To think that Harry and Megan's return to the UK has everything to do with money running out?

That really. I mean it's not like they are loved here whether it comes to family or the public. I think Harry might genuinly want to live in England whereas his wife is looking for the attention and money.

How much money did they make from all their deals?

One of the big boys, I think Spotify, maybe Netflix gave them a massive wedge then called them grifters when they didn’t deliver.

I don’t think Megxit would have happened had they foreseen COVID, the deaths of PP, the Queen, Charles & Kate’s cancer battles…

paddleboardingmum · 20/08/2026 08:53

His dad has cancer. I'd say that's a completely normal thing to do in that circumstance.

This. You'd think they were criminals. Leave them alone, it's so vile they way they are treated.

Teamrabbit · 20/08/2026 08:53

The pair of them have got zero shame.

Please stick to the RF forums, no-one else cares.

I'm Australian and multiple news sites were running breaking news stories and live updates this morning. It would seem to be huge news around the world. It's certainly not a new concept that people are interested in the lives of major celebrities, especially when they're controversial.

mydogisthebest · 20/08/2026 08:56

I really doubt they are running out of money but all the haters will think that.

Good luck to them moving here. That will put workshy William's nose out of joint

Araminta1004 · 20/08/2026 08:29

No, I reckon they want a British education for their kids so they become properly British and are shaped in their heritage. And to mark their territory. And maybe to get away from US politics.

This was my first thought too. I’m not fussed either way by them, but I can’t see why anyone feels the need to get riled up over this. I can fully understand why they might want a private education for their kids in the UK though, and why wouldn’t they want to be closer to his family?!

Latesummerbreeze · 20/08/2026 08:46

I find the hatred towards Harry and Meghan very weird and misplaced.

No one on mumsnet knows the reason why they are moving to the UK.

Maybe it’s a money thing, maybe Charles is very ill, maybe the family have mended rifts behind closed doors and they want the children to become close to their family, maybe their priorities have changed now the children are getting older, maybe Harry is very homesick, maybe it’s the British education they’re interested in.

Honestly who knows. I can understand the interest in them, even people disliking them.

But the venom and hatred is so weird. There are far worse people in the world to dislike than Harry and Meghan.

Perhaps direct your anger more at The Taliban, Putin, Trump, Pedos, Rapists, murderers.

I don't think there's much hatred. They're celebrities and people are interested in the gossip. This decision seems contradictory to their planned intentions and their statements about the UK and RF. Their decision to move to the UK is therefore surprising and interesting. Many news sites around the world were running live updates. I think that hatred and interest / some amusement at their choices is being conflated. I'm sure there was hatred in the past but it seems to have disappeared and been replaced but simple interest on MN.

Badbadbunny · 20/08/2026 08:58

No one forced Meghan to act like a spoiled Princess
No one forced them to ruin family ties by selling secrets in a tawdry book deal
They brought it all upon themselves.

Lots of "slebs" do it - deliberately put themselves out there all the time for the attention, money, etc., and then cry foul when they get attention they don't like.

Lots of other "slebs" manage to live a relatively normal, quiet, life as they don't court the media all the time, and some of them are pretty invisible in normal life.

Play silly games, win silly prizes!

Binnyforthewin · 20/08/2026 08:58

I would have thought it was more the attention is running out. Netflix seems to have lost interest n them

His wife and father and recovering from cancer. I think William and Kate have done very well to hold it all together.

The obsession with this couple knows no bounds both here and on Gransnet where the bitter and twisted comments are already well underway.

To save posters making it up as they go along and confusing fact with fiction we really need Meghan to join Mumsnet and do an AMA thread 😄

I find it quite amusing the way that so many supporters of the monarchy have a massive downer on these two and seem to hate almost every damn thing they do.

One of the arguments for abolishing the monarchy is that it's very hard to get rid of a royal who is unsuitable unless they behave truly appallingly like Andrew Windsor, If we didn't have a monarchy, H&M would just be an ordinary upper or upper-middle class couple and no-one would give a shit.

The very fact that these two can do the stuff that riles the monarchists is because there's a monarchy.

Why would anyone want to live in a crumbling old house in England when they have a beautiful house in Montecito?

To avoid sending their children to school in a country with such a high level of school shootings? I know a number of Brits where this was a factor in their return to the Uk.

moonraker0 · 20/08/2026 09:01

Attention running out more like it.

The press are always going to be interested in H & M there's no way they could ever live a quiet invisible life.

Wasn't her sister on here doing "I am a celebs sister AMA", last week?

Exactly. One can actually live a quiet, private life in Montecito. That’s why A-Listers live there… But that’s not what Meghan wants!

They are still richer than you so I wouldn’t stress about it.

But they are still liars and drug takers so no amount of money makes any difference. Your bank account in no way reflects your morals.

Retro12 · 20/08/2026 09:04

I don't think their money is running out, if it was, they would be making selling their souls again promoting and advertising brands.... I think the king may be more ill than we are privy to.

VestibuleWeaver · 20/08/2026 09:05

Hollycoco · 20/08/2026 08:48

Their kids will grow up being nobodies in the USA. My guess is that the kids being a Prince and Princess in England will give Meghan the star power (and 💰) she is yearning for…… since her A list Hollywood celeb and jam making didn’t quite work out how she dreamt.

Edited

Yawn.

I agree its very odd. And I just dont see how whether they live in America or the UK makes any difference to anyone here, its not like they will be any different.

Didn’t we figure out it was Katie Price’s sister? I didn’t keep up with that thread & find out… We’d rumble Meghan fairly quickly!

Dontcallmescarface · 20/08/2026 09:09

Why is it that the people who accuse H&M of just wanting attention are the ones that give them the most attention? Most grown ups tend to ignore people they don't like so why don't you just do that OP?

Latesummerbreeze · 20/08/2026 09:09

It is quite common for people’s priorities to change as their children get older, relatives get older etc.

The lifestyle that suited them when the children were babies perhaps no longer suits them.

His dad has cancer. I'd say that's a completely normal thing to do in that circumstance.

His dad has had treatment for cancer. H doesn't have a close relationship with his dad, even C himself said he was a distant father because that's all he knows.
