NDN using our allocated parking space, not their own!

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:05

Our neighbours have started using our allocated parking space instead of their own allocated parking space.

We've spoken to them but they have continued. The view of their space is not a clear line of vision.

What to do next???

I’d be knocking everytime or just sit there beeping. Other neighbours will understand if you let them know in advance why you are doing it.

BeSharpBeaker · 12/08/2026 12:48

Take photographs document timings. See a solicitor, take them to court and reclaim expenses from them. They have their house as an asset.

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 12/08/2026 12:52

I have had to out something in my morning space as a “this is mine back off” for the same reason. If I get back and they were parked there I wound just block them in.

pinkyredrose · 12/08/2026 12:36

Just use thiers then.

That means the CF neighbour wins - that’s what they want - op to just go oh well they can have our superior car bay!!! It’s selfish and rude

What do they do sit and watch their car?!?

Bollards or block them in every time

Random321 · 12/08/2026 12:55

Put bird seed on their roof!

Or you could be reasonable and just use a bollard like everyone has suggested.

Dustyspringburn · 12/08/2026 12:55

These neighbours are so entitled. Block your space when they go out next. Or install a security bollard. Why do they need a clear line of vision? Is their car very expensive? If it is, they could get some dash and rear cameras installed and move back to their own space. And tell the other neighbours what these people are doing.

BeeCucumber · 12/08/2026 12:57

If you have been on here since the dawn of Pom Bears and Lemon Drizzle Cake Gate, you most know how to deal with this issue.

Gardenisablooming · 12/08/2026 13:04

Rugby team solves all.

Marieb19 · 12/08/2026 13:07

You could try mediation or could you block their car in. If they have to approach you and ask you to move your car every time they need to leave, it may take the shine off your space.

OneDreamyAquaEagle · 12/08/2026 13:07

TheSkyRaisin · 12/08/2026 12:40

The best way to deal with this is to completely dig up your parking space under cover of darkness, to a depth of about twelve feet. Then cover the hole with a grey tarpaulin, so that it looks like a normal parking space. When your neighbour next parks there, they drive into the hole, you fill in with cement, and boom - problem solved. HTH.

😂😂😂

gingerscot · 12/08/2026 11:19

So use theirs when it’s empty and they are in yours?

This.
When you need to park and their car is in your space, then park in their parking space.

Buscobel · 12/08/2026 13:15

Is it a new or relatively new build? If so, can you download the conveyancing map, which will show allocated parking and how much there is for each property.

ThreadGuardDog · 12/08/2026 13:17

BirdLandedonmyHead · 12/08/2026 12:42

Apparently it takes 1500-4000 post it notes to cover a car.

If you are bored.

A large piece of plain wallpaper on which you write ‘ please do not park in my space’, then liberally spread with paste and placed over the drivers’ side of the windscreen. Rinse and repeat until they stop. I’m guessing after they’ve had to take a scraper to the windscreen one or twice they’ll get the message.

PhuckTrump · 12/08/2026 13:17

Yes, we all love a diagram. But do we really need one? NDN cannot see their space from their window, so have taken it upon themselves to use OP’s instead.

@NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking what did they say when you asked them to stop?

MrsPatrickDempsey · 12/08/2026 13:18

YABVU - there are any solutions to this problem.

SamphiretheTervosaur · 12/08/2026 13:18

Your only possible next step is a penguin bollard

Kingunderthemountain · 12/08/2026 13:18

Private parking sign with your house number on it and penguin bollard
or get some burly men with a van and tow cheeky neighbour’s car away.

MsRubee · 12/08/2026 13:18

I had this issue with my neighbours MIL. I’d arrive home, and she’d be in my spot for “a few minutes “. I just parked behind her ( I could only assume she wanted to visit me) then when she needed out, I just yelled that I’m on a call and would be “a few minutes “. I took my time, she didn’t do it again.

ZenNudist · 12/08/2026 13:19

Can you get the space run by parking eye? It will tie them up in paperwork for months 😀

JudgeJ · 12/08/2026 13:19

Rosesandthorns66 · 12/08/2026 13:13

This.
When you need to park and their car is in your space, then park in their parking space.

No, this gives them what they want by default and doesn't make life awkward or unpleasant for them, so what's the point?

WonderWeeksArentReal · 12/08/2026 13:21

Knock on their door and ask them to move it, surely? Every single time.

PinkCatCushion · 12/08/2026 13:25

Rosesandthorns66 · 12/08/2026 13:13

This.
When you need to park and their car is in your space, then park in their parking space.

OP mentioned earlier that hers is a better space and that’s why the neighbour likes to use it.

Daftapath · 12/08/2026 13:26

What is ‘the visitor loophole’ that you think they are exploiting?

Victorius19 · 12/08/2026 13:28

Bollards. It's the only option. We had to do this with our work parking.
