. It can be very spotty in terms of where the rain is falling - doesn't mean all of Nice or the surrounding area will be affected. We can watch rain forecast and it just pass us by and rain 5km away.

  4. Doesn't look that bad apart from maybe Thursday.

Yetone · 21/08/2026 11:58

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:46

Yeah lovely. Humid and pissing rain! Aka frizzy hair and no chance of getting a tan

Tanning is bad for you and very ageing.

Matronic6 · 21/08/2026 11:59

I was going to express sympathy and encourage optimism but then I read all OP's posts. I sincerely hope it pisses down the entire time she is there.

NotAtMyAge · 21/08/2026 12:00

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

Don’t care about that. There’s not been any where I’m heading anyway

And with one short post all sympathy for your disappointment vanished and I bet I'm not the only one thinking this.

My daughter and I planned a special holiday in Italy last year and the weather broke 2 days after we arrived. Did we sulk and feel sorry for ourselves? No, we sat down and rethought what we'd intended to do and found other enjoyable things to fill our days. Mind you, we hadn't gone for the sake of pretty pictures on social media, but to experience a beautiful part of the world and enjoy each other's company.

Simonjt · 21/08/2026 12:01

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:59

Genuinely who wants to watch videos of trudging about in the rain?

Why do you change your walking style during rain?

TheJoyousHiker · 21/08/2026 12:01

You sound ridiculous and spoilt and petulant. No-one wants rain on holidays but most still get out, make the most of it and gave a great holiday. What has the world come to when a holiday is basically for showing off outfits and social media likes ?

Why not pivot and take a how to have a fab holiday in rainy South of France ?

friedaklein · 21/08/2026 12:03

This is a wind-up.
But if not, this is why I despise influencers.
One of my friends has become one abd she can't enjoy anything without turning it into content. Not even a coffee.

Justtryingthis · 21/08/2026 12:04

Can you just clarify OP?

Is it the “Rain” or the “Pissing Rain” that you are most concerned about? As you mention both and I’m leaning towards “Pissing Rain” being the worst of the two… but can you clarify this so I’ve got it settled in my mind ?
Just so I can fully appreciate the scale of what you’re dealing with.
TIA.
