At a casual lunch, a woman I know very slightly changed her seat to be near me, then suddenly started gouging the sole of my foot with her nails, I suppose as an attempt to tickle me.

As I have serious nerve pain in my feet, it was excruciating. It still hurts.
She didn’t stop until I had said No, stop, more than once.
I know she didn’t know about the nerve pain but still, who does that? And doesn’t stop when asked.
I wish I had screamed in her face.

She may have been annoyed/bothered at you having your bare feet on her furniture, but if you're a 'get your shoes off in my house' kind of person, then don't complain if people have bare feet. Some people only have sandals on especially with it being summer and so hot.

I went to someone's house the other week, with DH (someone he knows,) and she told me to take my shoes off. I only had little sandals on, and would have been barefoot, so I said no. I said 'my sandals are clean, it's not rained for 2 months and there's no mud about and I've literally just got into the car and back out and not walked anywhere outside really. Only the driveways.'

She said 'I'm not happy with shoes on my carpets though.' She has 4 dogs and her house stinks of stale cigarettes, sour milk, piss, and dogs, and her carpets are dirty; covered in dog hair and dirt and food stains ... I said 'I'm not walking barefoot on your carpet.' DH said 'don't be awkward Ginge.' I said 'I'm not being any more awkward than she is.'

tl;dr, she let me in through the back and I was made to stay in the kitchen-diner. DH did stay with me, but after an hour we both left. Never felt to fucking unwelcome. Won't be going back THERE again in a hurry!
