Reform want to cut PIP

1000 replies

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 09:15

Reform want to cut benefits for disabled people. They want businesses to pay more towards sickness etc. I find it repulsive that they want to do this. When will people understand that they are a bunch of self interested sharks who want to make a stack of dosh for themselves while in govt and that they font give a damn about anyone in need. Why cant the most vulnerable ppl who vote for them see thus. It's astonishing. It's ac joke. I eish ppl who get what Reform.iscreally about and how it manipulates would make sn extra effort to tslk to.ppl who dont seem to get it.

Good . There are far too many people supposedly not able to work and the country is bankrupt . The whole benefits system needs a rethink to give working people something in return for their tax costs ie working services , everything is broken .

Edited

There are not enough jobs for people who are able to work.

Missingmymeds · 16/08/2026 13:41

This government is coasting along more concerned with environmental change than what's happening under its nose
The next government..will have a shit show to sort out ,thanks to this government and the previous one

Ah yes that old chestnut, from people who couldn't maintain that life of hard grind if they had a team of staff to support them! Amazing how well people would cope in the hypothetical situations they've never had to face. They have ALL the answers.

And they are slways the perfect parents of their hypothetical disabled children never putting a foot wrong.

Only 1 in 5 work. Something does need to be done about the benefits bill.

I would never vote Reform myself but this will be popular.

It would probably be more if employers were willing to employ them but many don't purely on the basis that it work cost them in lost production due to the employee needing more time off. If you have a non-disabled person and a disabled person both up for the same job with equal amount of experience then take a wild guess at the candidate most likely to get the job.

Robert Jenrick has spent months telling us all how Labour policies are making things difficult for businesses.

Robert Jenrick is now telling us businesses will have to fund sick pay for employees for two years.

This.

The NO rise was a stealth tax is all we’ve heard.

But now businesses to to find money to insure employees against illness to be able to fund sick pay for up to 2 years.

And of course - if you have to pay sick pay you’re absolutely going to take on someone with a history of illness and disability.

Yoj can’t make it up 🙄

Yes actually I do. Of course it will create more admin for me but that is far preferable in my opion than spongers and frauds milking the system unfairly. Truly disable people are currently suffering because the system is totally out of control!!!!!

Impressive how you've single handedly cured anxiety though. Maybe you should somehow patent your idea? You'd make a bomb.

If he had his PIP reduced it’s because he’s been reviewed and had his ‘rate’ lowered.

Maybe he’s told the missus his lowered income is her fault for earning more because he feels he fucked up his review? Or he/she are confusing PIP and UC?

There’s nowt so queer as folks’ PIP tales.

Possibly because he is recovering? He had a heart operation a few months back

I’m one of the hated people. I get enhanced rate for both daily living and mobility thanks to arthritis, spinal problems and cancer. I don’t have a motability car (although I’m eligible for one). I am 65 and I have had PIP for the last 3 years and I won’t get my state pension for another 2 years. Like many others my age and older I don’t have a private pension as I stayed at home looking after the children and then had low paid part time jobs to be there for them in school holidays etc - no wrap around care in those days! Therefore PIP is my only income. It has funded my powerchair, a riser recliner chair and loads of little bits like grabbers and sock aids. I’m currently saving to get the bathroom redone so I can have a walk in shower with grab rails but that’s a while off yet. I worked until Covid. Lost my job, got bowel cancer, had complications from treatment that involved having both hips and knees replaced and now have spinal problems that mean I can only walk very small distances and need to use a powerchair when out. I’d be happy to do an admin job or similar but my age combined with medical history mean no employer will look at me. If I had been able to access my state pension early then I wouldn’t have applied for PIP. What do you suggest people in my position should do??

Re: your bathroom, have you approached your local council? It probably varies from area to area but there are grants available. My local council offers interest free loans if you own your house, which are paid back when your house is eventually sold. I wish you all the best ❤️

So why are so many arriving on work visas .. supermarkets and chicken shops classed as skilled work and bringing people over ...don't make me laugh

Gooseling · 16/08/2026 13:32

It isn’t a race to the bottom of who is more deserving and who isn’t.

Funny how it’s always the abled bodied who like to decide which disabilities are deemed “disabling” enough.

People who unfortunately have disabilities or chronic health conditions are far more empathetic and understanding, as we know exactly what it’s like to live with conditions. I have an incurable chronic illness. I wouldn’t dream of trying to shame someone who receives PIP for anxiety.

Also, why do you believe people who receive PIP for mental health conditions are “sitting at home”? You do realise that we can receive PIP AND work AND pay tax.

I honestly cringe at views like yours. Absolutely clueless.

Clueless am I? I am a Court of Protection appointed Deputy for a severely disabled relative with a lifelong disabilty from birth. I deal with all of his care via Direct Payments and deal with Social Services and the NHS over his needs. My grandparents cared for him without a penny off the state till they died. I know more than you think you just don't like the fact they system is currently RIDICULOUS!!!!!

That is a whole separate issue.
What jobs are all the disabled people who will be chucked off benefits meant to do?

If someone claims benefits their whole lives or for a large chunk of their lives, they will amass enough NI credits to qualify for the full state pension. That is what I mean.

So not all people in receipt of a State Pension will have paid into the pot for their whole lives as per your assertion.

Then I stand corrected.
However, it seems that the Government (and I don't know which one) dropped a blooper there.
It is amazing that in designing a state pension system in the 21st century, the government had to include special rules to protect women affected by a rule designed in the 1940s.
Positively, women who paid the reduced stamp at any point in the 35 years before they retired, and who come under the new State Pension system, can claim a minimum payment under the new system.
So, if any woman is getting a substantially reduced amount from the new State Pension, she should check if she paid the reduced stamp and contact the Pension Service if she is in any doubt.

Theworldsgonemadagain · 16/08/2026 13:46

I think people are seriously uninformed about the reform voter. Working class people fed up of working hard and taxes going to the bone idol. Not people on pip and claiming benefits as those are labour supporters. There is a massive proportion of young people out of work and claiming benefits it's beyond a joke. Pip is there to help those who really need it to work absolutely not millions of lazy people with some mild depression. Reform voters are majority ex Conservatives like myself who are fed up with fake promises of sorting the country out. Although I am being drawn back in by Kemi she seems to have her head screwed on.

Of course! Just like the best parents are those with no children, those best placed to manage a life with disabled children are those without any experience of it whatsoever, yet oh so happy to share their expertise with those actually living it.

And of course colleagues complaining that the person with disabilities needs reasonable adjustments that they don’t get, or that they need time off that they don’t get, or can’t work as fast as they do etc etc. No one can see anyone getting any kind of support or concession without having a moan about it.

We’ve even had people on this thread say they’d pay multiple times more to provide formal care, just so that a parent goes out to work, despite it making no economic sense. People have lost their minds.

Yes. CLUELESS.

You might know all about your relative’s disability and needs.

But you know absolutely fuck all about anyone else’s. Therefore you have no right to spout ignorant venom such as “Not in the same way as those that are truly disabled” as if someone made you the director of decisions on who’s deserving and who’s not.

I am totally embarrassed for you.

Reform want to cut PIP
SpaceShark · 16/08/2026 13:49

For as long as you refuse to see why a normal, educated, reasonable person might be drawn to Reform, you are never going to get your point across.

Chenecinquantecinq · 16/08/2026 13:50

People are claiming PIP for ridiculous issues such as hypermobility and mental health issues such as anxiety. It's an absolute piss take!!! It also does not help those who are anxious etc to be paid to sit at home and wallow in their "disability" FFS people need to see the system for what it is including things such as Motability where family members are added to the cars it is an absolute JOKE.
