AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

It explains the age of consent.

The every day British bloke will have been told the UK age of consent in a British school. An asylum seeker will not have been told the UK age of consent before, so it's probably a good idea he is told as soon as possible, isn't it?

Consent is different from dragging a woman or girl to the ground and raping her. I doubt that is legal anywhere in the world tbh.

Because white people are bad too. Yes shit is bad here. But no way to the catastrophic levels in these crappy nations.

It's the equivalent of discussing the frequency of serious injuries as a result of XL Bully attacks and someone going "ASKHULLY the problem is MAMMALS"

The intent behind it is to obfuscate and waste your time, and to exhaust you until you stop telling the truth.

Not the every day British person. The small % that are scum.

A small percentage? Don’t be ridiculous.

EasternStandard · 19/08/2026 21:40

91% yanbu

I think it’s obvious that the OP was complaining about the type of men that are coming in for these leaflets to be needed. She’s not specifically sayingthat she has issues with the info in the leaflets. Obviously no one should be harassing women.

Yes the vast majority of British men don't rape children.

EmeraldRoulette · 19/08/2026 21:41

@lazyarse123 "There's a York Labour mp who has piped up about migrants in Linton on Ouse because it's a tiny village with nothing there but one of her issues is that there is a nursery and school near the camp. Now why would she be worried about that if there is nothing to see here?"

yes, I found it particularly interesting that she said that. She was the obviously the one who was saying we should allow tens of thousands more originally, but she has obviously familiarised herself with actual facts since then. I don't think I've heard one of her actually mention the issues around schools before.

I wonder how many asylum-seeking men commit crime in the UK in order to be detained. Life in a UK prison could be far better than life where they came from.

In my area (of criminal justice), you can’t be deported whilst a crime you have ‘potentially’ committed is being investigated. So guess what they do once one allegation is concluded. Our police are pulling their hair out.

Well, I'd equate it more to trying to stop further broken legs by teaching people how to do things properly.

The fact is that we're obligated by international law to provide safe refuge to people who need it, and qualify. Sometimes those people come from places with laws similar to ours, and sometimes (a lot of the time) they don't. Many can be taught our ways, and some can't. If we shut the door on the many because of the actions of the few, we'd be in breach of international laws and we'd be abandoning many people to serious harm and/or death.

The same argument can be applied to many situations, not just asylum. Shall we, for instance, ban all dogs because some of them kill? Should we put a curfew on all men because some of them attack women?

Should we not lock our doors at night because most men aren't burglars?

Yes, it makes no sense 'oh, men are already bad enough, the bastards – I know what will help! Let's add more who are even worse!' Confused

Erm, how about you don't? How about just focusing on sorting out the homegrown ones? But for some reason that's racist? Even though it's about culture, not race.

You do realise there are many Afghanis (to use an example from this thread) who are decent people, yes? You can't possibly assume they are all dangerous rapists, that they are all "even worse".

It is the assumption that all Afghanis (for example) are dangerous and must be barred from entering the country which is the racist part.

The Afghanistan example is particularly pertinent given how many of them put themselves and their families at risk to help British service personnel during the wars.

In Islam, forced violent or abusive sexual relations in marriage are forbidden. Islamic principles specifically prohibit a husband from using force, coercion or violence against his wife. "La dharar wa la dhirar" (there shall be no inflicting of harm or returning of harm ") applies to sexual relations in marriage.

Yes the vast majority of British men don't rape children.

Are you suggesting the "vast majority" of migrants do?

HollyhocksandPeons · 19/08/2026 21:42

It's bizarre to me that people actually try to argue that men from places like Sudan, Eritrea, Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia etc aren't more of a risk to women, given how women in those places are treated. It's utterly nonsensical. I have to think they know how ridiculous they're being, but they persist anyway. Why?

Apparently the statistics posted by OP show that Indian, Romanian and Polish men are higher risk than Afghan and Pakistani men. The other countries you mention don’t even show up so must be lower risk than white British.

Interestingly, the top 3 highest risk are not Muslim countries. 2 are majority Christian.

Afghani men do pose a greater threat. The us gov has imposed a full travel ban on Afghanis

That’s madness! It’s rewarding people for being criminals

But the ‘scum’ can look like the ‘every day British person’ and a pilar of the local community. How would you know the difference?

And the vast majority of cases won’t even have been reported at all (the ones taking place in the home).

Mumterz · 19/08/2026 21:44

In Poland the per capita rate rate is 1.3 Vs 100+

Many MNers say they find Poland so safe and nice and peaceful
