To think that Harry and Megan's return to the UK has everything to do with money running out?

That really. I mean it's not like they are loved here whether it comes to family or the public. I think Harry might genuinly want to live in England whereas his wife is looking for the attention and money.

Why would anyone want to live in a crumbling old house in England when they have a beautiful house in Montecito?

When they can't afford the house in Montecito?

How wonderful to have this thread then to show the UK isn’t the racist nasty place a lot of people think it is…

Where's the racism?

Dollymylove · 20/08/2026 09:10

I think they overestimated how popular they would be in the states. Their only currency was slagging off the Royal family and I think they underestimated how much the American public admired our Queen and all the pageantry and the colour. Most of their A list American friends started to fall away and the invites dried up.
I think KC will forgive them, for the sake of his grandchildren, but I dont think William will be quite so magnanimous. I predict a shit storm when he claims the Crown 😉

There is a royal family board for reason ....

yep and loads of threads on there.

TealSapphire · 20/08/2026 09:10

If family is so important to them, what about her father? Oh that's right he's not cashed up.

What is her beef with him anyway? That he set up or sold pictures or stories to the media? Exactly like H and M did to the royals.

No, I reckon they want a British education for their kids so they become properly British and are shaped in their heritage. And to mark their territory. And maybe to get away from US politics.

I also suspect this is schooling-related.

Screamingabdabz · 20/08/2026 08:38

I don’t think it’s about money. It’s about being relevant. Them being in the UK and being a constant thorn in the side to the RF is too delicious for any narcissist to resist.

I suspect this is the reason.

I can’t imagine how awful it is being in the public eye and criticised like they are, but I think the majority of people would respect them a lot more if they had quietly quit the Royal Family and the public life they claimed to despise.

Instead their life has been a series of very public stunts and statements that reflect really badly on them. Put simply they are embarrassing. Not because of her race, but because of their joint behaviour.

Or the king is sicker than has been announced.

or he wants to bring his children up near his mothers family.

or he just didn’t like America.

i don’t understand why people are angrier about this than Andrew.

I haven't seen any evidence of anger. If anything, people are laughing after the way these two went off in such a big huff, and the way H has been banging on about his family's security in the UK.

Tableforjoan · 20/08/2026 09:13

Moneys running out and papa is dying. They need to cement their royal places back in the uk before Willy is king.

No way did the uk suddenly stop being so unsafe and racist in mere weeks from having court cases about security because it’s so so unsafe. Nor did family become so important as papa Merkle still publicly at least isn’t on the radar.

Always an ulterior motive.

However hopefully they enjoy their new home and the children enjoy their U.K. life.

ZenNudist · 20/08/2026 09:16

CrispyK · 20/08/2026 08:32

How would you or anyone else know?
Leave them alone for goodness sake.

@CrispyK I don't think they want to be left alone!

I reckon the move is another chapter in their reality show. It gives them something new to sell. When it all goes wrong they can flounce to a different country and sell HAM's Italian Idyll, Parisian dream, Swiss getaway etc. Could run to 10 seasons if they can persuade netflix to take them back.

Whyhaveibeencutoutofmamsnot · 20/08/2026 09:18

So they are running short of money and don't have jobs.
Will they be entitled to claim UC when they get here.

Sereine · 20/08/2026 09:19

mydogisthebest · 20/08/2026 08:56

I really doubt they are running out of money but all the haters will think that.

Good luck to them moving here. That will put workshy William's nose out of joint

They aren't going to be doing Royal duties.

dustabsorber · 20/08/2026 09:20

Jeremy Vine is doing "Are you glad H and M are returning to UK". There is no escaping this.

CurlewKate · 20/08/2026 09:22

As I said on one of the other threads- people like them ALWAYS have money.

dustabsorber · 20/08/2026 09:22

Perhaps AB is sorting them the annexe of Number Ten North

That's interesting. What makes you think Harry is genuine and reasonable, and his wife is a money-grabbing attention-seeker?

What's the difference between them, I wonder?

Considering you know neither of them.....what obvious traits are you drawing on here?

NetZeroZealot · 20/08/2026 09:26

No I think it is mainly due to Harry wanting his kids to have the same traditional British public school education that he received.

I expect you're trying to imply that poster is racist, but the most obvious difference between them is that one is an American brought up in celebrity culture and the other is a member of the British royal family.

Tiddlywinks63 · 20/08/2026 09:27

Have they jumped or were they pushed?
Something’s happened for them to have made such a precipitous move!

Bollihobs · 20/08/2026 09:27

user293948849167 · 20/08/2026 08:30

I’m sure their families still love them! Harry will never be a working royal again but would be nice for him to build bridges with family right? For his children to get to know their heritage on their Dad’s side?

Hope they just live here quietly like a lot of the other minor royals manage to… I fear that’s too much to hope for though!

Them?? "live quietly"???? 😂😂 😂

Cucurella · 20/08/2026 09:28

I hope that they are reconciled with Harry’s family. Otherwise I’m not interested in seeing their faces, I haven’t forgotten their disgraceful and disrespectful interviews.

How sexist. Man wants family, woman wants money, eh?

And what makes you think they want to be loved by you? Very presumptuous.

Their kids will grow up being nobodies in the USA. My guess is that the kids being a Prince and Princess in England will give Meghan the star power (and 💰) she is yearning for…… since her A list Hollywood celeb and jam making didn’t quite work out how she dreamt.

Edited

Why the focus on Meghan all the time? Very strange how she is blamed and monstered for everything. I wonder what the reason for the hate could be?

MsDitsy · 20/08/2026 09:33

MandemChickenShop · 20/08/2026 08:23

Up to them. And if it is the reason, so what? Doubt they will be tapping you up to lend them a tenner.

I agree to a point but if it's our taxpayers pound that ends up paying for the bad decisions they have made that make them unpopular, then we can comment to be fair. True ita all speculation, but that's Mumsnet for you.
