The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

I’m not going on holiday to gorge on food. I’m trying to have a good time, which isn’t possible in the rain.

Only because you lack imagination.

Armorlux · 21/08/2026 11:28

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:31

I’m sure. AccuWeather is more accurate and it’s risk everyday for the days I’m there.

AccuWeather isn't more accurate. It takes averages of previous years.
If you want a French weather forecast, since that's where you're going, then use Meteo France.

If you're just going for the nice pictures (of you there? Sorry haven't RTFT) then take the opportunity to immerse yourself in a bit of French culture instead. Or even spend a morning in a hypermarché - so much better than anything here.
It won't be raining all the time anyway.

AlwayAnxious · 21/08/2026 11:28

Oh ffs. Stop moaning. You sound like a teenager
Count yourself lucky you get to go on holiday

PistachioTiramisu · 21/08/2026 11:28

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:29

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

Well, don't put them on social media then! Simple!

I really don't think it will pour with rain every day, all day, in the South of France at this time of the year!

AnonyMumAuDHD · 21/08/2026 11:29

Yetanothername3 · 21/08/2026 11:24

I do not think travel insurance pays out for holidays cancelled due to the risk of rain, does it?

Or bad social media videos and pcs.

SeeingClearlyNow · 21/08/2026 11:30

Moaning about it and refusing to see any bright side is helping you how?

dnadiscoveryquery · 21/08/2026 11:30

So much negativity. Not once have you said, yeah, it prob won’t be as bad, you’re right, it never is, and I’ll make the most of it.

But when you said you didn’t care about wildfires it showed the kind of selfish person you are. They’ve been devastating.

Maybe you should stay home and just indulge your misery.

AnonyMumAuDHD · 21/08/2026 11:31

Perhaps you should go to Gaza or Iran, or Afghanistan. Plenty of sunshine, no rain and you can still wear your dresses. They’ll have to be black and cover you from head to toe, but I’m sure you’ll look fab in the SM videos.

ymemanresu · 21/08/2026 11:32

This is a wind up - ignore OP

God, you are determined to have a shit time so most likely will. I think you’ve accidentally demonstrated one of the bleakest things about social media. You’re going to the South of France, but apparently there’s “no point” going out because the pictures might not look nice. At some point surely you have to actually live the holiday rather than produce evidence for other people that you had one. Tbh you are not an experienced traveller I doubt.

GingerdeadMan · 21/08/2026 11:33

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:37

Okay so for example:

A sunrise swim. Can’t do that if it’s pissing rain and cloudy, it’ll just be grey.

I can’t go to Monaco and walk along the harbour, it’ll be pissing rain.

I can’t go to Menton, get a Menton tart and sit outdoors eating it, it’ll be pissing rain.

Are you always this miserable and dramatic? You sound about 12!

Wear a rain coat and have your walk. Sit outside under a shelter to eat the tart!

Have you ever swum in the rain? Its glorious, give it a go.

Surely you realised when you booked it that sun was not guaranteed?

We can't afford a holiday this year. We can't go camping because my disability is making it too difficult. We had a couple of days in a premier inn and it was great because we were together and had a laugh.

You've cheered me right up actually. Maybe I'm not missing out as much as I thought.

Pasithean · 21/08/2026 11:33

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:41

I’m not going to walk about with an umbrella like I’m at home, I don’t want to get fucking soaked

Don’t fucking go then. You lost me on your comments about the wildfires. We have family and friends in those areas .

NeelyOHara · 21/08/2026 11:34

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:30

2 grand for the week plus excursions etc while I’m there just for it to be the French version of the town I live in! I’m absolutely gutted

2 grand for a week Air bnb in South of France? Thats basic sweetie, not luxury.

rivalsbinge · 21/08/2026 11:34

Same OP we canceled and are going to the west coast Scotland to embrace the cold and rain in style!!!

SapphireSeptember · 21/08/2026 11:34

Meanwhile I'm swearing at the weather forecasts every time it says it's going to rain but doesn't. (We had ten minutes of rain yesterday, that'll sort the drought out, not!)

Summer rain is lovely, it's like being in the shower.

Agreed. Or it’s a reverse

Ilovemyfam · 21/08/2026 11:35

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:48

I feel petulant. I’ve planned this for a year, forked out thousands, got a brand new summer wardrobe, just for it to end up being British weather.

But surely you have had good use out of your brand new summer wardrobe this summer in UK. So that made it worth buying it.

Bjorkdidit · 21/08/2026 11:35

I bet your Tiktok is loads of fun if you exhibit the same personality on there as your posts on here.

The screenshots you've posted predict hot weather and the occasional shower at worst. Just pack a brolly and have your holiday as planned. Who cares whether or not it's wall to wall sunshine? You'll still have a great time unless you're determined not to.

Crazycockerpoo · 21/08/2026 11:36

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Awww
And in the real world, some people have REAL problems! Grow up and get a life.

SmolTiny · 21/08/2026 11:13

I get you.

A few years ago, I went on my second trip to the Maldives.
It wasn't cheap to get there - although I gamed my accommodation and that worked out cheap and good.

Anyway the point is - the weather wasn't great.
The long range and short range range weather forecasts were entirely accurate.

It was raining on arrival into Male. I couldn't believe it. Speed boat to Maafushi in choppy water and it was grey, The sea looked shit.

I was in Maafushi and Gulhi for about 9 days or something. The weather was patchy throughout and the sea, sky and visibility wasn't the best.

You do really need fine, calm, clear, sunny weather to get the best out of the Maldives.
And it was windy at times, which I didn't like either.

I had a few sunny days there but it just wasn't great.

I never truly felt present on that holiday, partly because of the disappointing. weather and partly my DM died about 4 months previously.

Anyway, I am planning to go back - but to different islands and hopefully to better weather.

You know what else isn’t great in the Maldives? The human rights record. It’s illegal for citizens to not be Muslim.

DRESSSHOPPINGHELP · 21/08/2026 11:38

Currently in the South of France slightly along from Nice & our forecast changed from boiling hot to rain also!! I unpacked allot & added jeans/trainers in but it’s actually been lovely since we’ve been here & we’ve ended up a little burnt as we didn’t bother bringing much SPF!!
There was a very small lighting storm about 2 nights ago but less than 10 mins of very light rain so light everyone still sat outside in it.
Don't despair yet! Fingers crossed for you that it stays nice x

SlappyHap · 21/08/2026 11:40

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:25

I’m not going to be able to go out and do the day trips, it’s raining every day. I’m so gutted

Umbrella?

Hat?

Jacket with hood?

Alton Towers poncho?

WestwardHo1 · 21/08/2026 11:40

FFS. It's a weather forecast not a vision of the future.

Why are people still unable to understand that weather forecasting is not fortune telling. It looks at likelihoods based on various forecasting computer models. "They are saying rain every day" does not equal "it will rain every single day all the time!.

chedderland · 21/08/2026 11:41

I'm surprised you ever manage to have fun with an attitude like that.

GingerdeadMan · 21/08/2026 11:41

LeastOfMyWorries · 21/08/2026 11:25

One of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on here. The forecast says things like "some showers in the afternoon" for goodness sake- Stop swearing, pull your big girl pants up and go and have a good holiday. Or stop whining and gift it to someone who might appreciate it?

Ooh great idea, put me down OP Ill take one for the team and go to France (in some drizzle?) on your behalf!!
