Hi everyone so I got a coil swap over last week. From the mirena to the Kyleena. They told me to abstain from sex for 7 days or use condoms. But we did not once. This was last Tuesday I got the coil swap over. And I had sex the Saturday the few days before. I done a pregnancy test today and I swear I see a second line! But would a pregnancy test show up this early on?! HELP

Most people don’t take such risks when the stakes are so high - an unplanned pregnancy.

I know but if you think about those of us who were the result of drunken one night stands/forgotten contraception/thinking it a 'safe part' of the month and so on. It's not that unusual.

Op. You’re not answering straight, but it’s starting to look like you really wanted to fall pregant amd tried to use this opportunity to increase the possibility of this.

you weren’t stupid or silly were you, you saw and opportunity and took it, that’s why you’re testing so early

I don’t think this thid is someone who can’t follow instructions, I think this is someone who saw an opportunity to get pregnant wmd took it.

Bridesmaidorexfriend · 19/08/2026 15:57

Looks gray to me - indent line. How long after you took the test did you take this pic? Go and get a clear blue 5 days early test to check

shhblackbag · 19/08/2026 15:57

It reads more and more like a pregnancy is what you wanted.

allgoodhere783 · 19/08/2026 15:58

You silly sod OP!

Fingers crossed for you, and I hope you'll be more responsible in future, for your sake.

To be honest, OP, you knew the risk so you can't have been completely against the idea of pregnancy.

I hope it's a false alarm and that it's given you a wake up call about contraception.

Strongopiniononaboutprettymucheverything · 19/08/2026 15:14

Like I said, nasty. And now you've just reinforced it.

Is it nasty, though?
When someone totally disregards medical advice, can't be arsed to use a condom, then nigh on boasts about doing it 3 times one of the day?
Nah.
That's stupidity.

Cause I’m human and sometimes we are silly

Sometimes?

Seriously - if you dont want a baby then dont have unprotected sex - multiple times!

Gemilo · 19/08/2026 16:09

And the fact that the baby might be aborted through someone being so irresponsible is sickening.

WonderfulSmith · 19/08/2026 16:14

Cheese55 · 19/08/2026 13:54

Why?

More sex means you are more likely to have a boy. It’s why there are more boys born after a war. It’s called the returning soldier effect. Reunited post war couples have more sex, the earlier on in your cycle you get pregnant the more likely you are to have a boy. If you are having lots of sex then you are more likely to get pregnant earlier.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/CbQ18g6MH5cts0PJvdKhGQ/why-are-more-boys-born-in-certain-years

Bill James had observed that the chances of a woman having a boy or a girl change very slightly throughout her menstrual cycle. If she gets pregnant earlier on, she’s marginally more likely to give birth to a male child. (This might be to do with changing hormones or acidity levels at different points in a woman’s cycle.)
The theory goes that during times when lots of people are having sex more often, such as when men have just got back from a war, women are more likely to get pregnant sooner, so more boys will be born. On an individual level, these variations are so small they’re irrelevant. But across hundreds of thousands of pregnancies, the tiny differences in probability stack up.

BBC Radio 4 - Uncharted with Hannah Fry - Why are more boys born in certain years?

Mathematician Hannah Fry gets to the root of this intriguing question.

Mulledjuice · 19/08/2026 13:39

Where do you get that from??

I think its to do with the sperms quality. When we were ttc we were advised against doing it everyday. Every other was meant to be better cos the sperms will be of a higher quality.

Wigglewagggle · 19/08/2026 16:25

I am currently pregnant with a much tried for pregnancy so I caught my ovulation down to the hour I believe. My first positive test was 8dpo (very very faint) so it is definitely possible to catch it this early.

I also had a chemical the month before I got pregnant with this pregnancy and my first positive with that was 9dpo.

Does your positive look anything like mine ? In the pictures. Thanks

Nope it wasn’t planned but I do take full responsible for bein stupid and not using condoms but I’m not the only one on the earth that this has happened to. I think I’m gettin judged harshly

You think you’re getting judged harshly??? You admitted yourself that you were told not to have sex for 7 days, but went on to have unprotected sex every day and once 3 times on the same day?!!

For that, yes, you are getting judged!!

Zippidydoodah · 19/08/2026 16:40

Gemilo · 19/08/2026 16:09

And the fact that the baby might be aborted through someone being so irresponsible is sickening.

But that isn’t anything to do with you - would you prefer it to be born into a less than ideal situation? Of course ideally it wouldn’t have been conceived but most abortions are due to accident or failure to use contraception properly.

Anarchy99 · 19/08/2026 16:47

BringBackCatsEyes · 19/08/2026 15:45

Most people don’t take such risks when the stakes are so high - an unplanned pregnancy.

If you live in a country with free and safe abortion, then an unplanned pregnancy isn’t high stakes though.

I’d argue that for many women emotionally it is. Few are Blase about it,

shes said she’s unlikely to abort, as said, it looks like she wanted to be pregnant.

ColdAsAWitches · 19/08/2026 16:53

Did you tell your partner about the risks of not using condoms and the fact you'd been given them to use for a week, or did you tell him you'd had the coil fitted so all would be fine?

Anarchy99 · 19/08/2026 16:57

Venusunbroken · 19/08/2026 16:52

shes said she’s unlikely to abort, as said, it looks like she wanted to be pregnant.

Well the combo of having unprotected sex and not wanting an abortion does rather suggest that. .
