NDN using our allocated parking space, not their own!

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:05

Our neighbours have started using our allocated parking space instead of their own allocated parking space.

We've spoken to them but they have continued. The view of their space is not a clear line of vision.

What to do next???

Personally I would block them in by parking in front if them if it's safe to do that

Yes, they are using ours but leaving their own empty.

We use ours all the time, we're always coming and going.

At least explain why they would do that. What advantage do they gain?

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 12:12

My space is superior due to the clear line of vision.

You can buy one of those bollards that you drill into the concrete and they lay flat when you want to park and you putt them up and lock them into place when you are away from your space.

Stop stressing over this and just buy one. They are not expensive and solve your problem immediately.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 12/08/2026 12:15

Block them in (I've done this before because I'm petty af). I've also pipped my horn outside their house until they moved their car (sorry other neighbours). I couldn't park in theirs as they had a 'project' in their space hence them parking in mine, but I'd do it if I could have.

Agreed. Some of my neighbours have one and they’re a lot happier since they’ve had it!

Error404FucksNotFound · 12/08/2026 12:16

As others have said, just install a couple of collapsible bollards, then it's permanently resolved.

IchiNiSanShiGo · 12/08/2026 12:16

@NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking what’s the visitor loophole? Have you said they could use your drive if they have visitors or something?

What have they said when you’ve spoken to them about it?

Gengha · 12/08/2026 12:18

Have you spoken to the cheeky bastards and asked them wtf they are playing at?

Def get a bollard

Imdunfer · 12/08/2026 12:21

So they want to be able to see their car when it's parked and they can't if they use their own space.

They're hoping they can force you to swap spaces. You've asked them to stop and they won't.

Drop them a letter saying you will be installing a bollard if they don't stop trespassing on your property.

Then buy a bollard if they don't.

JohnofWessex · 12/08/2026 12:23

Never mind bollards

Land Mine!!

Never mind bollards

Land Mine!!

This is the only solution

GloriousGoosebumps · 12/08/2026 12:25

How are they outside of this parking issue? ie have they proved themselves entitled in respect of other matters? And why have they targeted your parking space? Obviously you are next door but there are presumably other parking spaces which would be equally attractive if they simply want to be able to see their car when it is parked up. Is it that they see you as being the weakest neighbour? Last question, given that you use your parking space, how are they able to nab your parking space?
I would simply install a bollard. I wouldn't mention it - ever! They obviously couldn't mention it and that alone would kill them!

JohnofWessex · 12/08/2026 12:26

Oh & put the Mines down when the car is parked in your space...........

Gazelda · 12/08/2026 12:26

not giving a diagram is one thing, but not to give more detail is beyond the pale.

how long has this been going on? Did they park in their own originally? Where do they park if your car is already in your spot? Where do you park if they are in your space? What is the visitors loophole? What do they say when you ask them to move?

JohnofWessex · 12/08/2026 12:27

You dont pay any sort of Estate Management fee if so whoever you pay it to should get involved

Otherwise do you have legal cover anywhere?

hamnish · 12/08/2026 12:28

Unless you’re Marie-France van Heel, and this is about Downing St parking regs, I can’t see how outing a diagram would be.

BillieWiper · 12/08/2026 12:29

What if you use theirs? Is that a big inconvenience? If not then I'd just do that. They can hardly stop you If they think they can do just that.

If they've got someone else associated with their house parked in theirs and they're nicking yours then that's not acceptable.

I guess you need to block it off somehow. And speak to the council as I presume the parking spaces are in the public street?

BitOutOfPractice · 12/08/2026 12:30

Can you block them in when they are in your space?

pinkyredrose · 12/08/2026 12:36

NDNUsingOurAllocatedParking · 12/08/2026 11:18

Yes, they are using ours but leaving their own empty.

We use ours all the time, we're always coming and going.

Just use thiers then.

TheSkyRaisin · 12/08/2026 12:40

The best way to deal with this is to completely dig up your parking space under cover of darkness, to a depth of about twelve feet. Then cover the hole with a grey tarpaulin, so that it looks like a normal parking space. When your neighbour next parks there, they drive into the hole, you fill in with cement, and boom - problem solved. HTH.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 12/08/2026 12:42

Apparently it takes 1500-4000 post it notes to cover a car.

If you are bored.

user1492809438 · 12/08/2026 12:43

Lockable bollard?

PuppyMonkey · 12/08/2026 12:45

Diagram would be outing, lol. As if anyone would know from your drawing, oh yes, that’s Betty Turner from Acacia Avenue in Bedford.
