To think my neighbour is selfish tw*t for lighting a fire

Ok so how many people, after receiving a government alert about wild fires asking them not to have fires in their garden, would then in fact go against that and light a big F off fire in their garden, well that would be my next door neighbour! We all live in close proximity in terraced houses and my neighbour thinks it’s a good idea to light a fire. The fact the fire is (for now) contained in a make shift fire pit makes no difference, I mean it’s twa**ish behaviour right?

I’ve taken pictures of the fire from my upstairs window and my neighbours turned around and spotted me. I don’t care though. I want proof incase something should happen. We’ve had dealings with this family before, they’re basically nightmare neighbours so usually I try my best not to rile things up but on this occasion I don’t care. It’s reckless behaviour.

I tbink its only advisory isnt it. Unless you arr a total idiot you can easily put measures in place to contain it.

I would call 999 and let them know. Let them decide. I think in the circumstances they are highly likely to send a police officer round to get them to put it out.

But surely you have the common sense not to light a fire when the ground is covered in tinder?
I live in a county where there's been several wildfires, and the town pissheads/tramps are still lighting fires whenever they please. Fair enough, they may be disillusioned with society (aren't we all) but dont make the fucking wildlife suffer.

About this time six years ago some fucker set the green bin shed belonging to the apartment block beside our house on fire at about 4 in the morning. If my eldest dd hadn’t been awake due to Covid crazy sleep schedules we could have been in serious trouble. As it was over €11,000 worth of damage was caused to our house but luckily everyone was ok. The fire brigade were here in about 7 minutes.

They appeared to have put the fire out now thankfully.

our neighbours did this a few weeks ago and someone called the brigade on them and they came and put it out and gave them a lecture and let the kids have a go on their hose (pre hose pipe ban)

We live in terraced housing so it could quite easily spread to others gardens. Once they had a fire and then went to bed and there were still embers blowing everywhere. It’s so dangerous especially in such close proximity to others.

Why would anyone even want to have a fire when it’s still boiling hot in lots of places? Might be cooler there but it’s still 21° outside here. Poking or being near a fire sounds horrible

My sons working 12 hour nights at the wildfires at the moment because there simply isn’t enough firefighters or equipment.

I would report him. Call the police. It's a national emergency and it would your house that will be burned to the ground as his neighbour.
