AIBU to think if we need to politely ask men not to rape women (or men), then we don't want such people in the UK?

Don't rape, sexually assault or make kissing noises' at people, asylum seekers warned in guidance about living in UK
UK arrivals have been told to treat women equally, not sexually assault partners or have sex with children in a new Home Office pamphlet. As well as the guidebook, a series of posters have also been designed by the government.

You do realise there are many Afghanis (to use an example from this thread) who are decent people, yes? You can't possibly assume they are all dangerous rapists, that they are all "even worse".

It is the assumption that all Afghanis (for example) are dangerous and must be barred from entering the country which is the racist part.

The Afghanistan example is particularly pertinent given how many of them put themselves and their families at risk to help British service personnel during the wars.

Looking at the numbers of Afghanis given asylum in Europe and the UK, every person in Afghanistan was either an interpreter, or otherwise assisting the Allied Forces. Literally hundreds of thousands of them. How come the Taliban won? The math is not mathing. The numbers don't add up.

Afghani men do pose a greater threat. The us gov has imposed a full travel ban on Afghanis

You’re using the US government as your yardstick for morality? The US government? Epstein’s friends?

But the ‘scum’ can look like the ‘every day British person’ and a pilar of the local community. How would you know the difference?

And the vast majority of cases won’t even have been reported at all (the ones taking place in the home).

We have enough of our own then? Don't need to import more.

Mumterz · 19/08/2026 21:47

If I offered you a packet of biscuits and only a few were poisoned.... How many would you eat?

I don't think people in the UK comprehend the levels of extreme sexual violence in other regions:

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2025/jun/30/sexual-violence-tigray-women-abuse-gang-rape-ethiopia-eritrea

Thats fucking awful, so many dead as well. i’m ashamed to say I wasn’t paying attention when this happened. The insertion of objects reminds me of some of the grooming gangs victims. The sadism is off the charts, it’s complete and utter dehumanisation.

Any government can do good things or bad things. It was the US gov that in 2019 arrested and sought to prosecute Epstein.

This current adminstration has a full just ban on Afghanis coming in

Neither do the vast majority of immigrant men. So what’s your point?

We don’t know the bad ones from the good ones (men). Same as single sex spaces exist for a reason when the majority of men aren’t offenders. Safeguarding measures exist for a reason. Same with men from potentially misogynistic cultures.

Is this the same US govt who has a close affiliate of Epstein as president?

You know, the guy who ran mass trafficking and rings of sexual exploitation?

The same president who's had to pay millions to someone he raped? And who boasted about grabbing women by the pussy?

That's the bastion of safeguarding for women and girls you'd hold up as a shining example?

Well, you do you.

lazyarse123 · 19/08/2026 21:37

Why is it racist to not want thousands of men from mysoginistic cultures to come here? They will have passed through plenty of safe countries to get here so why not claim asylum in one of those?

👏👏👏👏

Why do people ignore the fact that some of these men coming to the UK can be sexually repressed and have often been brought up in different cultures where women and girls are concerned. Different attitudes towards women do exist, whether we try to brush it under the carpet or not. Societies differ in regards to women’s autonomy, and relations between men and women.

Octavia64 · 19/08/2026 21:49

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 19/08/2026 21:25

Quite. Why don’t people (women) holiday in Sudan, Afghanistan, Eritrea? Anyone? Those who welcome unchecked migrants why don’t you pop over for a jolly and see how you get on.

Sudan and Eritrea are literally war zones.

foreign office advice is do not travel. Neighbouring Ethiopia which is generally pretty safe has lots of restrictions due to the civil wars in neighbouring countries.

it is interesting through how people have very different attitudes to Muslim countries.

Dubai, which is Muslim and where sex outside marriage is actually illegal is often held up by people as a great place to go and live. Lots of families and single people go and live there - and you won’t hear anyone saying that men from Dubai have appalling attitudes to women and sexually assault them.

Afghanistan, which many Muslims regard as a total shithole where the people cannot even begin to be good Muslims is excoriated by British people when many Afghani men have exactly the same attitude to women that men from Dubai have.

You mean people who have been bombed out of their homes and had their lives and families destroyed as a result of Western nations arming militants to attack and destroy their countries in the pursuit of oil/minerals/gold/whatever shouldn’t expect those same countries to provide refuge?

The British government can do a very simple thing to “stop the boats”: stop bombing other countries, and stop supporting the “allies” that do.

Consent is different from dragging a woman or girl to the ground and raping her. I doubt that is legal anywhere in the world tbh.

You need to look up a lot more information about this. What's considered rape, what's considered violence, the places where your rapist will get out of it if they marry you...

are some women really operating at this level of ignorance is bliss? Is that one of the reasons why it's so hard to get people to see sense?

@lazyarse123 "There's a York Labour mp who has piped up about migrants in Linton on Ouse because it's a tiny village with nothing there but one of her issues is that there is a nursery and school near the camp. Now why would she be worried about that if there is nothing to see here?"

yes, I found it particularly interesting that she said that. She was the obviously the one who was saying we should allow tens of thousands more originally, but she has obviously familiarised herself with actual facts since then. I don't think I've heard one of her actually mention the issues around schools before.

'Asylum seekers banned from being housed near schools
New rules brought in by Shabana Mahmood

This comes amid a series of rapes and sex assaults by migrants. Figures obtained by The Telegraph last year showed the number of sexual offence convictions of foreigners had increased by 62 per cent in four years.'

Why is that? Are British families allowed to live near schools? Why is that?

Don't rape children? You think your ever day British bloke needs to be guided not to rape children?

Yes, since all but one of my rapists as a child were British.

RoseandVioletCreams · 19/08/2026 21:51

@Dibdibbob I am terrified and I have daughters!

Can anyone woman ever move around at any time of day or night and feel truly 100>safe ?

I only would if i had a few attack dogs trained / weapons and personal training in combat like Lara croft.

Then I would feel safe day or night whereever I was.

So yes I am terrified and worried and and feel ghastly that we are importing thousands upon thousands of men no matter where they are from but the happen to be from backwards medieval cultures who treat women very different !

They do.

This country isn't a single sex space however.

It remains bigoted to ban an entire country / culture / race on the false premise that they're all dangerous sexual deviants.
